Geranium’s exciting Stouffville neighbourhood grows again!
G
eranium Homes recently unveiled a new and final release of 38’ and 42’ lots at The Neighbourhoods of Cardinal Point, Stouff ville’s most successful master-planned ravine community, a vibrant neighbourhood where people of all ages and life-stages enjoy living. Just 41 lots are available including some oversized premium pie-shaped properties. The popular single-family detached home styles have seen great success to date and interested buyers would be well advised to act quickly. Two beautifully designed model homes, executed to perfection by Bryon Patton and Associates, showcase these open-concept “Designed for Life” homes. The timing of this new lot release coincides with the Whitchurch-Stouffville Mayor’s Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. Each year for the past four years, Geranium’s staff, suppliers, consultants and trades people have come together in support of the Food Bank, a community-based organization that is close to Geranium’s heart. “We are so very grateful to everyone who helps us and the companies who contribute along with Geranium give us a huge boost each year,” says Marion Wells, Executive Director. There are many reasons why this established community is so popular with professionals, first-time buyers, families with children and those who are downsizing – beginning with good value in an unbeatable location within walking distance to Main Street. Residents will discover an array of shops, dining, recreation, cultural venues, services and the Stouffville GO
station. Cardinal Point is minutes to golf courses, Highways 404 and 407, and Markham Stouffville Hospital. elebrating, competing and excelling in lifestyle features, the City of Markham continues to make provincial, national and international news – and September was a busy month. The City captured a prestigious provincial award, receiving bronze status as a Bicycle Friendly Community at the Annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa. Markham actually has a Cycling Master Plan, which provides for specified routes that encourage people of all ages to cycle for pleasure and as a form of transportation. Currently, the City is completing its extensive network of bike routes and off-road trails to the tune of 400 km! Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, Members of Markham Council and Founding Chair of Trees for Life – The Urban Tree Coalition, Mark Cullen, were on hand September 26th for a ceremonial tree planting to commemorate Canada’s second annual National Tree Day. They were joined by students and faculty members from Unionville High School as they planted a sugar maple tree on the grounds of Markham Civic Centre. Well-respected horticultural consultant Cullen pointed out the environmental, health and wellness benefits of increasing the urban tree canopy. The event is just one example of Markham Council’s commitment to this vital goal. In December 2006, Mayor Frank Scarpitti promised in his inaugural address that more trees would be planted between 2007 and 2010 than in the prior decade. Thanks to cooperation among other levels of government, non-governmental organizations, public agencies, the private sector, community groups and residents, the Town exceeded the 75,000 target to plant 130,000 trees during that period! In 2011, Markham launched its Trees for Tomorrow program to plant another 90,000 by the end of 2014 – and it looks like they are going to smash that goal as well. All this greenery looks good on you, Markham! The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation was
Joanna Kessling from Guinness World Records presented the official certificate acknowledging that the City of Markham set the new record for the longest Chinese Dancing Dragon – 5.56 km long! also the recipient of Markham’s generosity last month, when Markham firefighters transformed a decommissioned fire truck into a pink promotional vehicle to be used for fundraising events. The Pink Truck was unveiled at a special ceremony on September 28th. With breast cancer the most common cancer in Canadian women over the age of 20, this is an important gesture.
Markham firefighters transformed a fire truck into a pink promotional vehicle for Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation fundraising events
Moving on to even more international news, the area surrounding Markham Civic Centre was bustling with excitement on September 30th, when the City set a new Guinness world record for the longest Chinese Dancing Dragon – the first time this has ever been tried outside of China. Over 3,000 volunteers operated the handcrafted dragon, which was a gift from that country. Delegates from
Zhongshan were on hand to celebrate and witness the spectacle with Major Scarpitti and other dignitaries. What a spectacular way to round out September for this progressive City! To find out more about the City of Markham and why it is such a residential hotspot, visit www.markham.ca.

ecently, ARTEN Developments held the Grand Opening of The Manors of Roseview Grand - a superb collection of 14 executive townhomes and two exquisite semi-detached homes in the heart of Richmond Hill’s Village Core. Embracing the concepts of New Urbanism and sustainability, ARTEN Developments is doing what it does best – transforming existing residential properties in sought-after established neighbourhoods into vital new lifestyle opportunities. The company’s fifth home collection in the Village Core, The Manors of Roseview Grand is within walking distance to Mill Pond and the hardwood forest of Pioneer Park. The community is also close to an array of other amenities. “We realize the importance of location, location, location,” says Dean Artenosi, President and CEO of Arten Developments, which has become a Town of Richmond Hill core community specialist. “We hand pick sites that we know will enhance value for our purchasers. The Manors of Roseview Grand fits in well with the revitalization of this city’s downtown core. Our home collection has been seven years in the approvals process, and we have spared no expense in promoting sustainable urban development and built forms. We had an award-winning urban designer oversee the approvals stages to create designs that reflect the Village Core ambience.” Roseview Grand’s clay brick exteriors are highlighted by stone and stucco detailing, soldier coursing, arches, keystones, dormer windows and more. These fully loaded townhomes are between 17 and 25 feet in length, and some lots are as deep as 150 to 165 feet. Each comes with three floorplan options, and ARTEN Developments can tailor each design to accommodate purchaser needs and desires. There is even an elevator option available. “Rather than pay $500 or more per square foot in Toronto, buyers can own a condominium townhome or semi here for just under $285 per square foot,” Artenosi says. “They can own some land and not have to worry about maintenance fees.” The three-bedroom freehold townhomes range in size from 2,313 to 2,500 square feet, and the 2,273 square-foot semis feature four bedrooms. Among the luxurious appointments are 9-foot ceilings and crown moulding on the main floor, smooth ceilings throughout, oak veneer stairs with metal or oak pickets and solid oak nosing, imported ceramics, prefinished oak hardwood flooring, 50-ounce Berber carpet, 200-amp electrical service and a gas fireplace (all as per plan). Prices begin from the mid-$600,000s.
