Due to the evolving effects of climate change, the frequency of flash flooding in cities across the world poses a growing threat to the quality of life for many. Growth of population and city expansion closer to the water bodies has created unstable living environments as overuse of impermeable materials has resulted in flooded infrastructure, polluted waters, and sediment build-up.
Morphodynamic Sedimentation proposes an alternative strategy based on a hydrophilic biocomposite designed to respond to water. It envisions a new framework for an urban ecological fabric by integrating ground conditions with Tetrapod structures to enhance hydrological response and natural attenuation as a strategy for climate resilience. By incorporating a local fabrication technique to foster flooding and sediment stewardship, I believe Morphodynamic Sedimentation can have larger implications for urbanised delta landscapes across the world.

The Tetrapod is an engineering solution for coast erosion mitigating the strength of water with friction. And it is also with friction that the pieces retian the shape of the whole system.
The design of the Tetrapods harvest the friction between the pieces to decrease the movement of the pieces when they are being hit by the waves or tidal changes.

_Digital prototype exploration
Through the utilize of local materials and sedimentation due to flooding, Bayou bricks seeks to react to water and sediment with a structure of gradient porosity based on an organic shape that responds to the topography and ultimately achieves the goal of bioreceptivity.

_TETRAPODS STUDY
The multi-porous design interacts with the dynamic flow of water. Areas of the assemblage with lower density reduce the velocity of water to direct sedimentation while areas of higher density mitigate erosion effects when the structure comes into contact with higher velocities.

HYBRID OF SPACE COLONIZATION AND FLOCKING

_HYBRID OF SPACE COLONIZATION AND SWARM INTELLIGENCE
After studying the two separate techniques, I was interested in the possibility of combining the two separate techniques and getting more results from them. After an initial intuitive analysis, both swarm intelligence and space colonization rely on a primitive point cloud. Swarm intelligence is able to generate point clouds with time-varying and collective behaviour, and if this is used as the base point set for space colonization, then the results of space colonization will change as well. The final form will also be manipulated by the development of the system itself rather than a static point set. Thus, the basic space colonization has developed smarter and more autonomous with the intervention of swarm intelligence.
