STEVENS HAMBURG DOWN TO EARTH AND COSMOPOLITAN Being hanseatic basically means: down to earth and cosmopolitan, reliable and daring, understated in demeanour and deeply convinced of liberty of mind and action. Hamburg inspires. It is a pleasure to build bicycles in this city. We at STEVENS have lived and experienced this day by day, since 1991.

COOL HEADED CONSTRUCTION. Constructing a bike from the first concept to a rideable prototype demands a clearly structured work process. Many people bring in their experiences and doubts, their knowhow and their wishes. Countless ideas come together for every new bike project. They must be approved, discarded or improved step by step, and in the end they have to be tested rigorously. All of this happens in Hamburg – with top of the line software, in our own laboratories with our own machinery.

STRAIGHT FORWARD TALK. Everyone who has any responsibility at STEVENS lives and works in Hamburg. Here, we come together daily. Here, everything is on the table. Suggestions of professionals who push our bikes to the limit, on and off road. Opinions of dealers, who add their very own knowledge and their customers’ experience. Reports of the in-house quality management and those we read in the press about our products. And the meal from ”the galley” - often cooked by the boss himself.

BUILT ON SITE. It is not far to the assembly plant. From the developers' offices, the STEVENS factory is only a few stairs down. This means, our high-end bikes are made directly before our eyes. What applies to them is also valid for our entire range – despite a few logistics based exceptions: “Completely designed and assembled in Germany”. A commitment to quality that we live and breathe. A commitment that transcends into reality and is aptly described as "joy of riding."

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CURIOUSITY That is the basic condition. To us it means: striving for innovation. The new, if successful, becomes the old. And the desire becomes the even better solution, the different approach, the more refined tuning, in short; is the bike of tomorrow. That is how we research. Always chasing the next STEVENS with unbridled passion, for more than 20 years.

FREEDOM. Our Engineers and Product managers have everything they need at the most current level: Machines, testbeds and lab equipment hardware or software, choice of materials. Time; for extended test programs and rider feedback, and the liberty to scrap even very advanced projects or ideas, if they don‘t live up to the promise.

PERFECT PARTNERS. Nowadays, even the most resourceful tinkerer can‘t invent the wheel alone. Therefore, STEVENS engineers looking for innovation are charged with maintaining cooperation and the exchange of ideas with certified specialists. This includes THM, for example, only about an hour‘s drive north of Hamburg. They are one of the premier addresses worldwide in the development of carbon products of the highest quality. Together we developed the THM Nimbus fork, exclusively for STEVENS – the aspiration to create the world‘s finest fork regarding weight/stiffness and comfort was achieved 100% thanks to a special manufacturing process with a very low resin content and optimal positioning of material.

ULTIMATE RIDING EXPERIENCE. This is the aim for every new STEVENS bike. Countless magazine tests confirm how well we achieve this. Be it efficient yet still comfortable racing bikes, harmonically adjusted pedelecs and trekking bikes suitable for daily use or the Full-Suspension-MTBs that are painstakingly tuned to the specific off-road mission. In the end, control, comfort and performance count. Again and again.

INDEPENDENT EXPERTISE. To assure quality we don’t only rely on ourselves. In this aspect we are relentlessly objective. We want to be rigorously observed from the outside. For this we have a trusted partner, the “Zedler institute for Bicycle Technology and Safety”. Master Engineer Dirk Zedler is well known, appreciated, officially certified, court appointed bicycle expert with over 20 years experience as a bicycle evaluator. Thanks to his support we exactly know our products’ qualities. Frames, no matter if made from carbon fibre or Aluminium, forks, seat posts, wheels he had them all tested thoroughly in exactly that very combination we put them on our bikes. That’s why STEVENS bikes can be so light and so durable at the same time.

SELF AWARENESS. There are very few, if any, STEVENS employees, who are not avid cyclists. Those who are, spend thousands of miles in the saddle, some of them doing their groceries with a kids’ trailer, others winning cyclocross world championships in the Masters’ category. By this “large scale survey” any lack of quality or flaw can be detected. Our development engineers will make sure to listen very closely, because that is what you do when you have lunch with these people on a daily basis. But this you will experience yourself.

