Welcome to
Park Hall Stadium Today we draw the curtain on the final game of the first phase of the season as we face South Walians Carmarthen Town. A warm welcome to their Directors, staff, players and supporters who have made the journey North today from West Wales. Things are pretty tight for that top six finish with today’s opponents, Port Talbot and Newtown all vying for a top half finish. Last weekend we travelled to the North Wales coast in what must have been some of the worst football conditions possible. A heavy pitch coupled with blustery wind played havoc throughout, the objective though of winning the game and collecting three points was achieved much to the delight of our faithful band of loyal supporters who made the journey and no doubt to Craig and the team as well.
Today we also welcome our corporate guests, including today’s sponsors Turner Peachey, our club insurers Red Insure and Arthur’s of Oswestry. Thanks again for your continued support. Once again we also have our monthly Academy awards organised by our academy team. Congratulations to all of our monthly winners and we hope you enjoy today’s game with your families. Keep cheering us on, the players really appreciate it.
Ian Williams Chief Operating Officer
You will have read recently that a number of our players have gone out on loan or have had their existing deals extended, it’s important that players get games on a regular basis so hopefully the players that have been loaned out will benefit from the arrangement as well as giving the respective clubs, players to bolster their teams.

The Manager’s
Notes
We have played really well in the first phase of the season and intend on finishing with a win. First of all I would like to welcome Carmarthen Town to Park Hall in what is our last game of the first phase of Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League fixtures. I would like to welcome Mark Aizelwood, the Carmarthen fans and everybody that is associated with the Old Gold to the game today. We have been brilliant in the first phase and I couldn’t be happier with my players. To be unbeaten at this stage is a great feeling and it is something we are hoping to continue.
going to be a tough game but despite that, I intend on playing a strong side here at Park Hall today, as we search for another important three points. Get behind the lads and cheer us on! Enjoy the game!

Player Profiles
The club’s first season in the revamped league was inconsistent and in January 2012, former coach Mark Aizlewood was appointed as manager in an attempt to save the club from relegation. With some new signings he managed the virtually impossible and the following summer changed the vast majority of the team’s personnel. This resulted in the club having its best season for many years. The League Cup success against TNS on a cold January day in Newtown was followed by qualification for the WPL Championship Conference.
6 | www.tnsfc.co.uk
Aizlewood made a number of signings for the following season and with the new players blending in well success came once again to Carmarthen when Bala Town were defeated in the League Cup final held at Aberystwyth. The Old Gold played their 600th Welsh Premier League match in early March 2014 which was a far cry from that initial 1950/51 season. For the current 2014/15 season Aizlewood has recruited another group of players due to losing many regulars mainly due to work commitments. His efforts at blending experience with youth will be shown as the season wears on.

Carl Darlington moves onto a
New Role at Wrexham Carl Darlington was at The New Saints Football Club since 2010 The New Saints First Team Coach Carl Darlington has decided to leave the club to join Wrexham FC in the Vanarama Conference. Darlington joined The New Saints in May 2010 working alongside the clubs then Director of Football Mike Davies, with the pair successfully beating Irish Champions Bohemians in the UEFA Champions League qualifier in 2010. Darlington was influential in bringing First Team Manager Craig Harrison to the club following Davies’ departure in January 2011, having worked previously with Harrison at Airbus UK Broughton. The newly formed partnership has helped The
New Saints win the Welsh Premier title for a record eight times, winning three consecutive titles as well as winning the Welsh Cup in 2012 and 2014. As a UEFA Pro Licence holder, Darlington played a major part in the club’s playing style, creating a unique football philosophy that runs throughout the club from the first team down to the young academy squads. ‘The New Saints wish Carl the very best with his new role’ commented Chairman Mike Harris. ‘Carl brought a great deal of technical professionalism and organisation to our club during his time with us and has helped develop the clubs football philosophy, leaving a unique legacy behind’ he concluded.’

Cefn Druids AFC
Match Report 3-1 win against Cefn Druids AFC, puts TNS 12 points clear at top The New Saints beat Cefn Druids at a cold Park Hall Stadium by three goals to one in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League. Goals from Mike Wilde, Adrian Cielsewicz and Kai Edwards sealed the points for the Welsh Premier League Champions. TNS took the lead after only ten minutes when Wilde met a corner and headed past Louis Gray to give his side an early lead. Shortly after, Chris Seargeant tried his luck from 30 yards out but the ball whistled inches over with Gray beaten. Midway through the first half and after a scrappy ten minutes of play, The Saints won a free kick on the edge of the box. Seargeant stepped up and struck the post as TNS nearly doubled their advantage.
The Druids looked lively on the break but were unable to create anything that troubled Paul Harrison as TNS controlled the possession. However, with only fifteen minutes left, substitute Derek Taylor pulled a goal back after TNS had failed to clear a corner. Craig Harrison then gave Jamie Reed his debut for The Saints as he looked to finish off the game. The game eventually was finished off in the 89th minute when Edwards bundled in a Chris Marriott free kick.
Aeron Edwards then shot straight at Gray as TNS continued to dominate the match. The second half started with TNS dictating the tempo and on the hour mark, Cieslewicz provided the best moment of the match. Having picked up the ball on the wing, the former Wrexham man dribbled into the box before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Prestatyn Town FC
Match Report The New Saints came back from a goal down to beat Prestatyn Town at Bastion Gardens in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League. Goals from Scott Quigley, Jamie Reed and Matty Williams gave TNS a deserved three one victory. With the wind affecting the game, Jordan Davies opened the scoring with a very powerful low drive after TNS had failed to clear the danger on the edge of their box. The forward then headed against the bar after a scramble in the TNS box. The Saints struggled to get out of their half due to the magnitude of the wind and with twenty minutes played, the impressive Davies shot inches over from long range. However, The Saints went into the break level after a wonder goal from Quigley. The powerful forward picked the ball up inside his own half before driving into the Prestatyn box and finishing past Scott Williams to ensure that TNS went into the break level. The second half started with both Chris Seargeant and Quigley going close as the home side struggled to get out of their half. Reed who replaced Mike Wilde at half time, then scored his first ever goal for The Saints. After a brilliant Chris Marriott corner, Reed managed to find space in the congested box and poked the ball in from close range.
The Saints continued to push forward in search of the third goal and it came thanks to substitute Williams. The home goalkeeper misjudged the ball which resulted in an open goal for Williams who calmly rolled it in from six yards out. The late goal from Williams was the last piece of action as TNS went 14 points clear at the top of the table.

