Foreword June 25th at dusk, the N. Koreans attacked the South Korean. Using the USSR tanks T340 they attacked and took control of most of Korea just above the Nakdong River. The most surprised was the US. To flip the war around, 16 countries from the UN lead by General MacArthur came to Busan. Turkey sent the third most amount of militants to Korea. The situation was far worse than what General MacArthur thought, so he came up with Operation Chromite. From 4 ports three in Japan and Busan they send their navies, meet in Jeju island, and attack Incheon. The attack was worth it. September 15th, they attacked Incheon, and got Seoul back just 13 days later.

Historical Narrative I couldn’t sleep. There were snores coming from everywhere in the house. I had a lot to think anyway. The North Korean were already in the village, so we were hoping for the US and UN army to come and liberate us from the North Korean. I was 10 at the time, second grade in Public primary school. They forced us to sing about the greatness of Kim IL Sung. Anyway, as I was thinking in my sheets, I suddenly heard sounds of engine. Then more. I thought it was funny since the North Korean didn’t have planes. Then, the explosions came. It was in the middle of the night. Boom! The first thing I remembered was my mother saying, “Go to the Hole when bombs start falling!” My family was paralysed for a moment but got ourselves together and ran into the Hole. The Hole wasn’t actually dug purposely. In fact, we didn’t dig it. It was a hole that was made by mortar shell that exploded in the mountains when the North Koreans came. The hole wasn’t that big. It was big enough for a small elephant to go in. My 4 siblings and me ran toward the hole with my mother close behind. It seemed like forever to climb. We went inside as we heard more planes coming from the UN army. There were bombs dropping everywhere. The hole shook from the explosions and continued for three days. Even though we were the only people there, it was dense inside. Second seemed like minutes, minutes seemed like hours and hours seemed like days. We didn’t even eat inside. We just stayed there hoping it will end.

After that, the US army told us to come out. We went back to what was left of our home. Our beautiful town looked like a tornado passed by. Nothing was left. Either it was bombed, or it was taken by the North Korean. The houses were burned to ashes, and there were no food anywhere. The fields were scorched covered with black, burned grasses. There were 6 corpses of North Koreans and South Koreans. They were sickening. The shells dropped by the planes exploded them, and as a result bloodstains were everywhere. I could see an arm separated with the body. This memory haunted me for a long time and I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

Our nation honours Her sons and daughters Who answered the call To defend a country They never knew And the people They never met Korean Veterans Memorial, Washington D.C.
