Planning a move can become very stressful, so here are a few tips to help your move go easier. When packing glassware, put the heavy items on bottom and end with lightest pieces on top. When packing dishes, wrap them in plain newsprint and pack vertically rather than stacking them on top of one another. Remove light bulbs from lamps before packing. When doing your own packing, make sure to have ample supplies of tissue paper, packing paper (plain newsprint), 2 inch packing tape, masking tape, permanent markers, professional quality boxes as well as a utility knife and scissors. If possible, only use boxes designed for moving. Boxes from grocery and retail stores may not be strong enough to hold your belongings. Don't use plastic containers as they tend to collapse when stacked. Also, as you are packing your boxes make sure to label them as to which room they need to go to so you are able to bring the boxes straight to their designated rooms at your new home. If you are planning on hiring a moving company, make sure to do your research and hire a professional and reputable moving company.
