Master Gardener Program offers compost and vermicompost workshops by David Goldstein

T

he University of California’s Master Gardener Program in Ventura County is offering a free workshop titled “The Basics of Composting and Vermicomposting,” to be repeated in three locations next month. Even if your refuse hauler provides your home with separate collection service to recycle your yard clippings, there are many good reasons to instead maintain a backyard compost pile for at least a portion of those discards. The compost you produce can supply your garden with slow-releasing nutrients, texture-enhancing tilth, and moisture-retaining structure, reducing the need for commercial fertilizers and mulches. When managed properly, backyard composting produces this valuable soil amendment without generating odors or attracting flies and makes your garden healthier and more resilient to pests and heat. Next year, some local programs for collection of curbside yard clippings are likely expand to allow bagged food scraps in yard waste carts. Bags will be separated and broken open by sorters and mechanical systems, and the food will be transferred to compost facilities. At least initially, until a local compost site can obtain a permit to compost food scraps, food will be trucked to distant sites, mainly in Kern County, for composting. Instead, proper backyard composting “closes the recycling loop” right in your own backyard by facilitating and managing the natural process of decomposition. Handling yard clippings and food scraps in your backyard instead of 6— — September 23, 2021

0923_VCReporter_NEWS.indd 6

placing them in your curbside yard waste collection program reduces the energy consumption and pollution generation from trucking materials to compost facilities, processing the material at those locations, and then distributing the finished compost to users. Master Gardener volunteers will present various methods of composting, as well as vermicomposting. Rather than using a compost bin, vermicomposting involves cultivating worms, typically of the Eisenia fetida variety, known commonly as “red worms.” Under ideal conditions, a pound of worms can eat half a pound of food scraps each day, and in a well-managed worm box, worms reproduce to a level sufficient to handle the amount they are fed. These worms reproduce quickly because they are hermaphrodites — each worm is both male and female — and they reach sexual maturity within 60 days. Just 30 days after mating, they can produce fertilized egg capsules with up to seven baby worms, according to Alexa Hendricks, Master Gardener program coordinator with the UC Cooperative Extension Ventura County. A worm box is the only viable solution for recycling the food scraps of apartment dwellers and others who have no space for a compost bin. With a drain pan under the box, vermicomposting is viable on a balcony or, with precautions, even indoors. Vermicomposting is also a good solution for composting food scraps because using a box, rather than a bin, minimizes the potential for flies and other pests.

Up to 30 participants will be allowed per presentation. Past workshops typically attracted 15-20 guests, but it has been at least three years since the last composting workshop offered by Master Gardeners, so use the following links to register. All events are outdoors, but masks and social distancing are recommended. Ventura County voters vote down recall Weak voter turnout overall

ven with record numbers of registered voters in Ventura County and a race that was touted by many as a hot issue, a little more than half of registered voters in the county weighed in this month on whether or not Gov. Gavin Newsom would be recalled. California voters clearly wanted Newsom to stay in the governor’s mansion, but what were the trends locally? Today, the Ventura County Elections Division reports that 509,797 people are registered to vote in the county; just over half of the entire population of the county, 846,000 (2019). In the 2020 presidential election 85.91% of registered voters, or 422,825, cast ballots. But in the Sept. 14 election to decide on whether to

recall Newsom, a mere 273,132 ballots were cast countywide, representing around 53.6% of eligible voters. Of those ballots, 58.67% or 159,045 voted against Newsom being recalled. That tally closely aligns with the state trend of over 60% of voters statewide wanting Newsom to stay where he is. 112,032 voters in the county (well under a quarter of the county’s population) wanted Newsom out strongly enough to cast a ballot, representing 41.33% of votes cast. As for who voters wanted as governor in the event that Newsom was recalled, the resounding consensus was Larry Elder, with 55.39% of votes cast, or 88,234. The candidates in the next two slots were Kevin Faulconer with 7.92% of county voters (12,620) and Kevin Paffrath, a YouTuber and real estate broker from Ventura, with 7.91% (12,592).

