It was a normal day at work. Today was one of those special days
when I got to go to the Asian side of Istanbul. There was a day left until the weekend, so I wanted to go visit my sister, because she lived on the Asian side. When I came over there, nothing really happened, we heard that one of the bridge’s connecting the Asian and European side was shut down so we turned on the TV. Next thing I did was open the TV News channel. Then right there on the underline it said: Turkish Coup Attempt. I saw some rumours were posted on social media. I looked at the top of my news feed. Erdogan is under attack.
That night I thought about how happy I was that my kids had remained in Denmark. And I thought about what would happen if the coup succeeded and what would Turkey look like if it did? The more I thought about it the more worried I became.
That night I bought a week supplies of food and drink just in case. A couple of hours had passed and nothing too much had happened. The coup was succeeding, I thought that was going to be it. I couldn’t do anything to help it. But then BOOM out of nowhere we could hear f16 flying across the sky. So many thought’s rushing through my head. Are we going to get bombed, and what’s going to happen if we got bombed? I called Tulia my wife, and explained her what was going on. The way she talked showed her fear. We found out this was just an act to scare the public.
Then out of nowhere Erdogan had made face time call to a TV anchor for live News. This was huge! Erdogan was still alive and he told all his followers to get out of their houses and to start fighting for their country. This motivated people to fight and protest against the tanks and military on the streets. The coup plotters were slowly loosing. I wondered what Erdogan was going to do with the people he captured if the coup failed, then I shivered at the though of it. Some hours had passed and the coup had now failed. I was happy about this, but it caused a crack down. Which meant that all people involved were captured without fair trial and thrown in jail.
Afterword: The Turkish 2016 Coup. June 15 On June 15, 2016 A coup was attempted on president Erdogan. First the 15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü bridge was closed. Many people died on this occasion, then the Atatürk Airport. On while this was going on everybody thought that Erdogan was dead. But then a couple of houres later he called a TV Anchor on face time to send live to the news. Were he told people to fight the coup. This made people get out of their houses with clubs, furniture and anything they could find. This stopped the coup once and for all. This caused a crack down and all people involved were captured. This all happened in 1 day. Total deaths were 240 - Eren

Where where you during the event? I was at my sisters house on the asian side Did you get involved? No How did you get food? When we heard that a coup was taking place in the tv I quickly bought enough food for a couple of days. How did you find out? We heard that the 15 temmuz bridge was closed so we checked it out and found out a coup was taking place. Did anything special happen? Yes after it was said that Erdogan was still alive then out of nowhere we could hear f-16 planes flying across the sky. We were scared that they would bomb us. Are you happy that coup didn't succeeded Yes I was scared my kids in Denmark would stay there for a long time. But I was kind of sad that it caused a crack down.
