Thanks for naming us as the BEST
Thank you DTLA for voting Dignity Health - California Hospital Medical Center the Best Hospital winner! Since 1887, we’ve been a community cornerstone advancing high quality health care. We’re proud of our legacy and excited to expand services for all who come to us for hope, healing and humankindness.
Downtown Los Angeles is experiencing a revitalization, where once dominant industries and ideas have given way to a new age. The city is changing: billion-dollar projects have begun to dot the skyline, with dozens more in the pipeline; Metro has created the longest light-rail line in the world through the Regional Connector project, uniting Downtown’s population of over 82,000 people with the rest of the region; city hall has witnessed wide-scale social and political protests and strikes for workers’ rights while the council’s Downtown Community
Plan has sought to foretell the longterm future of the urban core.
In the past year, the very nature of work has been called into question as economic scars from the pandemic still remain. Companies and property owners have invested heavily into infrastructure renovations to accompany a young and evolving workforce, and residential and hospitality markets have steadily begun to replace the office as drivers of future growth in Downtown, paving the way for the city’s tapestry of retailers, restaurants and arts and culture venues to flourish.

As Downtown LA forges its path in this time of uncertainty, this issue of
LA Downtown News will embark on a journey across the Downtown mosaic, from the crystalline skyscrapers of the Financial District to the underground creative hubs of the Arts District and the neon marquees of the Historic Core, showcasing the city’s hidden gems and local favorites.
This display of the best of DTLA should not only be a proud reflection of all that Downtown has to offer, but serve as a reminder that no matter who you are or where you live, be it in a high-rise condominium or a supportive shelter, you are a part of this city and a part of its ever-changing story.
