San Lorenzo Valley BUSINESS ASSOCIATION
The BCBA’s purpose is to maintain a healthy economic and cultural environment in this small, historic mountain town. We promote cohesive bonds between the various organizations representing the valley population and businesses while maintaining a positive sense of community, history and respectfully embracing the diversity of each individual.
The BCBA is a 50+ year old non-profit organization run by a dedicated group of volunteers and has a membership of over 100 businesses. In addition to serving the local businesses, the association hosts several events, some of which have been celebrated for generations and all of which are enjoyed by community and tourists alike.

With years of hard work and fundraising, the BCBA has revived historic charm in the town core by adorning the buildings with twinkle lights and installing acorn streetlights to light nighttime strolls. Included in this ongoing town beautification project is the installation of historically appropriate street furnishings to make downtown more welcoming to locals and tourists alike and to create a more social shopping experience. In 2020, a BCBA commissioned mural in the town’s center was completed which depicts key people and times in the town’s history. The BCBA is also overseeing the Boulder Creek Main Street project, administered by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, with the goal of strengthening economic vitality while enhancing historic charm.
The BCBA is an unwavering advocate for pedestrian safety initiatives and improvement projects in the downtown core. By working with multiple government organizations (Supervisor Bruce McPherson’s office, the Regional Transportation Commission, Caltrans etc.), we are able to promote specific projects that will address the needs of the community at large.

The BCBA helps unite local businesses for purposes of advertising, promotion and economic growth by providing resources for opportunities and platforms for collaboration. When gathering is permitted, we host periodic mixers at local shops where businesses and the community can mingle. During the 2020 shelter in place order, we created a Facebook page called Shop and Dine Boulder Creek where all local businesses can connect with their customers, even when they can’t shop in person. This page will continue as a free advertising platform for local businesses.
We are also working on a community calendar on our website for member businesses to advertise and community members to find what’s happening in town. With these and other methods, we make every effort to connect our local businesses with the community and visitors. We also protect our businesses by working closely with our local and county officials, sharing concerns and questions that pertain to our community. Member-ships and sponsorships help to fund these promotional activities and our ongoing projects to improve the downtown experience.
