Building community through rugby and rugby through community

HOW WE DO IT TIRF, a registered non-profit founded in 2011, builds community through rugby in 31 of Toronto’s underserved neighbourhood improvement areas (NIA) and emerging neighbourhoods. WHAT IS ROOKIE RUGBY? Throughout the summer, TIRF employs high school and post-secondary students through the support of Canada Summer Jobs, to deliver a non-contact flag rugby curriculum. The curriculum, developed by Rugby Canada and grounded in Canada Sport4Life’s Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD), uses easy to understand games to develop basic fundamental movement skills that children need to play rugby and participate in sports.
