MAY 6 – 16th Bark in the
Park 2022. Main Street Winter Haven is PAWsitively thrilled to celebrate our furry companions with pet-friendly vendors, owners, and dog enthusiasts alike gathering in Central Park. Attendees can enjoy an evening stroll to shop for pet items such as collars, leashes, organic dog treats, and more! The park will be full of vendors offering services like free nail trims, information about lodging, obedience training, grooming…the whole nine yards! Don’t forget – each year Bark in the Park hosts the Annual Wiener Dog Race, beginning at 7pm in South Central Park. Dachshunds will race for the coveted title of “Fastest Wiener in Town”! MAY 6 – May First Friday.
Head to Downtown Lakeland on the first Friday of every month for First Friday; new theme each month. This month is Family Fun Night sponsored by Lakeland Moonwalk. Downtown shops and restaurants will be open late. Enjoy goodies, giveaways, and discounts from local business exhibitors. Shop in the Makers Market, which features local artists and creators, and check out the Classy Car Show on Main St. First Friday is a family-friendly event held in the streets of Downtown Lakeland between Lemon Street and Oak Street along Kentucky Ave. and Main St. Downtown Lakeland, Fri 6-9 pm. MAY 6 to 8 – Hot Air Balloon
Festival. This aerial event brings the spectacle and grace of evening twilight hot air balloon glows plus early morning and late afternoon mass ascensions. There is just so much going on at this event! A variety of entertainment including balloon rides, tethered rides, balloon night glows, a car show, helicopter rides, a carnival, vendors, live music and great food will make this 2nd annual event a family must-do. MAY 7 – Mayfaire 5K Run &
Walk. Celebrate 43 years of the Mayfaire 5k Road Race and Walk with an evening run or walk from downtown Lakeland through the historic Lake Morton district. This race is hosted by Lakeland Runners Club, Inc., a nonprofit organization, that promotes running and fitness for people of all ages and abilities in the community. Lakeland Food Truck Rally.
Tampa Bay Food Truck Rally brings food trucks to Munn Park on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Come on out to Downtown Lakeland and enjoy a variety of Florida food trucks and their delicious cuisine. 20 plus food trucks come together each month and park on the streets surrounding beautiful Munn Park. MAY 17 – Tasty
Tuesday. Third Tuesday of every month. 10 tastes from downtown bars, restaurants and sweet shops. New offerings every month. Tasty Tuesdays are a super fun way to experience multiple Downtown restaurants all in one night! You get hearty sample sizes with each ticket, and move from place to place at your own pace! MAY 4 – One Night of Queen.
Performed by Gary Mullen & The Works. In 2000, Gary Mullen won ITV’s “Stars in Their Eyes” Live Grand Final, with the largest number of votes ever received in the show’s history. As a result, Gary began touring on his own and in 2002 formed a band ‘The Works’, to pay tribute to rock legends Queen. Since then ‘Gary Mullen and the Works’ have performed throughout the UK, USA, Europe, South Africa and New Zealand to sell-out audiences. The band have also twice rocked the prestigious BBC Proms in the Park, in front of a very enthusiastic crowd of 40,000. One Night of Queen is a spectacular live concert, recreating the look, sound, pomp and showmanship of arguably the greatest rock band of all time. This show will ROCK you! Balmoral. By popular demand Havana Nights returns to Balmoral Bar and Grill with TIMBALIVE. Cuban-style salsa band to entertain us with their high-energy dance music “TIMBA”. JUN 26 – Theo Von, Return of
the Rat Tour. Theo Von grew up in the stray animal belt of southern Louisiana. He was a child there and slowly became an adult. He can be seen and heard weekly on his widely popular podcasts that garner millions of listens/views a month. Theo’s new comedy special “Regular People” was filmed at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN and is now streaming on Netflix. In the Spring of 2020 Theo completed his two year Dark Arts Tour, which took him across America, Australia, and Europe, and another country. Featuring rock band Smokepoint, this event is a benefit for the SPCA Florida. Along with the 98.3FM BIG MAX Morning Team Eric and Mike, join us for a fun evening of live music, great food, drinks and spirits, dancing, raffles, event concert T-Shirts, and party with us to help the animals who need emergency disaster response and recovery help.
