TRAVELLING TO MADRID Madrid is a well-connected city in terms of transport and has an International Airport approximately 20 minutes from the city center. It has a broad metro, bus and rail network across the city. Depending on where you plan to stay, it is also a very walkable city.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FRS is an open course. We accept applicants who are studying University, undergraduate or postgraduate studies and also young professionals wishing to do a career change into Fashion. College applicants who are preparing for University study in the fall semester will also be considered.
SUMMER SCHOOL
If you are a non-native speaker of English a minimum level of English fluency is recommended: European B1-B2 /First Cambridge Exam or equivalent, although it is not mandatory to have such.

A SUMMER EXPERIENCE INTO SPANISH FASHION Since 2012 Villanueva University offers the Fashion Retailing in Spain Summer School (FRS) an intensive, three-week summer experience focused on Spanish Fashion Retail brands. It is an international course, 100% in English which comprises lectures and workshops by local and international experts from the Spanish Fashion Industry and visiting professors from prestigious fashion institutions across the globe, among them the top world ranking London College of Fashion (LCF) and Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) New York as well as Villanueva University (Complutense University), Madrid and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), Scotland.
MADRID LOCATION HIGHLIGHTS FRS Summer School includes sessions in the Villanueva University Campus, north of Madrid, and also includes fashion retail routes across the city and visits to fashion company headquarters and factories. In addition, Madrid has a wide array of shopping-hubs and cultural and entertainment offers for you to enjoy. The city of Madrid is also well communicated with other cities for those wishing to visit touristic cities such as Barcelona, spend a weekend at the beach near Valencia region or Andalucía.
PROGRAM AND KEY ACTIVITIES AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT PROFILE It is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students from around the globe wishing to live an immersion into the Spanish Fashion retail industry. Countries of provenance include: France, Germany, Czech Republic, Spain, México, Scotland, South Korea, Singapur, Venezuela and El Salvador to mention just some.
Fashion Retailing in Spain Summer School provides an opportunity for students to gain an in-depth overview of the diversity of the Spanish Fashion Retail industry and its different type of companies. It has a focus on developing a professionally focused mindset of Spanish Fashion Brands across a series of lectures, workshops, industry visits and retail routes in Madrid. Topics to be covered include: • Spanish Fashion Industry overview & analysis • Fashion Retail Brands’s strategies and trends • Innovative fashion companies and digital transformation • Customer shopping experience and visual merchandising insights
Assesment: Students also work in small groups to complete a final project in order to apply knowledge learnt to a specific fashion brand.
