Jack e Lorts
It was the usual day of joy in the Columbia River Gorge along the River of Life. What was taking place elsewhere, we didn’t know. We didn’t know America was falling into an abyss, that walls were crumbling, little men climbing into darkness, into an abyss.
It was the usual day of joy in the Columbia River Gorge along the River of Life. What was befalling others elsewhere, we didn’t know, what was changing light into darkness, sweetness into the bitterest gall, Icarus falling slowly from the sky.
It was the usual day of joy along the River of Life.
A retired educator living in a small town in eastern Oregon, Jack e Lorts has appeared widely, if infrequently, over the past 50+ years such places as Arizona Quarterly, Kansas Quarterly, English Journal, Chiron Review, Tipton Poetry Journal, verse daily among others. Author of three previous chapbooks, his The Love Songs of Epram Pratt appeared in 2019 from Uttered Chaos Press.