CLU matching UC tuition costs Private education at public price by Kimberly Rivers

T

kimberly@vcreporter.com

he cost of college can be a limiting factor for many students making decisions about where they apply and attend. In an effort to reduce the impact of cost on that decision, California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks is extending a program that matches the cost of attending the public University of California undergraduate campuses, essentially providing a $30,000 scholarship to all new CLU students. Students who were accepted to UC campuses can pay the same tuition to attend CLU, and now CLU has expanded the program to include all students admitted to all UC campuses. Previously the program, called Public Price Promise, was available to all freshmen and transfer students who were accepted to UC campuses at Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego or Santa Barbara. This year it has been expanded to include the campuses at Merced, Riverside and Santa Cruz. The program has been in place at CLU since 2008 and the school reports that 814 students have received over $51 million in scholarships. Today, 193 CLU students are benefiting from the program. Satisfactory academic progress and minimum GPA requirements do apply, and if met allow the scholarship to be renewed each year.

The amount automatically increases if the costs of CLU and UC increase, but will never decrease. Freshmen can renew the scholarship for four years; transfer students can renew up to two years depending on starting grade level. “We can provide a broader scope of options to a more diverse group of students who may not have initially placed Cal Lutheran on their lists because they didn’t think a private education was attainable,” said Michael Elgarico, dean of undergraduate admission and outreach at CLU. For the 2021-22 school year, the value of the scholarship is $28,182. Current CLU costs for a year’s tuition, fees, books and living expenses for full-time residential students is $65,186. The average price of attending a UC campus is $37,655. CLU will announce the 2022-23 scholarship award amount this spring when UC has set their tuition and fees. All students applying for the traditional undergraduate and bachelor’s degree for professional programs at CLU qualify for the program, which has no income requirements. The scholarships are available to out-of-state and international students. Federal, state and other institutional financial aid based on need is also available and can reduce the cost of attending CLU. For more information, visit CalLutheran.edu/promise or contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 805-493-3135 or admissions@callutheran.edu.

Local LGBTQ youth leader recognized Cameron Bartosiewicz, president of the Youth Pride Association (YPA) received the President’s Award for Student Innovation from California State University Channel Islands for the Acceptance Week program he created. The program provides education and support for LGBTQ students in local high schools to create an affirming environment for them. This year the program will be implemented at Royal High School in Simi Valley. YPA is a nonprofit organization working to address adversities faced by LGBTW youth in school. County extends indoor mask mandate On Sept. 17 Ventura County Public Health (VCPH) extended the indoor mask mandate through Oct. 19, 2021, unless the order is amended before that date. Dr. Robert Levin, health officer with VCPH, cited the current case rate in the county of 19.3, which is considered “widespread community transmission” by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as the reason for extending the order. The mandate requires all individuals to wear face coverings when indoors in public settings. The mandate applies to all people, regardless of vaccination status. According to CDC information, masks and face covering reduce transmission rates, which are increasing due to the more infectious Delta variant of the novel coronavirus. Any individual, including those fully vaccinated, can transmit the virus and health officials are trying to reduce transmission through various means, including mandating mask wearing. Pleasant Valley Rec District shifting to division elections A series of public hearings are set regarding the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District shifting to division-based elections in response to the threat of litigation. In August the board of the district declared the shift and is now receiving public input on the proposed district boundaries that will apply. The next two meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct.

Oxnard Mayor’s Task Force goes to work Earlier this month Oxnard Mayor John Zaragoza announced the formation of his Gateways Task Force, which will be charged with creating “gateways” into the city of Oxnard. The task force is made up of five city residents, selected by the mayor, who will work to support the commitment “to restoring proper maintenance of parkways and medians” as well as implement a tree trimming cycle and clean up the various entrance ways into the city. These priorities were named by the entire council as part of a statement on priorities over the next five years. Measure E will provide funding for projects identified by the task force, which will receive public input through community surveys and work with staff and community members to identify potential gateways, and work with staff on logistics and design of improvements. The task force will present a requested budget to the city council for approval on any proposed projects. The members of the task force are: Marvin Boos, Armando Lopez, Melanie Medina, Rene Mendoza and Celina Zacarias. Oxnard’s Finance Department gets new team The city of Oxnard has announced several new staff members in the finance department. Betsy George is the city’s new chief financial officer (CFO). Her 25-year career in accounting and finance has spanned the public and private sectors including the Ventura County Human Services Agency and the Ventura Unified School District. Beth Vo, currently the city’s budget manager, has been appointed interim assistant CFO, with the primary responsibility of overseeing the city’s budget and accounting. Mark Sewell joins the city’s finance team as assistant CFO and is responsible for managing the department’s internal systems. He previously worked for the city of Santa Barbara in the role of accounting manager. Oxnard is planning an overhaul of the processes and software in the finance department, which Sewell will oversee. .

