Emmy Award winner and Kennedy Center Honoree Debbie Allen and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in association with The Annenberg Foundation presents its award-winning family spectacular “Hot Chocolate Nutcracker” at the Drive-Up Santa Monica Airport. This year’s performance is written, directed and choreographed by Allen and will mark the return of this new holiday classic in the wake of COVID-19. Keeping in the spirit of giving, 100% of the show’s proceeds will benefit arts education for youth in the greater Los Angeles area.

Venice Storytellers Saturday, Nov. 20
Venice Storytellers brings together Venice community members and Cornerstone Theater Company artists in conversation about the neighborhood. They’ll share stories and perspectives to make some art together that grows from the broad themes of history, home and art. These readings, staged outside in the park at the Oakwood Recreation Center, will feature local residents whose stories and conversation inspired the plays they are performing. Woodcut Reduction was championed by Picasso and is becoming increasingly popular for its ease of approach and variety of visual results. Students will make a multicolor print from one matrix block printing layers of oil-based ink with an etching press. The on block kento registration system will be introduced. All aspects of woodcut design, proper cutting skills, tool maintenance, mixing and applying ink and special technique applications. Tuition is $275 per student and includes all materials. Josephine Press is a fully equipped printmaking facility offering custom edition printing, platemaking instruction and workshops for established and emerging artists.
