Kaunertal at nightThe darkest place in Austria

Immerse yourself in the vastness of the universe… Here, the cosmos itself is our planetarium!

THE STAR BOWL

The ‘Sternenschale’ star bowl is a special feature on the mountain. It has a diameter of almost 7 metres and offers space for around 15-20 people. Both the stone and the Swiss stone pine were sourced from the region and were laid in collaboration with local craftsmen.

The Sternenschale star bowl is open to the public around the clock. It can be reached via the newly renovated “old Gepatschweg” from the Gepatsch reservoir, or via a renovated trail and newly built bridge from the Gepatschhaus hut.

MOONSCAPES

Amongst all the celestial bodies, the moon plays a very special role for us and our earth. In addition to processes such as low tide and high tide, the moon also influences plant growth and therefore has a significant influence on the rhythm of traditional agriculture in the Kaunertal valley. Many natural processes follow the cycle of the waxing and waning moon. Join us and immerse yourself in the vastness of the universe amid breathtaking natural scenery at night.
