Welcome to the November issue of our featured volunteer opportunities. These roles are randomly selected to showcase the diverse volunteer roles available across County Tipperary. So far this year, volunteers registered with Tipperary Volunteer Centre have contributed over 33,500 volunteer hours to worthwhile clubs, groups, organisations and causes locally. The 215 new volunteer registrations this year, span thirty four different nationalities with female registrations outnumbering their male counterpart two to one.

Horse Care Farm Foundation

Supporting people to achieve their personal best in the natural world of horses.


Location : Birdhill Why you should consider volunteering in this role. Connecting with animals has many benefits. By volunteering in this role you will help care for horses involved in an equine assisted learning programme. You will provide opportunities for children and adults to connect with these magnificent creatures and nurture their love for nature and well-being. No Horse-Riding is involved in this role.

Location : Clonoulty Why you should consider volunteering in this role. By volunteering you will be actively involved in what is always a great family fun event, enjoyed by people of all ages.

Whether it is assisting with stewarding the tractor run or dressing up as an Elf to give a hand at the Live Crib, any assistance you could give would be appreciated. Oh, and Santa will be making an apperance too.

Tipperary RTP

Assist new drivers with preparing for their theory test


Location : Cashel Why you should consider volunteering in this role. Taking a test is a daunting experience for most of us. When coupled with literacy issues the challenge can seem unsurmountable. But you can help. By volunteering in this role you will assist a person to prepare to sit the Irish Driver Theory Test.

No Driving is involved in this role.

Location : Roscrea Why you should consider volunteering in this role. The impact on one person volunteering four hours per week means the N.C.B.I. can pay for an adult experiencing blindness to attend a Day Service for a whole week. You are not just volunteering in a Charity Shop. Your time will facilitate their shop generating much needed revenue for this national charity.

Your time is their money.

Help raise much needed funds for the National Council for the Blind Ireland.


Carrick on Suir Day Care Centre

Help with the oversight of this fantastic Day Care Centre


Location : Carrick on Suir Why you should consider volunteering in this role. If process, planning and strategic oversight is something that interest you, then this might just be what you are looking for.

In this role you will work closely with the existing Board of Directors to support the Centre Manager & Staff while strategically developing this much used local service. You will be enhancing the lives of older people in the Carrick on Suir and surrounding areas.

Location : Nenagh Why you should consider volunteering in this role. It's not only fun but also provides the opportunity for those with disabilities to enjoy physical activities while sharing the gift of friendship. Your volunteering also provides an hour or two of much needed respite to those who care for Special Olympic club members.

Experience in sports is not necessary. The emphasis is enjoyment and having fun.

Ormond Special Olympics

Promoting friendship and enjoyment through physical activities.


ALONE

Provide a listening ear, information and support to those who might need it.


Location : From Home Why you should consider volunteering in this role. We all get old, but not every old person has someone they can talk to or more importantly someone to listen to them. In this role you will be that listening ear. Full training will be provided and the great thing is that you can volunteer from the comfort of your own home.

All that is required is you commit to volunteering four hours per week for a minimum of six months.

Location : Nenagh Why you should consider volunteering in this role. Without funding much needed community services can not operate. This is not just volunteering a couple of hours to assist a local charity shop. Without volunteers the shop would not be able to operate. Which would have a negative impact on the much needed services that Silver Arch Family Resource Centre could offer. Your time will have an immediate on the ground impact for services users.
