My interview I was 16 years old when Pakistan gained its independence.I was living in a very old part of Lahore at that time. Our house was located near Delhi Gate in a place called Kharadi Mohalla . It was the holy month of Ramadan ( according to the Islamic calendar). It was the month of fasting and it was the 27th night of Ramadan ( muslims believe that the 27th is the most holy of the whole year) . On that night we climbed on the roof and screamed “ long live Pakistan and God is great!”. All of us praying for God’s mercy for our new Country and its people. We were extremely happy and excited when we heard the news. It was like that was the best time of my life. I can still hear everybody screaming the words. We were that the Muslims of India will get to live according to their culture and tradition. We knew that this was going to happen because we're participating actively in the movement for freedom of Pakistan. Everybody was on the roof and waiting for Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
I
t was 1947. I was living in a very old part of Lahore at that time. Our house was located near Delhi Gate in a place called Kharadi Mohalla. Today was supposed to be the day where Mohammad Ali Jinnah or Kadiazim Zindabad was going to give a speech about the freedom of Pakistan. He was going to give it under Minale Pakistan. At 12:00pm we could hear people screaming Kadiazim Zindabad. I was the biggest fan of Mohammad Ali Jinnah but , today was the best day of my life because of one reason and only one reason. I was going to be able to meet my hero. I had gone to my friend’s house. I was exhausted when I came back home, but I still a tiny a bit of energy left, so the first thing that I did was ask my mom If she heard anything. But I was disappointed when I heard what she said and I ran back up to my room. Tears filled my eyes. It felt like one heart beat of mine was now beating at one minute. The sadness filled through me as I lay on my bed. I screamed “why!” as loud as I could. But still I stood strong and thought we still have some hope left. It was the middle of the day and I had just given up. I thought that the day could never , ever get any worse but of course I was wrong. The radio had turned off and the light had gone , so it was starting to get really hot. I really wanted something to go good but nothing did. For the rest of the day I just kept on getting more and more frustrated as every minute past. I just couldn’t believe what had happened today. I knew that if it were I then I would have never let the people of Pakistan down. But I guess that Mohammad Ali Jinnah had other important things to do that were more important then Pakistan.
At midnight I heard something. I quickly jerked up and looked around my room. I got of my bed and possibly looked everywhere in my room where the noise could be coming from. Then suddenly I turned around and saw the radio in the trash bin. I quickly ran towards the radio and put the volume at full. As I listened I couldn’t believe what I heard. I quickly ran down the stairs and screamed “Kadiazim Zindabad”. All of the doors opened and I screamed again “Kadiazim Zindabad” Are country had finally gained its independence.
It was now dark now and my whole family had gone to their rooms except my mom. She hadn’t moved the whole day. She had just stayed there the whole day in one chair. I sat next to her and said “ its time to go. He is not going to speak” She slowly looked at me and nodded. I helped her get up and walk her to her room. Then I grabbed the radio and took it up to my room and then I thought for one second why I had taken the radio up when I knew that he wasn’t going to say anything. So what I did was a big mistake. I threw the radio into the bin and slept.
I ran up to the roof and the first thing that I saw was the whole of Pakistan on the streets and the roofs of are new found country, Pakistan. I didn’t know what too feel right now. I was angry that he made the whole of Pakistan think that he had failed us but I was also happy that he had actually given the speech. I quickly through that out of my mind and started to scream “Pakistan Zindabad,”. At this moment I knew that tomorrow would be a new day for our new country called Pakistan.
After word The independence of Pakistan was going to happen in Karachi and the independence in India and since the British were already in Pakistan they decided to go to Karachi. The Independence of Pakistan happened on August 14,1947. On this exact Pakistan gained the power of having there own country. That is why Pakistan celebrate their independence on august 14 1947. 200,000 to 500,000 people died in the partition but many more people were injured in the genocides in both sides. They came up with the term "Pakistan" as "composed of letters taken from the names of our homelands: that is, Punjab, Afghania [NorthWest Frontier Province], Kashmir, Iran, Sindh, Tukharistan, Afghanistan, and Balochistan. It means the land of the Paks, the spiritually pure and clean."
