SERVEand protect

YOUR SKIN WORKS HARD TO PROTECT YOU, SO YOU SHOULD WORK HARD TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN.

HERE ARE SEVEN WAYS TO DO IT.

WORK FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drinking water is one of the best things you can do for your skin. Keep a bottle of water within reach all day. Plus, add some greens to your diet. Green veggies contain chlorophyll, which helps to provide oxygen to your skin. You can also try adding chlorophyll supplement drops to your water or morning smoothie. Omega-3s contributes to your skin’s ability to hold moisture, so flax seeds, chia seeds and salmon are good choices.

MOISTURIZE TWICE A DAY

Moisturizers protect our skin from outside elements, while trapping in moisture. Once you find a moisturizer that works for your skin, use it twice a day, in the morning and at night.

GET THAT SPF

Use a sunscreen or SPF product on your face each day, even if you aren’t planning on being in the sun. Lots of moisturizers, foundations and powders come with SPF, so it’s really easy to add it to your morning skincare or makeup routine. Don’t forget a lip balm with SPF to keep your pout looking perfect. If you do plan on spending time in the sun, don’t forget the sunglasses and hat!

SCRUB THAT SKIN

Exfoliate your skin a couple times a week – face and body. We lose millions of skin cells each and every day. Don’t let that junk build up on your body. Choose a cleanser or scrub appropriate for your skin type, and gently scrub your skin (with a washcloth or cleansing brush) in a circular motion. If your skin turns red or you feel a burning sensation, stop. You don’t want to irritate your skin and cause damage. Find a new face product and experiment to find one that works best for you. Also, put your exfoliating on hold if you’re mid-breakout, or if you have any cuts or open wounds.

CLEAN YOUR BRUSHES

Think about it. When is the last time you cleaned your makeup brushes? Consider that you're constantly brushing dirt and oil back onto your face. Giving your brushes a gentle cleanse (use a little shampoo and water) once a month is a good habit to get into.

STOP TOUCHING

Don’t put your hands on your face! Seems simple, right? But some people are chronic face touchers and it is hard to stop. Touching your face only adds dirt and oil to your skin, so hands off!

CHECK IN WITH YOUR DOC

If you’re over 30, you may want to see a dermatologist for a quick scan of your skin. Your doc will check moles, spots and any other concerning areas. It’s important to get ahead of any major problems.
