THIS 282-UNIT APARTMENT COMPLEX SITS ON A BEAUTIFUL 97,000 SF SITE ON THE PICTURESQUE EDGE OF BAY RIDGE OVERLOOKING THE VERRAZANO BRIDGE CONNECTING STATEN ISLAND AND SOUTH BROOKLYN.

TO BLEND TOGETHER A REGULAR LARGE-SCALE HOUSING PROJECT AND A PIVOTAL TRANSIT JUNCTION, I PROPOSED AN ATHLETICALLY-INCLINED SCHEME WHERE CYCLISTS CAN DIRECTLY CIRCULATE THROUGH THE RAMP SYSTEM TO GET TO THEIR UNIT ON CERTAIN FLOORS WHEREAS NON-CYCLIST RESIDENTS CAN ACCESS THEIR OWN RAMP SYSTEM WITHOUT BIKE INTERRUPTIONS.

RED HOOK MARINE SCIENCES INSTITUTE VERTICAL STUDIO PROJECT CRITIC- HENRY SMITH-MILLER LOCATION- RED HOOK ENVISIONING A NEW MODEL OF COLLECTIVE LIVING, LEARNING, AND WORKING IN A SUBURBAN SETTING, THIS PROJECT SEEKS TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION IN THE CONTEXT OF AN EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH INSTITUTION. THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE WATERFRONT OF RED HOOK AND FORMS A VISUAL TRIANGLE WITH DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN AND GOVERNOR’S ISLAND. THE PROJECT HOUSES LABS, CLASSROOMS, AUDITORIUMS, DORMITORIES, AN AQUARIUM, AND OTHER MIXED-USE FACILITIES THAT APPROXIMATE 500,000 SF OF FLOOR AREA. IN ADDITION, THE BUILDING INTEGRATES WITH A PROPOSED INTEGRATED FLOOD PROTECTION SYSTEM (IFPS) THAT DEALS WITH THE RISING SEA LEVEL. HENCE, THE WHOLE BUILDING IS FLOOD PROOF AND RAISED UP 10-20 FEET AND JOINS A BERM ALONG THE WATER. THE COMPLEX ENCOURAGES OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES AND CELEBRATES THE WATER EVEN IN HARSHER CONDITIONS THROUGH VISUAL FRAMING AND TOPOGRAPHIC MANIPULATIONS.

THIS PROJECT INVOLES RENOVATING AND REDESIGNING AN OLD BANK ON THE CORNER OF BROADWAY AND LORIMER ST, DESIGNING A NEW MIXED-USE HIGH-RISE, AND INTEGRATING THE TWO PORTIONS.
EXTERIOR RENDERINGS, AND 3D MODELING FOR THIS PROJECT. I WORKED THROUGH ITERATIONS OF SCHEMES WITH LICENSED ARCHITECTS WHO COLLABORATED CLOSELY WITH THE DEVELOPER/CLIENT.
GARRISON ARCHITECTS SPECIALIZES IN MODULAR DESIGN. IN ADDITION, THE CLIENT’S CONCEPT WAS TO BUILD THE FIRST CO-HOUSING PROJECT IN NYC. THEREFORE, I LEARNED A GREAT DEAL ABOUT MICRO-UNITS, LARGE-SCALE MIXEDUSE ORGANIZATION, AND MODULAR DESIGN. I CONTRIBUTED TO THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN, INTERIOR &
THE PROJECT HAS EXPANDED ITS SITE SINCE I LEFT AND IS GOING THROUGH FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS AT THIS POINT.
ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE STUDENT CENTER AND DOMRITORIES SUMMER INTERNSHIP FIRM- GARRISON ARCHITECTS LOCATION- LONG ISLAND
ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE COMMISSIONED GARRISON ARCHITECTS TO DESIGN NEW ADDITIONS TO THEIR LONG ISLAND CAMPUS, WHICH INCLUDE THREE DORMITORIES AND A STUDENT CENTER. DUE TO THE VERNACULAR BRICK FACADE OF EXISTING BUILDINGS, THE PROJECT FINDS A FINE BALANCE IN BLENDING THE NEW WITH OLD VERNACULAR - BRICK AND FIBER CEMENT PANELS ON THE FACADE. BEHIND THE FACADE, ALL THE BUILDINGS ARE MODULAR.
I COLLABORATED WITH THE LEAD ARCHITECT AND OTHER INTERNS, INTERATED THROUGH SCHEMES FOR THE CLIENT, AND PRODUCED DRAWING SETS. I CONTRIBUTED TO THE SCHEMATIC DESIGN, INTERIOR & EXTERIOR RENDERINGS, SD DRAWING SETS, AND 3D MODELING FOR THIS PROJECT.

PUTNAM TRIANGLE CANOPY WAS DESIGNED AND BUILT BY THE ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS OF PRATTSIDE, A STUDENT ORGANIZATION AT THE NEIGHBORING PRATT INSTITUTE.
YEAR-LONG PROJECT CRITIC- MARK PARSONS TEAM- PRATTSIDE LOCATION- CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN
OUR CONCEPT FOR THE TEMPORARY ART INSTALLATION IS A LIGHT FILTRATION CANOPY THAT WILL PROVIDE A RESTING AREA TO CREATE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY WITHOUT BLOCKING PEDESTRIAN CIRCULATION.
PARAMETRIC COLUMN CNC COURSE PROJECT CRITIC- BRIAN RINGLEY TEAM MEMBER- JASON VAYANOS THIS PROJECT AIMS TO UTILIZE PARAMETRIC TOOLS - GRASSHOPPER AND RHINOCAM TO HELP DESIGN AND FABRICATE COMPOSITE MATERIALS OF DIFFERENT FEATURES.
PUTNAM TRIANGLE CANOPY IS A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT OF PRATT STUDENTS, FULTON AREA BUSINESS ALLIANCE AND PRATT CENTER FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SUPPORTED BY NYC DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. IT WAS FINANCED BY THE TACONIC FELLOWSHIP GRANT, NEIGHBORHOOD PLAZA PARTNERSHIP IN COLLABORATION WITH IOBY CROWD FUNDING CAMPAIGN AND FAB ALLIANCE.
STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND AESTHETICS WERE GREATLY EXPLORED USING BOTH DIGITAL AND MANUAL METHODS TO FINALIZE THE DESIGN.
THIS TEMPORARY STRUCTURE IS DESIGNED TO BE EASILY ADAPTED AND REUSED OR REPLICATED IN OTHER PLAZAS IN THE CITY.