QUALITY CONTROL FULL CONTROL Thereâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s two properties STEVENS bikes are known for. They are very light. And they are very, very durable. Let us tell you a secret: We succeed in combining these properties, because everything we develop, we test, test and test again. Not only in the final phase, when our engineers are applying their finishing touches to their achievements, but even after during serial production. The stock product must keep what the prototype has promised â&#x20AC;&#x201C; time and time again. That is why we do not separate development from production. That is why our designers are personally involved in and responsible for the assurance of quality in serial production, so they test and test and test again.

BEST SUPPLIERS. We don‘t need to do everything ourselves. However original equipment components are subject to the same Stevens demands, only the best of the best are eligible as suppliers. Such as those that have even the fastest professional cyclists in the world queuing up – like the Bavarian wheel wizards of Lightweight, or AX Lightness, whose cockpit components have achieved legendary fame among lightweight fanatics!

CARBON-RECYCLING. There has been a recycling plant for carbon in Stade since 2011. Stade is practically around the corner from us. So it was only natural, that we came aboard as the first bike manufacturer to make use of this state of the art facility. Carbon components, like damaged frames or parts that didn‘t pass our quality controls have since been recycled and the valuable fibres can serve as a resource for new products.

REPLACEMENT WHEN DAMAGED. If your carbon frame is irreparably damaged by a fall or an accident, our CRASH REPLACEMENT PROGRAMME kicks in. Carbon racing- and mountain bike frames are replaced at a 50% discount if damaged, within a period of two years from original purchase. CARBON COMPETENCE UNSURPASSED Back as early as 1991, STEVENS banked on carbon for frame building. This totals more than 20 years of experience with this excellent material. Each carbon frame from our company is conceptualized and developed in Hamburg. Our competent partners in Asia manufacture by hand in strict compliance with our specifications. Only this way can the unique material properties of the high-strength carbon fibres be utilized fully. An example: designing a rear assembly for optimal power transmission with maximum lateral stiffness, yet with high vertical flexibility for improved sitting comfort takes a lot of know-how in fibre layering and force distribution. The same goes for dropouts or integrated internal headset bearing designs, each a masterpiece in carbon â&#x20AC;&#x201C; engineered in Hamburg.

CHAMPIONS TODAY’S AND TOMORROW’S WORLD CHAMPIONS Since its inception in 1991 STEVENS is closely connected to competitive cycling. This is because our founders, Werner and Wolfgang von Hacht, were competitive cyclists themselves. This resulted in an obligation to support others on their road to success in the best way possible and with personal commitment. We support numerous athletes and teams on national and international levels in many ways – from ambitious U19 teams to world champions - among them well known cyclocross, road and mountainbike teams as well as triathletes. We support “Bund Deutscher Radfahrer” (German Cycling Federation) and we equip schools and cycling clubs. In addition we sponsor sporting events like the 2014 Cross Country European Championship at St. Wendel/Germany. Top athletes and world champions like Marianne Vos, Hanka Kupfernagel, Niels Albert, Philipp Walsleben, Stefan Nimke, Miriam Welte, Daniel Unger, Lisa Norden, Amber Neben and many more are being or have been supported by STEVENS. Not only our athletes have benefited from this. They provide useful feedback about durability and handling properties that we can apply in the design and development of our bikes.

Our teams and athletes fight for victory in track world championships. They compete in world cup races, tear up the competition in the German National Series, and they occupy podiums during the cyclocross season in winter.

STEVENS RACING TEAM. Since our STEVENS racing team was founded in 2003 it has left a mark in the German cyclocross racing scene. More than 30 national gold medals and numerous podium placings in the elite, women’s and junior category have already been won by our team. Jens Schwedler’s success in the Masters’ class in 2009 and 2010 were the only international achievements. Today, Jens is one of our coaches and passes on important knowledge to our young talents. We take youth development very seriously. STEVENS Racing Team has always consisted of experienced athletes as well as aspiring talents.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. The youngest team – both in terms of average age of its riders and by date of foundation – the U19 National Series Team of the Hamburg Cycling Federation has been supported by us since last season. Also we have been collaborating with the Kaiserslautern Athletic High School for years. This school has brought forward distinguished cyclists like 2012 Olympic Track Champion Miriam Welte and current German Junior Time Trial Champion Lisa Klein.

