ROSS LEE! If you are looking for a solid hour of guaranteed laughs, you must make time to see Ross Lee. Not a Lot of Sex, Lies and Videotapes is the story of Rossʼs journey from his childhood ambitions to getting his own show on Nickelodeon. “My life is like an episode of The Chuckle Brothers. At school I was always the outcast, a little bit weird. Rather than playing football Iʼd be walking around the tennis courts with a Freddie Kruger glove on my hand, pretending to stalk peopleʼs dreams.” Ross has always wanted to be on TV and started making his own mini productions when he was 13. At 16 he decided to send the videos in to TV companies, and started getting a few jobs. This proved not to be enough however, and Ross started attempting to trick his way onto the small screen. “I told Anglia News I was going to rollerblade around the world. They believed me and turned up to film my ʻpracticeʼ sessions around the park. I couldnʼt roller skate.” These stunts

didnʼt always go to plan. “I got arrested at the London Marathon for trying to cross the finish line before the actual winner, dressed as a carrot. I spend four hours in a cell.” Ross eventually was given his own CBBC show ʻChuteʼ. He later got a series on Nickelodeon called ʻRoss Leeʼs Ghouliesʼ. So why has this TV obsessed comic turned to stand up? “Iʼve got a wealth of crazy footage on video that Iʼve never known what to with. Me, my writing partner and my agent just decided to do an Edinburgh show. Once people started to watch it I got a bug for laughter. With
TV you do it, someone shouts cut and you go home. With this, itʼs an immediate response. Youʼre getting a payback. I never want to stop. Iʼll be back next year with Ross Lee: A lot of sex, lies and video tapes.” Ross Lee has successfully made the jump from kidʼs entertainer to performing highly credible and hilarious stand up for adults. Donʼt miss your chance to see this natural entertainer. Pleasance Courtyard Attic 19.00 (20.00) 5-31 August (not 17) £8.00 - £12.50

The Bodegaʼs brothers, Rob Castell and Toma Sadler, are appearing in two fantastic shows at the Pleasance this year. Afternoon Delight is completely unique. “We sit down in our chairs, we have some tea, a few biscuits, in our pyjamas and dressing gowns and sing about various ideas that we might be musing on, such as ʻthe dinosaurs are gayʼ and ʻGreen Party Gets Sexyʼ. The show is, to an extent, an insight into the life of these two old friends. “The overall concept is that we are two self employed writer/perfomers who have nothing to do thank sit around writing songs,
but weʼve invited the audience in to do that with us.” Rob and Tom also pointed out that you can often get a free biscuit if you are a good audience participant. The boys are also performing in Barbershopera II, They were here last year with Barbershopera, which was a runaway success which consistently sold out and gained rave reviews. Itʼs the brilliant, if unusual story of a Catalan matador who inherits his dead fatherʼs barbershop in Norfolk. It culminates in a turf war with local hairdresser ʻTrevor Sorbetʼ. “Itʼs a musical but everything is sung so there are no instru-
ments. Itʼs a comedy, itʼs silly, unlike Afternoon Delight there is a full narrative.” The Bodega Brothers have been friends since university and regularly work together. The duo are loving their Edinburgh experience and have already decided to come back next year.
