GCISD offers specialized programs such as Two-Way Dual Language schools to produce bilingual, biliterate, bicultural students, ASPIRE Academy (serves highly gifted students), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and iUniversity Prep (the first public, fully online, tuition-free virtual school in Tarrant County) offering students more scheduling flexibility while receiving highly rigorous, college-focused instruction. In 2014, GCISD officially opened the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Collegiate Academy at Tarrant County College Northeast. Students may apply to enter as freshmen, attend classes on the TCC Northeast campus and will graduate with a GCISD high school diploma and possibly an associate degree. Grapevine High School placed third in the 5A Lone Star cup Standings in 2016, ranking highly at the state level in fine arts, athletics, and academics. Superb private schools, including the Fort Worth Christian School, Nolan Catholic High School, Country Day School of Arlington, and The Highlands School are all within 20 minutes of The Overlook at Colleyville.