Where others might give up to what they consider an unsolvable conflict, our engineers relentlessly keep inventing until you can buy their results clad in studded tires from the best bike shops. They keep on until our test riders come back from the trail to the prototype work shop with the happiest smile bolted to their face. Until our racers win the podium like it was for granted. Until we have fitted each bike in every price category and for every kind of use with the best possible specs without flaws. And last but not least, they won't stop until not only trade magazines are convinced after conducting their tests, but also YOU when you're heading for the trails or entering your next race.

ADVANCE BY TECHNOLOGY. To create a bike chassis that really works STEVENS' engineers insist on large diameter cartridge bearings and stiff rear stays. We do not just use off the shelf parts but we have suspension forks and shocks custom tailored for each model by Fox and other suppliers. What does this mean for you? A marathon fully (Jura) with all terrain capabilities, An all mountain machine (Sledge) that performs great up- or downhill and an enduro that inspires by absolute efficiency.

LARGE DIMENSIONS. In times when wheels become bigger and riders become more demanding, tapered steeres are ablolutely state of the art. Fork shaft diameters increas from 1.125" at the stem to a full 1.5" at the fork crown. So both fork and frame have a tapered steerer. Torsional stiffness of the frame's front end increases to also enhance steering precision. Also load distribution from steerer tube to downtube is improved to garantee sturdiness and longevity in the most extreme trail applications.

USEFUL. Wenn travel increases and wheel diameters grow, so do the challenges for our designers. Because a frame has to fit the rider in the first place. So STEVENS engineers produced a top tube for the Whaka with the lowest possible standover height.

ENDURO SLEDGE ES SLEDGE The rider of the brandnew Sledge will get what he deserves: Maximum riding fun in the most challenging terrain - be it in the Alps, on your local trails, be it full speed or through technical sections. This is what STEVENS' engineers designed a fine tuned linkage for, that work in unison with rear shocks and suspension forks from Fox or RockShox to create a superior 160 mm chassis. And since its downhill performance is complemented by great climbing efficiency, we call it "enduro".

STEVENS knows XC and marathon fullies need fast wheels. Jura conquers every race track with its 29" hoops. In the smallest frame sizes, Jura and Sella are equipped with 27.5" wheels, though. Because one can only be ahead, if the bike perfectly fits the rider. Speed and control are assured by suspension commponents supplied by premium supplier Fox with 120 mm of travel. Air shocks can be finely adjusted to every rider weight. Lockout means maximum efficiency when accelerating.

JURA 1.

In its first season Jura well established itself as a top contender in the marathon circuit. In 2015 we introduce a few small but important modifications. The hydroformed frame is increased in stiffness while the new cockpit with wider handlebar provides more control and fun on even the hardest trails.

As of today, not even Tour de France riders enjoy this level of safety. When it's about shifting, to 100 % we rely on our top supplier Shimano. ROAD TECHNOLOGY Whoever buys a new road bike loves hairpin turns, dry spells, plates of pasta, one's weaker self, slipstream, finish lines, adrenaline rushes, final kilometres, town line sprints, out-of-the-saddle-bursts, good legs ... Whoever buys a new road bike wants an excellent racing machine. One that is fast, lightweight, agile, svelte. One that is rugged and reliable for thousands of kilometres. PERFORMANCE BY PASSION. At first it was planned to become a medium range road bike with aero applications. But then our design engineers were overwhelmed by their ambition, and eventuallly the Arcalis turned into a thoroughbred aero racing machine. Including fully integrated direct mount brakes or even hydraulic disc brakes. Plus ultra short time trial rear stays and an aero seatpost with built-in shock absorber as the icing on the cake. Yet, when we remember the humble beginnings: It was "just" another typical STEVENS project.

NEW STANDARD. In combination with 11-speed groupsets Shimano introduces "semi compact" as a new drivetrain standard and turns away fron triple cranksets. 52/36 teeth at the front matched to up to 32 teeth at the rear provide a vast choice of finely stepped gears for sprinting and climbing. As an alternative "classic compact" (50/34 teeth) is still available.

ADVANTAGE BY SYSTEM. System wheels' greatest asset is the perfect interaction of their components - hub, spokes, rims, all perfectly matched to each other. That's why STEVENS specs the majority of its road bikes with system wheels from well renowned suppliers. From 2015 on, wider 25 mm tires will provide significantly more comfort, more speed and less flats.
