Connecting route between the villages of Kauns and Faggen, and the feeder route to Via Claudia Augusta & the Inn Cycle Path.
This short route is the connecting route between the villages of Kauns and Faggen, and is the feeder route to the Inn Cycle Path (R3) and to Via Claudia Augusta (R8). From the town hall in Kauns, the tour proceeds along the village road to Faggen/Prutz. In Unterdorf, take a right at the bus stop into Endgasse, which merges into a forest trail at the end. The route proceeds through pastureland and a slightly forested area to the edge of a wood. Take a sharp left and ride to the centre of Faggen. The tour can also be tackled from the opposite direction.
7129 Schnadiger Weiher
Wonderful tour right through an aromatic Swiss pine forest, passing the wild and romantic Schnadigen Weiher. As a reward for the very challenging ascent, a traditional snack stop awaits in Aifneralm.
The tour starts at the council offices in Kauns, proceeding to Prutz. Take a right after the ‘WILIBU’, a left at the next junction, then keep right and follow the Auchtweg to the hamlet of Goldegg. The subsurface alternates between asphalt and gravel, with the twisting route winding through other hamlets until you reach the main road. After the crossing at Falpaus Chapel, head right, then after around 1 km head left initially and shortly after this, take a right. On a forest road (short interim stop at Schnadigen Weiher possible after around 0.5 km) the tour meanders in numerous bends, alternating between meadowland and light woodland, up to the Aifneralm. ‘Knottenkino’ on the Aifnerstein is a special highlight a 5 minute walk from the inn. The return section follows the same route.

A small, yet perfectly formed tour through a well-tended natural landscape to a hidden, wild and romantic mountain lake.
The council offices in Kaunerberg are the starting point for this small, yet perfectly formed tour. Heading uphill on slight bends, follow the signposts through the town and in a right bend head straight on to the forest trail. The forest road winds through plenty of twists and turns through lush meadows until you come to the hamlet of Schnadigen. Here the subsurface changes from gravel to asphalt. Follow the asphalt road to where this route merges on to MTB 7125 route (Aifneralm). After around 500 metres, take a right from the asphalt road onto a forest path. Pass the car park, and after a few metres on your right there is a section where you push the bike (narrow, steep path) up to Schnadiger Weiher. Another worthwhile destination is the tour to the Aifneralm (MTB 7125). The return section follows the same route.
7130 Wallfahrtsrunde Kaltenbrunn

This route provides the perfect blend of challenging ascents, exciting descents and picturesque villages.
This variety-packed circular tour provides different variants and can even be started from Kauns or Kaunerberg. The main exit point is in Kaunertal in the hamlet of Nufels at the car park after the chapel. The tour proceeds out of the valley towards Kaltenbrunn pilgrimage church, where you take a right just before you get there. The road winds steeply uphill in 14 sharp bends, past Wiesenhof through extensive meadows, continuing to Oberfalpetan. From here, head down to Unterfalpetan, where the subsurface changes from gravel to asphalt. In the hamlet of Prantach, take a right and head past the chapel, following the village road, heading for Kaunerberg council offices to Schlossbach bus stop, where you keep right and head to Piller. Take a left in the village of Gaiswies and take sharp left on to the forest trail at the first houses. After around 500 m the subsurface changes for a short section to asphalt. Follow the signposts for Kauns to the council offices, continuing then to the end of the village, past Burg Berneck, right through the narrowp section. Now take a left on to the Kaltenbrunn pilgrimage path. Look out for pilgrimage walkers! Follow the signposts to the pilgrimage church and back to the starting point.
Medium-difficult tour with a breath-taking mountain panorama and refreshment stop option on the Falkaunsalm. A detour to Kaltenbrunn pilgrimage church is always well worthwhile.

Up at Wiesenhof the subsurface turns from asphalt to gravel. After around 1 km along the forest road you come to the ‘Wiese’ rest point, which tempts you to take a break and enjoy the breath-taking view to the surrounding mountains. Keep right at the next crossing and follow the path to Falkaunsalm. For the return, either follow the same route or take the moderately difficult Wallfahrtsrunde Kaltenbrunn (MTB 7130) route to Kauns or Kaunerberg.
7131 Verpeilalm

Through an idyllic high valley above Feichten, this tour proceeds into the lofty heights at the Adlerblick. Alpine cosiness and culinary high points await at Verpeilhütte for anyone who wants to do another short walk from the Verpeilalm to the inn.
This challenging tour starts at the gravel car park just before Quellalpin in Kaunertal. From here, you head into the valley towards Feichten, crossing a wooden bridge, then heading left. After Hotel Lärchenhof keep right. A forest path now start, asphalt to begin with, then changing after a few metres to gravel. At the 1st junction take a left and follow the path to the Adlerblick viewing platform. Those who would like to can enjoy an interim stop and take in the views to Kaunertal. Just before the Verpeilalm at 1802m (not open for business), the mountain bike path finishes at the car park. Anyone who would like to continue to Verpeilhütte can do so on foot.

Adventure-filled tour through a ancient spruce forest to Langetsberg viewing point, which provides panoramic views to Kaunertal’s mountains.
The bike tour to Langetsberg starts in the Kaunertal town of Vergötschen, at the car park directly at the playground. Ride over the link bridge past the farm buildings, where you soon come to a gate. On the forest path the subsurface now changes from asphalt to gravel. The tour meanders through forested area, uphill via 17 sharp bends. The route heads to the Langetsbergalpe – not open for business –and to your destination, the Langetsberg viewing point at 2110m.
Your efforts are rewarded with a superb panoramic view to the Kaunertal mountains. The return follows the same route.
7105 Leitenwaldweg Prutz - Fendels

The mountain bike link through the Leitenwaldweg between Prutz and Fendels.
Start direct at the information office in Prutz or at the town hall in Ried. Follow the asphalt cycle path to the outdoor pool in Prutz. From there, cross the car park to get to the country road, then first go right, then an immediate left to Fendels. After a few metres a forest trail branches off on the right side. Follow this path for almost a kilometre, until this becomes a narrow woodland path. This continues steeply uphill and after around 450 metres you come to a small chapel. There are a few sharp bends to negotiate until you finally come to the village road in Fendels. From there, you can head right into the centre of the village and to the cable car.
The tour can also be tackled in the opposite direction. 1km 2km
Handling grazing cattle
1. Avoid contact with grazing animals. Do not feed the animals, maintain a safe distance at all times!
2. Try not to be loud. Do not startle cattle!
3. Mother cows protect their calves. Avoid cows with calves, especially if you have a dog with you!
4. Always keep dogs under control and on a short leash. If it becomes clear that a cow is going to attack: Let your dog off the lead immediately!
5. Do not stray from the path!
6. If grazing animals block your path, go or cycle–around them at the greatest possible distance. If necessary, push the bike!
7. If a cow approaches you: Stay calm, don’t turn your back on the animal and give it a wide berth!
8. At the first sign of the animals seeming unsettled, remain calm and leave the area quickly!
9. Respect fences! If there is a gate, please use it and close it afterwards, then cross the meadow swiftly!
10. Treat the people who work here, the countryside and the animals with respect!