ithin the Museum of Ventura County’s collection are hundreds of thousands of personal artifacts donated by Ventura residents. The treasure trove includes photographs, family papers, letters, books, maps, architectural plans, films, videotapes and more. They are kept for posterity, but for one collection, time was running out. “About a year ago, we started processing a backlog of material,” says Deya Terrafranca, Research Library and Archives Director of the Museum of Ventura County. Elena Brokaw, the museum’s Barbara Barnard Smith Executive Director, adds that they began by “prioritizing the most precious.” “We came across a box of 16mm film cans from the early 20th century,” Terrafranca explains. It was clear that the 20 reels of film needed to be digitized — quickly. “If we didn’t do it soon, the film would break down.” If that happened, the film — and all the stories it contained — would be lost forever.

What the film held was a bit of a mystery. The museum knew the film belonged to Herman Balden Keene, a lifelong Ventura resident who lived from 1879 to 1965. The original labels offered a few clues, but according to Terrafranca they weren’t terribly illuminating. “They were very, very minimal descriptions like ‘Snake,’ ‘Condor,’ ‘Football Game.’” Terrafranca and her team, which is mostly made up of volunteers and interns, were able to look at the unspooled reels under a magnifying glass to get a glimpse of the images on the film. The idea of projecting the film, however, was a non-starter. Without the proper equipment, the risk of damaging the film was too great. Even cleaning the film to get a

better look at it under a magnifying glass would have been too risky because of the dust and dirt that had accumulated on the film over time. Thanks to a grant from the Schwemm Family Foundation, the museum was able to send the film to the University of Southern California’s film department for archival digitization. In addition to digitizing all the film and creating an archival master, USC rehoused the original reels in special archival cans. In March 2021, the digitization was complete. That’s when Terrafranca and her intrepid team got to work. The process was painstaking. “A five-minute film could take an hour to watch, describe, upload, and create metadata [for online search purposes]. A 15-minute film would take an hour

and a half or two hours.” Their labor was worth it. “It was very interesting to see and really rewarding.”

“A rare moment in time”

The collection is now available for viewing in an online exhibit titled, Out and Back: Ventura County Backcountry Adventures. “Herman Keene’s footage captures a rare moment in time in the history of Ventura County . . . and is the only backcountry footage we have in our collection,” Terrafranca says. The backcountry includes the Sespe and Matilija, beyond Ojai and up where Highway 33 now leads. But who was Herman Balden Keene? “He was a local wealthy man who loved going into the

Unknown, “Snowy Ventura Street Scene,” 1922, Virginia Gould Collection, 1997. All photos courtesy of the Research Library at the Museum of Ventura County backcountry,” Terrafranca explains. An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Keene also had the desire and the means to capture his life on film. His parents came to California in 1872, after his father served in the U.S. Civil War and worked as a clerk for the Treasury Department. They settled in Rancho Sespe and grew walnuts and oranges. What remains a mystery is how the museum came to possess Keene’s film in the first place. Nevertheless, as Terrafranca and Brokaw exclaim, they are very glad they did. “[The footage] captures the juncture of the early days of car exploration of the backcountry, and at the same time the use of horses and pack animals,” Terrafranca says. In her view, that shift from horses to the automobile “was the most exciting thing to see.” In one scene, Keene stops his car and pulls out a shovel to clear rocks and dirt from the road. The film also captures “Santa Paula in ways that may not be recognizable to viewers today. [It] includes weather challenges Keene endured along the way, and how he survived the backcountry wilderness on his quest to hunt fox, bear and mountain lions.” There is footage of wildlife, including condors, as well as documentation of natural disasters.

community virtually. That sparked the expansion of the museum’s online exhibits and programs, and now it reaches people across the county, the country and the globe. Brokaw proudly states that the museum now has three locations: the Museum of Ventura County in Downtown Ventura, the Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula, and MVC Online. The work of delving into the museum’s backlog continues. “Currently we are doing a thorough search of Tura Times, a local TV show from the 1980s,” Terrafranca says. The tapes, which are in special format, will go to USC to be digitized. Once the final product comes back, who knows what it will reveal. The same goes for all the books, maps, papers and other personal artifacts lying in wait, each and every one containing a story. Thanks to the Museum of Ventura County, these will not go untold. And thus, we will be able to discover and learn from them.

