“I DON’T LET ANYTHING KEEP ME DOWN” Daniel Ponce de Leon is a professional baseball pitcher who began his career with the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 2014. One spring day in 2017, Daniel was close to breaking through to the majors as a starting pitcher for the Cardinals’ AAA team, the Memphis Redbirds, when he was pitching against the Iowa Cubs and suffered an injury that brought him closer to death—and to God—than he’d ever been before.
