My company Stylz and Company assists women who have lost their hair due to cancer or alopecia. She was a hand-picked member of the Hair Styling Team for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. And her work has appeared in several leading high-profile hair magazines. Throughout her 16-year career, this pro has styled the hair of many prominent people worldwide. She has an affinity for beautiful, healthy hair - - and it definitely shows! Although well known for these notable successes, Karen has a special passion for the hair care needs of the everyday professional woman. And she is committed to helping them look their very best. “Everyone’s hair care needs are different,” explains the president, CEO, and educational director for Dolce’ Hair Designs. We address the specific hair care needs of the individual.” And Karen has the technical know-how and professional expertise under her belt to do just that. Well-trained and seasoned, she has the experience and right prescriptives to help address, treat and correct many common hair and scalp conditions - i.e., alopecia, dry, brittle hair and seborrhea. “We recognized the need for a salon with a multi-cultural focus, yet with an emphasis on the specific needs of African-American women who desire to receive professional services in an upscale, salon setting,“ notes Karen. We are very sensitive to the needs of ethnic hair. We focus on the treatment and reversal of various common hair problems and related conditions for all races --- including improperly administered chemical services, medical issues, hair loss/cancer survivors, and thinning hair.”
With a specialization in all types and textures of hair, Karen Owens opened her first salon, Hair Atlanta Of Buckhead, in 1997. Here, she immediately put her cosmetology training --- and experience in multi-cultural hair styling --- to work. Her efforts quickly paid off. Highly successful, in 2004 she decided to further expand the salon. She added more client services, focused more on in-salon stylist educational opportunities and training, and changed the salons’ name to Dolce’ Hair Designs. At this leading salon, professional advice and guidance for customers in proper hair care techniques and styling tools is always a top priority. The goal: optimal hair health. Karen notes, “Dolce’ Hair Designs has a strong reputation for exceptional customer service and healthy hair care. that time, all aspects of the business have continued to grow and the salon has become further established in the greater Atlanta community. When asked about specialized hair care treatments, Karen says, “The best way I can answer that is to emphasize that our focus is on education for the stylists, because the reasons for hair problems a client is experiencing can vary. As a stylist, one needs to know and understand what to do for each type of problem. Research, training, and a basic understanding of hair chemistry, products, and conditions are very important.”