Column
Today’s game means more to the visitors than it does to the hosts. People would think it is a normal afternoon at The Venue, but it is far from that as the game has massive significance to Carmarthen.
Massive thanks for Prestatyn Town for their hospitality as they had us in a nice warm and sheltered cabin behind the goal, and away from the wind. And it was also good to get Mike Wilde on the show after his head injury in the first half, and I would like to wish him all the best in his recovery from injury.
They need to win to secure their place in the top six, as they face the toughest of fixtures compared to their top six rivals.
This week should be a great show with the possibilities and outcomes in the top six still in the balance, and a high profile guest to go with it.
Port Talbot face Bala, which again is a tough clash, and Newtown travel to Connah’s Quay so it is all hanging in the balance.
Cortez Belle will be with us for the live commentary on Saturday, and it will be good to have expert analysis on the game.
Sunday afternoon will be a very interesting 90 minutes for them three sides.
Jonny Drury
The Saints will be looking for another routine win as they already sit 14 points clear at the top of the table after last weekends win over Prestatyn. The side seems to be stronger than ever at the present moment, with Craig Harrison having the luxury of bringing Jamie Reed off the bench to score in the second period. In other matters TNS Radio seems to be going from strength to strength at the moment. With the acquisition of sound man Sam Thomas we are almost guaranteed to be on air every week, and we had a great show at Prestatyn last weekend.

With the Rev Welcome to the first Rev’s radio ramblings of 2015. For those of you that do tune in and listen to us, we thank you for your support and we want you to know that you’re very much appreciated. As far as we’re concerned, you’re all part of the journey that we’re on. We’re in this together! And talking of the journey, if we had a headline for today’s matchday column it would read ‘And then there were four’, as we’re pleased to announce that Sam Thomas has joined Gilbert, Jonny and me. Sam made his debut at the recent Cefn Druids game and we were so impressed we signed him up! What Sam will be bringing specifically to the team is the technical knowledge that we’ve been short of so far. If you have been a regular listener then you’ll know we have struggled from time to time, but now that Sam’s on board hopefully the journey is onwards and upwards. I was totally impressed with the way he set up a live telephone link with Chairman Mike Harris, who was in South Africa. It all went so smoothly, and basically if we can do this from the other side of the world, then the UK is going to be plain sailing. As they say, watch this space.

We’ve been running a prediction competition for a few weeks now called #BeatTheBelle. Cortez gives us his and then we open it up to see what others say. He gets it wrong, you get it right, you’ve #BeatTheBelle. Simple as that. Check it out on Twitter (search the hashtag) and let us have yours.

Craig Harrison wins
Manager of the Month TNS Manager Craig Harrison has won the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Manager of the Month for the month of December. The former Premier League defender guided The Saints to home wins over gap Connah’s Quay and Bala Town as well as a convincing victory away at Port Talbot Town during the month of December. TNS currently sit on top of the pack after 20 games with 50 points, 12 points clear of second place Bala Town and are still unbeaten in the league.
Harrison, has so far guided TNS to three WPL titles and two FAW Welsh Cups during his time at Park Hall Stadium.

The New Saints FC Academy News I’d like to start with an announcement that Steve Benyon and Jason Brindley will be assisting me with academy management duties from now on. Jason, who coaches the under 7s and 14s will be in charge of 7-11s and Steve who takes the 16s, assists with the 15s and has a role with our scholars will head up the 12-16s. Both are enthusiastic, driven and are improving tactically as coaches which is a great help to me and the football club. Jason is working towards his B license and Steve is on his FAW A youth license. My role within the club has changed slightly, I’m now assistant manager of the first team and will be putting more effort into coaching. It’s a brilliant opportunity for me and one I’m very grateful for. I’ve been at TNS for thirteen years and to be able to work in full time football for so long is a privilege.

Community Foundation 2015 is set to be a big year for the Community Foundation Team. I have been given the opportunity to take the project on a full time basis, allowing us to focus on continuing and improving what we achieved in 2014. As a coaching team we have created a new school/ community delivery plan to overall improve the standard of delivery we currently provide. This will benefit schools and the development programmes we currently have in place, Sessions are linked to players at the club and have hidden Numeracy & Literacy tasks for Children to learn as well as having fun. We have also met with key partners to discuss working in continued collaboration on a verity of projects. We have been successful in gaining funding for a project for targeted at providing
Girls an opportunity to exercise and gain skills via workshops. The project is to be held as an afterschool activity this will hopefully be sustained by the students after a 10 week period. Sessions are also starting for the students of the Derwen College to participate in Zumba classes delivered by Shelly McGlinchey at the Venue, this part of their extra curricular activity and we hope they enjoy using our facilities and look forward to further sessions we can help facilitate. The league is set to split after todays fixtures with all results effecting teams differently, with this is mind I am sure we are in for an interesting tie against Carmarthen this afternoon. I wish Craig, Scott and the team the very best in continuing the unbeaten run.
