My name is Tine Pinholt Thorsen I am creative and I love toys This is my Portfolio
My WORK AT LEGO.. My first 4 months at LEGO was in Licensing and Extended Line. Here I made two products: the LEGO Friends Hedgehog Storage and a birthday card. Both projects included lots of LEGO sketching with bricks and working with stakeholders from the Friends team, graphic team and more. It was such a great experience, and I am proud of my first LEGO sets.
My time in LEGO Classic is yet to be seen, as the set I worked on comes out in 2018. In LEGO Classic I got the chance to test the LEGO models with children within the target group.
Upcoming lego classic set: 10713
My Creative Self - working with paint I come from a creative home and have always enjoyed creating stuff with different materials. This includes painting, sewing, sculpturing, knitting, cross-stitching and whatever new kind of creative materials I can find. First of all, painting, where I play around with different pop art styles.
My Creative Self - working with fabrics I am working with different kinds of fabric. This has resulted in teddy bears, both new and old school styles, iPhone purses using cross-stitches, and small felt angles. I enjoy using fabrics as a way of sculpturing, mostly because it is a great material for creating cute and child-inspired things.
My Creative Self - working with paper
I use paper any way I can. Sketching, cardboard “sculpturing and using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are some of the ways in which I use paper to be creative. I like expanding my ideas into different materials. I expanded my felt angels into small Christmas cards.
My Creative Self - working with...
Some of the other materials I am working with include plastic beads, yarn. LEGO, wire, and super sculpey. As with any material, I am always very excited at the end of the process. Some of the things I do, does not reveal itself until the very end, and I always love the feeling of seeing my creations when they are done.
My medialogy degrees - BSc/MSc Medialogy is the design of digital products. During my master I specialised in Interaction Design. This meant a focus on the user and stakeholders involved. The purpose of Medialogy is to teach how to design iteratively, when involving users in the design process. This has given me experience in: • Brainstorming and prototyping concepts and products • Working with different design methodologies (co-design, ethnography, etc.) • Research of stakeholders and target groups • In field experience with users – mostly children • Using different design methods to obtain insights (interviews, workshops, tests, etc.) • Analysis and evaluation of tests/data • “Thinking out of the box” • Working in teams With my bachelor and master degree I hope to be able to develop imaginative and inspiring play experiences for children.
Designing with the target group
I have worked with different target groups during my education, including children from 2-11, young adults, adults and the elderly. During my master degree I tried to focus on only designing for children. This included co-designing with 7-9 year old girls in a drawing workshop, participatory design with 8th and 9th graders for a science program, and ethnographic methods for understanding how preschool children use iPads with physical toys.
Analysing/evaluating data Working with children can result in data in many forms. I have analysed drawings, interviews, workshops, and video recordings of concepts, prototypes and final products. Though it can be a comprehensive task, it is interesting to find out what lies behind the data.
