FENDELS

Fendels is situated at 1,356 m above sea level and offers countless opportunities for young and old alike. It’s the ideal starting point for fabulous hikes at all degrees of difficulty, e.g. the Fallenden Bach stream and Anton-Renk mountain hut.

KAUNS

The village of Kauns is an excellent starting point for numerous hikes such as the peaks of the Aifner Spitze and the Piller Höhe, as well as the Falpaus area. Kauns is very popular thanks to its mild and pleasant climate.

KAUNERBERG

The idyllic Kaunerberg Nature Park community offers guests many hours of sunshine and is ideal for nature lovers thanks to the seemingly limitless possibilities for tours.

KAUNERTAL

The Kaunertal valley with its numerous managed Alpine pastures, huts, highaltitude and themed paths is attractive for hikers and summit enthusiasts, as well as those seeking relaxation.

FAMILY CLIMBING AT THE FERNERGRIES MOUNTAIN

Play and romp like an ibex in the mountains. Together, the entire family can try out rock climbing for the first time. Afterwards, the group will grill sausages at an open fireplace at the foot of the climbing garden.

HOLDERLI-SEPPL VIA FERRATA

Along the cascades of the Rifflerbach waterfall, the Holderi-Seppl via ferrata extends above the Fernergries high valley. Surrounded by stone pine trees and close to the roaring stream, we’ll explore this mountain landscape once covered by glacial ice.

GLACIER EXPERIENCE TOUR

Well equipped with crampons, rope and harness, we’ll hike to the edge of the Gepatschferner, the second largest glacier in Austria. We’ll peer into the glacial snout and cross millennia-old ice fields along the glacier tongue.

THE PEAK OF THE WEISSSEESPITZE 3518MHIGH-ALPINE TOUR FOR ADULTS ONLY

Ascend with us to the “Queen of the Kaunertal valley,” one of the region’s most popular Alpine touring destinations. After ascending with the Falginjochbahn cable car to the Kaunertal Glacier, head via the west ridge secured by rope to the summit. Once at the top, enjoy grandiose glacier views. This eventful high-altitude tour requires sturdy mountain boots and weatherproof clothing including gloves. The mountain guides will provide a climbing harness, helmet and crampons.

RESEARCHER.DAY WITH STOFFL STRUDLWURM

Are you familiar with Stoffl Strudelwurm? He lives in a mountain stream and is excellent at climbing. He is terribly nervous, however. Can you help him? Using cup-shaped magnifying glasses, discover the many small inhabitants of the forests and meadows and find out what the Gnarly Wolf and Walli Water Fairy are up to. At noon there will be a barbecue.

GEPATSCHFERNER GLACIER TRAIL - RED ROCKS HIKE

Starting in Oberbirg, follow the hiking guide far up into Alpine terrain. Via steep tracks and pathless terrain, this hike leads along a wild glacier stream to the galcier tongue. We will then return via the red shimmering rocks of the Fernergriess area.

ONE HUNDRED METRES UP ON THE SEITWAND ROCK FACE, THE ADLERBLICK VIEWING PLATFORM IS PERCHED HIGH ABOVE FEICHTEN.

Here you can get up close to the mighty peaks of the Kaunertal mountains and get a bird‘s eye view of the valley. A small footpath connects the Adlerblick viewing platform with the Bergwerksblick viewing platform. This platform overlooks a steep slope where centuries ago the Kaunertal valley miners used to mine.

This is the starting point for a journey into the past and into the heart of the mountain. The Knappensteig trail leads hikers through the history and tradition of mining in the Kaunertal valley. Search for ore yourself at the miners‘ hut and share a snack with the wooden miners. Two accessible miner‘s caves from the 16th and 17th centuries can also be visited along the trail.