As much as Keene’s film tells us about the history of our surroundings, it sheds light on the people who came before us. There is footage of football games, gatherings and camping trips in the Sespe. Some scenes are staged, most likely because the people in them had never even seen a camera before. There is also an abundance of footage that reminds us that times and sensibilities have changed. “The footage includes ambiguity and a lot of disturbing footage of trapping, abusing and killing animals,” Terrafranca warns. “But it’s important to recognize that it was a very different time in the same place.” Brokaw concurs. “Some of it is difficult to watch.” She adds that it leaves us to “grapple with how to gauge the actions of our ancestors.” Making our history accessible, including the parts that aren’t easy to acknowledge, is at the core of the museum’s mission. “Everything we do is based on accessibility,” Terrafranca explains. This commitment to accessibility drives her, other museum staff and volunteers to make the Museum of Ventura County the best community museum in the country. When the pandemic shut the museum’s doors, it became all the more apparent that the museum needed a way to connect with the

Multi-instrumentalist Laura Mihalka

ADVICE GODDESS

The Fastidious And The Furious

I’m a divorced guy in my 40s. I was at a bar with friends and went over to talk with a woman I found really attractive. Though she wasn’t the friendliest, I asked to take her to dinner. She said she’d think about it and then asked for my Instagram. Several days later, I texted her, and she agreed to go out. We’ve since had a few dates, but I’m bothered that she wouldn’t go out with me until she’d scoured my social media. What does that suggest about her? — Offended

by amy alkon

You don’t expect much from a woman who’s “known” you all of 20 minutes: just blind trust that you’ll do the gentleman thing of opening the passenger-side door for her — as opposed to the psychopathic gentleman thing of stuffing her in your trunk. Of course, the latter could happen if two gay men were dating, but there’s good reason women — more than men — would opt for a “buyer beware” versus a “buyer be guessin’” approach. “Most men fear getting laughed at or humiliated by a romantic prospect while most women fear rape and death,” observes personal security expert Gavin de Becker in “The Gift of Fear.” Even the stringbeaniest man can probably whup the average woman. Men have 15 to 20 times more testosterone than women, explain endocrinology researcher David J. Handelsman, M.D., and his colleagues. Higher “T” is associated with increased “muscle mass and strength” and “bone size and strength.” This means that even the power broads of the female athletic world are ill-prepared for any battle of the sexes. Take women’s tennis rock stars Venus and Serena Williams. In 1998, when they were ranked

fifth and 20th respectively, each got trounced by 203rd-ranked male tennis player Karsten Braasch — whose “prep” for these matches was playing a round of golf and throwing back a couple of beers. Beyond physical safety concerns, there’s one half of the species that pees on little plastic sticks after sex to see whether they’re about to make another human being — one which, on average, will cost $233,610 to raise until age 17. (College, grad school, and multiple stints in rehab priced separately.) This difference in male and female reproductive physiology led to the evolution of differences in male and female sexual psychology — namely in their general level of sexual selectivity. It’s in men’s evolutionary interest to have sex with a slew of women — and the hotter the better, because the features we find beautiful (youth, clear skin, and an hourglass figure) reflect health and fertility. (In a pinch, a woman with a pulse will do.) An ancestral man could cut and run after sex — leaving it to the Miss Neanderbrow he hooked up with to feed and care for any resulting fruit of the womb — and still have a pretty good chance of pass-

