Community Fair Trade is at the heart of our business. It’s our unique, independently verified fair trade programme. Since 1987, we’ve been sourcing the finest raw ingredients and hand-crafted accessories from expert producers across the world and enriching economically vulnerable communities. We strive to give our support and sustained trade to the people who need it most.
OUR ACTIVIST HISTORY
For over 40 years, The Body Shop has shown the world that business could be a force for good, living and breathing our founder Dame Anita Roddick’s pioneering approach to changing the beauty industry for the better. We have produced defining campaigns about causes that matter, always standing up and campaigning for what’s right.
FOREVER AGAINST ANIMAL TESTING We’ve campaigned for a cruelty-free beauty industry since 1989. First, we helped ban animal testing in the UK. Next, we took our fight to the EU. Most recently, together with Cruelty Free International, we collected over 8 million signatures calling for a global end to animal testing in cosmetics and delivered them to the United Nations in New York. It’s the biggest campaign against animal testing EVER.
WE’RE B CORPTM CERTIFIED B Corps are businesses that live the highest social and environmental standards for people and the planet. It’s how we’ve always done business. It’s in our DNA. Now we have the stamp to prove it. Our history of engaging customers in our activist campaigns, our commitment to helping empower people and communities around the world through our Community Fair Trade Programme and our long-term objective to increase the use of Community Fair Trade recycled plastic from India in our packaging are just some of the reasons that helped us achieve B Corp status.
