About Me
Education
I am a conscientious hard working self-motivated 22 year old who takes responsibility seriously but also enjoys life. Having just completed my undergraduate degre in architecture and continuing with my 2 year Master’s degree, I have grown as a confident individual and promising future architect. I believe in hard work, character, integrity, leadership, and responsibility; traits which I have learned both in architecture school and at home as the eldest of 7 kids. I am passionate in what I do, and am excited to translate my love for architecture and design into the architectural work force as I pursue becoming a licensed architect.

I am passionate about... I am passionate about life and passionate about people, and it is my goal within every situation I am placed in to be the best that I can be, and to encourage others to do the same. I am an avid athlete, snowboarder, and longboarder. Whether hitting the slopes with my bros or taking a work break longboarding, I love getting outdoors to relax. Other interests of mine include graphic design, fashion, photography, and of course architecture.

SPROTT HOTEL + SCHOOL OF BUSINESS The
Sprott School of business stands as a new icon for the City of Ottawa and Carleton University. Situated on the corner of the campus’ periphery, the building rises from the ground towards downtown Ottawa. Named after its unique angular shape, the iceburg takes full advantage of its corner site, harboring views in all directions towards Parliament, Dows Lake, and the Glebe. Designated as half hotel and half business school, the building is a hybrid space. A grand central atrium connects all facets of life within the building to each other. Tiered classrooms all open towards the atrium, fostering connectivity and creativity to flow within the school. The new Sprott School of Business becomes in of itself a new community, where faculty, students, and visitors alike can come together and learn in unison.

The building is cut twice, creating three program functions as well as creating a pedestrian connection between streets.
The building envelope is pierced through to create a central node and atrium
Rotating the building 60 degrees creates panoramic views towards downtown, the lake, and back towards campus
All southern facing facades are equipped with solar shading devices to provide maximum passive solar gains and protection

“A centre for the community and church to thrive

COMMUNITY CENTRE The
First Baptist Church Community Centre is centrally located within the downtown core of Ottawa. Sitting at the corner of a main intersection, the church looks over the city’s central park. The priority of the design aimed to renew the church’s identity within the city, primarily by reversing the church from an internal experience to an external one. This was achieved by repurposing the church’s interior completely. The main auditorium is rotated 90 degrees and extended into the new addition, allowing higher occupancy and light penetration. The interior of the building is designed in such a way that everything is connected visually, yet still separated according to function. The main auditorium is partitioned from the circulation stairs and lobby via a glass and steel dividing wall. To maximize views over the Ottawa area, the church’s roof and steeple were penetrated by two extrusions from the new addition. The 4th floor of the church is hence turned into a panoramic viewing point over Confederation Park and the rest of downtown. The FBC Community Centre aims to bring the community into a place where connection and communication are discovered, and in turn remitted back to the city of Ottawa.

LONDON BOAT CLUB A
prime location and primary pedestrian path whithin the neighbourhood, City Road Basin was selected as a site for a multipurpose facility to include a boat club, residence, library, and sports facility. Combining such a large number of programs within such a small site required an efficient allocation of layout and hierarchy. Mainting the site as a primary pedestrian route, the programs were split in two. A boat club sits snugly as an insertion under the residential tower. The sports facility/library sits on the other side, effectively separating each program whilst maintining a visual connection and sense of community. An outdoor futsal court above the gym sits at a split-level height, allowing people to simultaneously see what is happening both above and below at the same time. The library rests on the waterfront, separated from the sports facilities via a glass walled circulation corridor. Materiality plays a crucial role in the design, with large structural wooden arches creating boundaries and awnings to mark the two primary activities within the site; the boat club and the futsal court.

my personal interest in the reuse and revitalization of found objects, this project formed the groundwork for my comprehensive 4th year housing proposal. The model picks up on many of the critical factors I aimed to implement within the proposal. A dominant propellor attached to the top allows for flight or provides power generation. A protective transparent membrane partially encapsulates the organs of the being, folding back as flower petals to reveal the source of life within. The model also aimed to compare and analyze the notions of complexity vs. contradiction, transparency vs. opacity, alienation vs. reconcilliation, intensity vs. relaxation, and density vs. sparsity.

as part of a computer modelling class, the project required us to investigate the use of Rhinocerous 4.0 in combination with the school’s newly acquired laser cutter. In my model I intended to merge both the physical and digital, and 'play' on the relationship between the two. I did this by introducing physical elements into the intitial stage of design in Rhino. With this duality in mind, I focused on the juxtaposition of the two; how they could relate to each other, interact with each other, and even compliment each other. The fluidity of the inserted digital form merges and exchanges itself with the existing in a deliberate manner. This is revealed most evidentally through the sides of the model, where the strict linerarity of the metal pieces are crossed with the roundness and ambiguity of the curvacious form. This analysis of the two realms and their accordance with each other is an ongoing comparison in my work, and I see this model as an introductory example within a larger case study based on this framework.

PHOTOGRAPHY My
personal interest in photography led me to taking a photography workshop in which we investigated forms of analog photography. From pinholes cameras to chemograms and phonograms, I thoroughly enjoyed this class and its opportunity to express architectural ideas and creativity in a diferent manner than typically displayed in architecture school.
