Scottsdale offers shoppers the perfect experiences

By Rachel Sacco Experience Scottsdale

The holidays are right around the corner, and with the supply chain on the fritz, last-minute shoppers may be scrambling to fi nd the perfect gifts for their loved ones.

Fortunately, Experience Scottsdale and the city of Scottsdale have the solution — make that 11 solutions. Last month, the city and Experience Scottsdale launched the Exceptionally Scottsdale Collection, 11 experiences available for purchase at Scottsdale businesses and attractions.

Creating destination experiences has long been a part of the city’s tourism strategic plan. Year after year, consultants have hammered the importance of creating authentic experiences for our destination, while consumer surveys have shown travelers’ needs were evolving, with more seeking out creative off erings.

Both the city of Scottsdale’s Tourism & Events department and Experience Scottsdale recognized the importance of experiential design, but it wasn’t until we joined forces — combining our investment, time and resources — that we were fi nally able to put this strategic vision into action.

For the Exceptionally Scottsdale Collection, we opened the ap-

plication to any Scottsdale business, though 11 were ultimately chosen to participate. These businesses range in size and represent different sectors of the tourism industry, from independently owned Old Town Scottsdale businesses like French Designer Jeweler and The Merchantile to cultural institutions like Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.

Each business spent eight months working in partnership with the city, Experience Scottsdale and a national consultant to design, develop and promote new offerings for visitors, groups and locals.

With the “Perfect Pairing” experience at Carlson Creek Vineyard, locals and visitors alike indulge in Arizona-grown wine paired with artisanal cheeses prepared and curated by the vineyard’s winemaker and Arizona’s top cheesemonger.

At Second Nature Clinic, participants embark on a journey of health and wellness with the “Ayurvedic Royals” experience. This sampling of the principles of Ayurveda focuses on the importance of meditation, balance and nutrition, and includes an herbal-infused balancing massage and shared meal.

“An Indigenous Experience” at Native Art Market shares the stories, arts and culture of Arizona’s Native American tribes. Guests explore Native American customs through music, dance and craft making, taking home a dream catcher or beaded bracelet.

Even more possibilities are available through Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, JoyRidesAZ Scottsdale Tours, LDV Winery and Scottsdale Fashion Square. So perhaps you’ll consider gifting these distinctly Scottsdale tours, tastings and workshops to your family and friends this season. You’ll be giving unforgettable experiences while supporting Scottsdale’s hospitality businesses after an incredibly challenging two years.

Experience Scottsdale and the city of Scottsdale first initiated this experiential design process before the COVID-19 outbreak, and we forged ahead throughout the pandemic. The crisis drove home the need to support our tourism partners in a direct way by helping them identify and generate new revenue streams to help their businesses thrive.

Though these experiences arrived just in time for the holidays, they will be available all throughout the year. We hope you visit ExceptionallyScottsdale.com to learn more about all the opportunities available. 