ing on his genes. In contrast, ancestral women who didn’t just stumble off to do it in the bushes with every Clooneyesque club toter likely left more surviving children to pass on their genes (carrying their psychology of choosiness). Women’s emotions push them to act in their evolutionary best interest. Women fear getting involved with men who will be unwilling and/or unable to pick up the tab if sex leads to, um, the creation of small mammals who will run up big bills at the orthodontist. In other words, it benefits a woman to scope a new man out and decide whether the ideal time to go to dinner with him might be the first Tuesday in never. We’re psychologically unprepared for the “evolutionarily novel” experience of vetting a stranger we meet in a bar, because our psychological operating system is adapted for an ancestral hunter-gatherer world: small, consistent communities of perhaps 25 to 100 people in which “intel” on a person was readily available through the grapevine. What’s a modern, stranger-encountering woman to do? Well, this one apparently hoped to get some clues about you from your social

media: probably from the sort of stuff you post, your follows and followers, and how you engage in the comments. What does this woman’s precautionary approach say about her? Well, probably that she isn’t so desperate for a man or a free dinner that she’ll take risks with her safety and go out with any Joe Bar Tab who offers to treat her to a meal. This isn’t to say she’s found a foolproof vetting method. Though social media is a new thing, it’s rife with a well-worn evolved tool: deception — used to defeat the precautionary strategies of the opposite sex. This typically leads not to rape or death but the sinking feeling of being had — when, say, visits from the guy who posted pics of himself “flying private” always coincide with rolls of toilet paper going missing. FREE WILL ASTROLOGY ARIES

(March 21-April 19):

Aries author Steve Maraboli says, “The best way to love someone is not to change them, but instead, help them reveal the greatest version of themselves.” If that strategy appeals to you, the next eight weeks will be an excellent time to put it to maximum use. You’re entering a phase when you can have an especially beneficial effect on people you care for. You’ll be at peak power to help them unleash dormant potentials and access untapped resources.

TAURUS

(April 20-May 20):

It’s a good time to ruminate about things you wish could be part of your life but aren’t. You will be wise to develop a more conscious relationship with wistful fantasies about impossible dreams. Here’s one reason why this is true: You might realize that some seemingly impossible dreams aren’t so impossible. To get in the mood for this fun exercise, meditate on a sample reverie: “I wish I could spend a whole day discovering new music to love. I wish I owned a horse and a boat and a vintage brown and orange striped bohemian cardigan sweater from the 1970s. I wish I knew the names of all the flowers. I wish I felt more at ease about revealing my hidden beauty. I wish I could figure out how to eliminate unnecessary stress from my life.”

GEMINI

(May 21-June 20):

Poet, essayist, and translator Anne Carson calls her husband Robert Currie the “Randomizer.” His role in her life as a creative artist is to make quirky recommendations that help her avoid being too predictable. He sends her off in directions she wouldn’t have imagined by herself. Here’s an example: At one point in her career, Carson confessed she was bored with her writing. The Ran-

by rob brezsny

domizer suggested, “Let’s put dancers into it.” In response, she repurposed the sonnets she had been working on into a live theatrical performance featuring many dancers. I think you would benefit from having a Randomizer in your life during the coming weeks. Know anyone who could serve? If not, look for one. Or be your own Randomizer.

CANCER

(June 21-July 22):

If you so desired, you could travel to Munich, Germany and eat beer-flavored ice cream. Or you could go to Rehoboth, Delaware and get bacon-flavored ice cream. If you were in Taiwan, you could enjoy pineapple shrimp ice cream, and if you were in London, you could sample haggis-flavored ice cream, made from sheep innards. But my advice right now is to stick with old reliables like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream — which are still delicious even if they’re not exotic. What’s my reasoning? In general, the astrological aspects suggest that during the coming weeks, you’re most likely to thrive on trustworthy standbys and experiences you know and trust.

LEO

(July 23-Aug. 22):

Celebrated novelist Jane Austen (1775– 1817) wrote, “Sometimes I have kept my feelings to myself, because I could find no language to describe them in.” People who aren’t as articulate as Austen experience that problem even more often than she did. But the good news, Leo, is that in the coming weeks, you’ll be extra skillful at expressing your feelings and thoughts — even those that in the past have been difficult to put into words. I invite you to take maximum advantage of this grace period. Communicate with hearty poise and gleeful abandon.

