Dear friends and family,
July 22, 2015
First off I have to admit, it has been a while since I have mailed out our newsletter in paper. We have sent several updates out via email over the last year, but none on paper. So, if you are hearing from us for the first time in a long time and would rather hear more frequently, please let me know. I will mail it via USPS or email, whichever you would like. I am feeling more caught up in the office than I have felt for quite a while. Dan, my coworker, has been able to put in more hours this spring and summer than in recent years. This helps tremendously as he keeps attending to new software development which allows me to spend time doing sales and support. However, he will now be out of the office until at least the beginning of October. We have had many requests in Computer Services for software. Much of the new requests are either smart phone apps or something requiring slight changes to our existing desktop applications. When I started to get overwhelmed with support calls recently, I realize I felt that way because I have been blessed with supporting over 45 different ministries from coast to coast that are using over 20 different pieces of software. Just 10 of these ministries that we assist have ministries in over 45 countries. This summer I have had two interns in Computer Services. Alex and Drew are both LeTourneau University students. Alex, our son, kept looking for a paid internship, but when none came his way I told him “I know a guy who can put you to work programming smart phone apps.” Alex and Drew have developed apps to submit and track maintenance requests as well as to allow a missionary to track support needs, commitments and mailing list info all on the phone/tablet. Alex also helped get a new file server running for TECH as well as doing enhancements to other smart phone apps. Kay and I went to Leesburg, VA for her niece’s wedding. Since we were that direction we spent a couple of days in Washington DC then a couple more in Shenandoah National Park. We had a great time away. We have had short visits earlier in the summer from Isaac one weekend then from Ethan & Erin the next. As always, please pass this along to anyone who will pray, give or come! We need more computer staff as well as more prayer and financial backing. If you want to hear from us more regularly, please send an email or note letting me know. Serving through systems,
