This is the official magazine of the youth exchange Erasmus+ mobility in Sarata Monteoru, Romania between 24 sept. and 4 oct. 2021. 40 participants from 7 countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Romania joined the project to strengthen the active and healthy lifestyle of young Europeans aged 18-24 by preventing and combating the phenomenon of "binge drinking"

We tried to capture all the highlights of our activities and we hope our readers will enjoy browsing thru the pages and find motivation to join Erasmus+ projects themselves.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project included 40 participants from 7 European countries: Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Greece, Latvia, Poland, Romania. The sending associations came from areas / countries where statistics show figures above the European average in terms of weekly and annual alcohol consumption and the frequency of occurrence of "binge drinking".

The project takes place in a context in which youngsters are increasingly confronted with the abusive and uncontrolled consumption of alcohol, the phenomenon of "binge drinking" (episodic consumption in large quantities to get intentional “intoxication ”) affects young people from the position of consumers, collateral victims and passive witnesses. The project owes its responsibility to the consumption of alcohol and offering alternative solutions through an active and healthy lifestyle.

The aim of the project was to strengthen the active and healthy lifestyle of youngsters by preventing and combating the phenomenon of "binge drinking" The methodology was be based on nonformal education and consisted in games, presentations, role plays and simulations, workshops, video and media creation, visits, intercultural evenings.

There were 7 thematic workshops that debated and set notions about alcohol consumption, causes, effects and solutions, each with a well-defined purpose and with specific methods: presentations, debates, tests, "world cafe", mediavideo creation and theater. They were complemented by intercultural evenings, visits to the region, outdoor activities We consider this project as a successful one due to involvement of our participants and our partners: DiPS – Bulgaria, SVON – Croatia, EYC Breclav – Czechia, Youthnet Hellas – Greece, Uz Jauno Krastu – Latvia and Eco Power – Poland. Big thanks go to our host “Casa cu Tei” in Sarata Monteoru. Tolea Postovei –Project coordinator

WORKSHOP 1 Posters about binge drinking in every contry

During the workshop, the participants, working together in teams, got acquainted with the alcohol consumption habits and statistics of different countries.

Teams needed to create posters for binge drinking based on each country's statistics.

6 teams participated in the workshop, which created posters according to their interpretation.

An exhibition was made of the posters, where the project participants could get acquainted with the created posters.

WORKSHOP 2 World Cafe about binge drinking Teams talking about binge drinking causes, effects, solutions, responibles and how it changes and affects life.

Effects of binge drinking SIMILAR THINGS Health problems (liver damage, brain damage, mental problems) Relationship problems with friends, family and difficulty in meeting new people Addiction to drinking and desire to be drunk Driving while intoxicated (injuries, death) Living standarts (loss of home and job) Hangover and feeling moody

First team: DNS changes and the impact of these changes on future family formation. Rehabilitation and its impact of life.

Second team: Violence- how you can influence to harm another and others can affect you. Trauma that may be caused by yourself or company. Binge drinking can be caused by yourself or company. Strict rules of the family because what you can do and not, after you "get free" you start doing everything what wasn't alowed before.

Third team: Money and when you drink you waisted that money.

Fourth team: Shame what you did and what happened. Modiness - sudden changes in emotions

Responsible for prevention and combating binge drinking. We were talking about people and institutions which are responsible for us, for our lives, especially when we are young (and sometimes stupid) teenegers. We were talking about parents and how important it is to talk about growing up, alcohol and about our emotions. For example in Czech Republic a lot of people tried alcohol when they were 11 - 14 years old. And this phase is hard for everyone. And especially in this age "kids" need to know, that is here someone for them. Parents, teachers or friends. But certainly we have to choos our company very carefully. -We were talking, that in schools are sometimes lectures about drugs and sometimes about sex, but about alcohol is not rly often. - We were talking how easy is buy an alcohol, when are you a child. - Also we were talking about personal responsibility, about mental health and about emotional intelligence. - Of course, we were talking about media. About commercials, about movies where drinking looks so cool and we were talking about power of internet.

We tried to find causes and factors that influence binge drinking and agreed that lack of education is one of the main reasons, as well as bad influence of family.

Most of people feel as if they need to escape reality by being in a drunk state, either because of mental or phisical problems.

In essence, mental illness could influence binge drinking. We also came to a conclusion that people drink to be more attractive or to be accepted by society.

We triend to find solutions for prevention and to combat Binge drinking. We talked about institutions, and social media education that can help with prevention.

We also mentioned family and friends, radio, internet portals and more.