VIRGO

(Aug. 23-Sept. 22):

“When you know what’s important, it’s a lot easier to ignore what’s not,” writes author and life coach Marie Forleo. Let’s make her thought the basis of your work and play in the coming weeks. Get vibrantly clear on what is of supreme value to you, which influences bring out the best in you, and which people make it easy for you to be yourself. Then compose a second list of trivial situations that are of minor interest, influences that make you feel numb, and people who don’t fully appreciate you. Next, Virgo, formulate long-term plans to phase out the things in the second list as you increasingly emphasize your involvement in the pleasures named in the first list.

LIBRA

(Sept. 23-Oct. 22):

Happy Birthday sometime soon, Libra! As gifts, I have collected six useful mini-oracles for you to meditate on during the rest of 2021. They’re all authored by Libran aphorist Yahia Lababidi. 1. Hope is more patient than despair and so outlasts it. 2. Miracles are proud creatures; they will not reveal themselves to those who do not believe. 3. A good listener is one who helps us overhear ourselves. 4. One definition of success might be refining our appetites, while deepening our hunger. 5. With enigmatic clarity, life gives us a different answer each time we ask her the same question. 6. Temptation: seeds we are forbidden to water, that are showered with rain.

SCORPIO

(Oct. 23-Nov. 21):

Pioneering psychologist Carl Jung wrote, “I must also have a dark side if I am to be whole.” But it’s important to add that some dark sides tend to be destructive and demoralizing, while other dark sides are fertile and interesting. Most of us have a share of each. My read-

ing of the planetary omens suggests that you Scorpios now have extra power to upgrade your relationship with the fertile and interesting aspects of your dark side. I hope you will take advantage! You have a ripe opportunity to deepen and expand your wholeness.

SAGITTARIUS

(Nov. 22-Dec. 21):

Sagittarian poet Rainer Maria Rilke was a complicated person with many mysterious emotions and convoluted thoughts. And yet, he once wrote that life occasionally brought him “boundless simplicity and joy.” I find it amazing he could ever welcome such a state. Kudos to him! How about you, dear Sagittarius? Are you capable of recognizing when boundless simplicity and joy are hovering in your vicinity, ready for you to seize them? If so, be extra alert in the next two weeks. I expect there’ll be a visitation or two. Maybe even three or four.

CAPRICORN

(Dec. 22-Jan. 19):

Baltasar Gracián was not a 21st-century New Age self-help teacher. He was a 17th-century Jesuit philosopher born under the sign of serious, diligent Capricorn. I hope you will be extra receptive to his advice in the coming weeks. He wrote, “Know your key qualities, your outstanding gifts. Cultivate them. Redouble their use.” Among the key qualities he gave as examples were disciplined discernment and resilient courage. I bring his thoughts to your attention because the coming weeks will be a rousing time to heed his counsel. It’s time for you to identify and celebrate and give abundant expression to your key qualities.

AQUARIUS

(Jan. 20-Feb. 18):

After studying the genes that create feathers in birds, scientists found that humans

have all the necessary genes to grow feathers. (I read about it in National Geographicmagazine.) So why don’t we grow feathers, then? Well, it’s complicated. Basically, the feather-making genes are not fully activated. Who knows? Maybe someday, there’ll be technology that enables us to switch on those genes and sprout plumage. I bet my Aquarian friend Jessie, whose body has 30 tattoos and 17 piercings, would take advantage. In the coming weeks, it might be fun for you to imagine having bird-like qualities. You’re entering a high-flying phase — a time for ascension, expansion, soaring, and seeing the big picture from lofty vantage points.

PISCES

(Feb. 19-March 20):

Are there sensual and erotic acts you’ve never tried and are curious about? Are there experimental approaches on the frontier of your desires that would be intriguing to consider? Might there be lusty experiences you’ve barely imagined or don’t know about — but that could be fun to play with? According to my analysis of the astrological omens, the coming weeks will be a favorable time to explore such possibilities. Be safe and prudent, of course. Don’t be irresponsible or careless. But also be willing to expand your notions of your sexuality. Homework: It’s time for Brag Therapy. Send me your proud and shiny boasts. Notice to Potential Bidders If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a Trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a Trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder's office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same Lender may hold more than one mortgage or Deed of Trust on the property. Notice to Property Owner The sale date shown on this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more times by the Mortgagee, Beneficiary, Trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale.
