My Pulpit Message - notes
Empowered to Go

One Bible commentator reminds us that the great commission does not begin with the word ‘go’ Luke 24, Act 1:4-8
Wait until you are clothed with power from on High, wait until the Holy Spirit has come upon you then go and make disciples.
Acts 1:8
1. The homogeneous ministry - Jerusalem
8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” You cannot go until you have been so marinated in the Word of God that the Holy Spirit has fallen on you in a fresh way in the upper room, then you can go. In layman’s language is like being in the same WhatsApp group. You have something common. In Jerusalem meaning those near you and like you.
2. The Heterogenous ministry - Judea and Samaria
Definition of ‘then you shall be’: The shall be is not an elective. If the Holy Spirit comes upon you then the automatic consequence and subsequent to that is that you shall be my witnesses. Once you grow, you go.”
Witnesses comes from the Greek word ‘martyres’. The English word, a martyr, people who are usually put to death with regard to their convictions in faith.
Three destinations / audiences to go
1. Jerusalem, 2. Judea and Samaria 3. Ends of the earth Three audiences
1. The Homogeneous ministry 2. The Heterogenous ministry 3. The Exogenous ministry
Those near you, but not like you
3. The Exogenous - the uttermost ends of the earth
Those not near you and not like you.