We agreed that if young people were more educated on this topic, they would probably be more responsible when drinking

WORKSHOP 3 Meeting with police and sports vs alcohol movies debate During the discussions, issues were addressed regarding the fact that alcohol diminishes selfcontrol and the possibility of analyzing information for the proper assessment of dangers, thus leading to the commission of antisocial acts (theft, destruction, robbery, road accidents, etc.).

In order to understand the changes that alcohol brings to the body, VR glasses were used that simulated the effects of alcohol consumption on psychomotor abilities.

Also, the present students were warned that alcohol is included in the category of depressive drugs and can only be a first step in the use of psychotropic substances.

WORKSHOP 4 Theater and role plays

The theater was about consequences of irresponsible drinking and dangerous driving behavior while being drunk. Solutions which we presented were about being wise and responsible while consuming alcohol.

WORKSHOP 5 Alcohol risks, consumers, typology and correction solutions

In this workshop we had to take a quiz about alcohol consumption. We had to answer questions about how much alcohol we consume, how regularly, what kinds of drinks and similar questions. After we solved the quiz we got quiz results that showed us how addicted we are to alcohol. CAGE TEST Am i binge drinker? Am i an alcoholic? Think about: Have you ever tried to Cut back on your drinking? Have you ever felt Annoyed when others criticized your drinking? Have you ever felt Guilt about your drinking? Have you ever needed a drink first thing in the morning to feel well? This is known as an “Eyeopener”? https://bit.ly/HANGOVER-DISSEMINATON-LOCALPRESS

Quiz 1 - Binge Drinking Self - Assessment Quiz 2 - Could You Have an Alcohol Abuse Problem?

WORKSHOP 6 VIDEO CREATION day 6- day 8 In this workshop, we had a task to make short video clips about binge drinking. There were 5 groups and each of them had a video editor and a screenwriter, but of course we all had our tasks. This workshop lasted for 2 days. On the first day we were planning the scenarios and perhaps filming some scenes, if we had the time to do so.

Second day was the actual first full day without any other activities, except filming the videos, so we had a lot of time to do great amount of work for the video.

As the day came to an end, so did our video creation. Everything had to be over by the end of the day, because in the evening we had to present our videos and show them to others.

WORKSHOP 7 MEDIA - PRINT CREATION

At this modern art exhibition you can see ecologically friendly sculpture, that represents a person who got drunk in the forest and passed out. The brick represents how their head feels "heavy" during the hangover, as there are aslo bricks representing bottles all around them.

Our art is about how a person encounters different human attitudes while in his circle of alcohol dependence. Giving help, condemning, taking a picture and giving alcohol to the addict.

In our team we were representing Joseph. Why? Because Joseph is the prototype of a person who's binge drinking. We did this by placing him into a resting position with a bottle of alcohol in his hand and with an injured arm. He doesn't know where the injury came from because he can't remember what he did the night before. Don't be like Joseph. The main word that represents our piece of art is “balance”. Here you can find a face which consists of two parts. The one which is made out of green leaves represents the harmony and the beauty of life though having limits and wisdom. In this case it’s about drinking.

The other side which is made out of dried leaves it’s about exaggerating, having no limits, excess. As the leaves, people are degrading the same when they don’t know when and where to stop.

A story of Lucy team, Joseph was working on vodka factory but suddenly he got fired. Due to that sad fact he started drinking the vodka he used to made. On picture he is laying down on tree and taking a nap. Sticks shows this wooly feeling.

Our art represents bottles of alcoholic drinks and young people who cannot associate without alcohol. Nowadays, most young people drink occasionally when hanging out with their frinds, but those occasional situations can become habitual, which may lead to addiction.

Jose/Jozo is a boy scout with an above average sense of direction, which is why he decided to become a scout in the first place... this particular afternoon Jose/Jozo is relaxing with his team in a cabine in the woods after having successfully finished their hiking paths marking... visibly drunk he leaves the cabin with a bottle of gin in his hand. It is getting dark when Jose realizes that he doesn't know where he is... he is trying to use all his witts and skills to determine how to get back to the cabin. ...

Blurred and disoriented he trips over a tree branch and decides to stay put and wait for his friends to start looking for him. After a while he feels really tired, but still holding his gin bottle and taking a sip to keep himself warm, he faints. Next morning he is found hyporthermic and unmoving ,almost glued to the ground by a group of hikers who decide to call the ambulance after several failed attempts to revive him. His friends fallen asleep after a bingedrinking night haven't noticed that Jose/Jozo is not with them
