HOW DOES A CLIENT GO ABOUT

CHOOSING A HAIRSTYLE FOR THEIR WEDDING DAY?

On your wedding day, you should look like yourself! You don’t want to look back in a year’s time and think “why did I do that?“ Your wedding day hair should be the best version of you. Trends will come and go, but your wedding pictures won’t.

HOW DOES THE WEDDING DRESS STYLE IMPACT HAIR

AND MAKEUP?

It’s all about balance. You should take the neckline and shape of the dress into mind. For example, if there’s a lot going on with your dress, keep hair and makeup a little more simple. Or if the dress is simple, you can be a bit more dramatic with the hair. If the dress has a high neckline, consider wearing your hair up. Ask yourself, what do the proportions of the dress do and how can you balance everything out?

HOW CAN A CLIENT HELP THEIR STYLIST ACHIEVE THEIR DREAM WEDDING LOOK?

Definitely do a trial! Someone who already knows your hair and what you like is more likely to get it right for your wedding day. Bring a lot of pictures with you to your trial appointment and play before the big day. You don’t want your wedding day to be all about your hair, you want it to be about the person you’re marrying.

HOW SHOULD A CLIENT BRING THEIR HAIR TO THEIR APPOINTMENT? WHAT ARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR WORKING WITH DIFFERENT HAIR TYPES AND TEXTURES?

It’s always best to ask your stylist how you should bring your hair depending on your hair texture and the style you’re aiming to achieve

for your wedding day. Sometimes a tad bit dirty is better. Sometimes it’s not. Choose a stylist who knows how to work with the texture of your hair—you don’t want any surprises on the day of your wedding.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE HAIRSTYLE TREND

RIGHT NOW?

I tend not to follow trends. I think whatever makes your client look and feel their best is always the right move. If you feel your best with your hair in a textured updo or loose down your back, you’ll look stunning in that style.

WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE CELEBRITIES

TO STYLE AND WHY?

Sarah Jessica Parker—who I’m currently working with—Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Katie Holmes, and Julianne Moore to name a few. They’re the kindest, most down-to-earth people with amazing talents and great hair.

IF YOU COULD STYLE THE HAIR OF ANY

CELEBRITY FOR THEIR WEDDING, WHO WOULD IT BE?

The Queen of England, when she marries again.

WHAT HAIRSTYLE DO YOU HOPE MAKES

A COMEBACK?

Anything from the 70s. Middle parts are already making a comeback! If you consider yourself a flower child, consider wearing your hair in relaxed, cascading waves or in boho braids on your wedding day. If it suits your wedding style, a flower crown is a nice addition.

WHAT ARE YOUR MUST-HAVE TOOLS OR PRODUCTS TO HAVE WHEN STYLING HAIR?

I always need my Harry Josh Pro Tools and Serge Normant products. They never disappoint!

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE WHICH HAIRSTYLIST IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

Choosing your wedding day hairstyle should be a collaboration and a discussion with your stylist. Make sure that when you’re referencing the hairstyles of other people or celebrities as an example, those people have a very similar hair type as you.

IS THERE A SPECIFIC STYLE YOU RECOMMEND OR DON’T RECOMMEND FOR CLIENTS WEARING

A VEIL?

There’s no specific way to wear your hair with a veil. Whether you choose to wear your hair up or down, you should look at your veil as the cherry on top. If you’re planning on wearing a veil for the ceremony and reception, make sure it’s very secure—you might even want to sew it into your hair. You don’t want it to fly off while you’re dancing!

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE BRIDAL HAIR

ACCESSORIES?

Decorative combs, flowers, and fine jewelry can all be amazing accessories for your hair. You can use hair accessories to tie together your entire wedding day look, but make sure they complement your dress.
