As Stephanie casually scrolled through a dating app, a profile filled with food and travel photos caught her eye. She hit connect. Jason, also seeing Stephanie’s foodie and travel pics, was immediately intrigued. The rest, as they say, is history.

One small hiccup: The vow books were forgotten during the ceremony! While they were hunted down, the guests killed time by taking photos of the couple.

Traditions: The couple included traditional Chinese door games. “The bride hides while the bridesmaids try to deter the groom and groomsmen from getting to the bride through a series of games,” says Stephanie. “If the groom and groomsmen fail at any of the games, they are dealt with a punishment or they can pay and bribe their way through. We followed the door games with a traditional tea ceremony where the bride and groom pay respect to their parents.” Guest memories: So what will guests remember most? Stephanie says it’s the latenight egg waffles. “It is definitely a snack that represents us, 100 percent. It is a local street snack from Hong Kong and we have it pretty often, along with bubble tea.” (Note: the place cards featured a wax seal with bubble tea!) Virtual love: “Our original guest list was 110 and due to the pandemic, most, if not all, of our overseas family and friends could not make it. We felt disappointed, but we did a live stream of the ceremony so people could still join us on the day virtually.”
