KONTEXT
Trenčín sa nachádza na severo - západnej časti Slovenska, je takzvaným centrom Považia a je to jedno z najvýznamnejších miest na Slovensku. Mestom preteká rieka Váh, no dominantou mesta je Trenčiansky hrad. V minulosti bolo mesto významným centrom kultúry, obchodu a športu, nazývalo sa mesto módy. Kedysi rozkvitajúci priemysel zanechal v meste jazvy - brownfieldy nevyužívajúce svoj potenciál alebo prázdne plochy.
Podklady použité v tejto práci pozostávajú z výkresovej dokumentácie získanej od útvaru hlavného architekta mesta Trenčín, od fotografií vyhotovených v národnom archíve SR - pobočke Trenčín, obrázkov a informácií získaných na internete a v knihách. Ostatné podklady ako fotodokumentácia územia a dodatočné výkresy som vyhotovil sám prípadne s pomocou spolužiakov z ateliéru Between.
Cieľom projektu je poukázať na možnosti využitia bluefieldu rieky Váh v intraviláne mesta Trenčín. Ukázať, ako je možné transformovať nevyužité priestory a plochy na nábreží v rôznych pozíciách a ako znova orientovať mesto ku rieke. Projekt sa orientuje na jednu časť mesta, avšak ponúka aj ucelený obraz možného vývoja Trenčína ako komplexný návrh zmeny mesta.
Projekt sa rozpína na priestore viacerých mestských častí - na pravom brehu rieky sú to Zámostie a Nové Zlatovce, na ľavom prehu je to Dolné mesto. Každá z týchto lokalít je originálna svojou hustotou a typom zástavby. Od samostatných rodinných domov, cez občianske stavby po industiálne haly. Lokalita vyniká aj prírodnými lokáciami ako je chránená inundačná zóna nábrežia.
Trenčín is located in the northwestern part of Slovakia, is the so-called center of Považie and is one of the most important cities in Slovakia. The river Váh flows through the town, but the dominant feature of the town is Trenčín Castle. In the past, the city was an important center of culture, trade and sports, it was called the city of fashion. The once thriving industry left scars in the city - brownfields that do not use their potential or empty areas.
The materials used in this work consist of drawing documentation obtained from the department of the chief architect of the city of Trenčín, from photographs taken in the national archive of the Slovak Republic - Trenčín, pictures and information obtained on the Internet and in books. Other documents such as photo documentation of the area and additional drawings were made by myself or with the help of classmates from the studio Between.
The aim of the project is to point out the possibilities of using the bluefield of the river Váh in the inner city of Trenčín. To show how it is possible to transform unused spaces and areas on the waterfront in different positions and how to reorient the city to the river. The project focuses on one part of the city, but also offers a comprehensive picture of the possible development of Trenčín as a complex proposal to change of the city.
The project extends over several parts of the city - on the right bank of the river are Zámostie and Nové Zlatovce, on the left is the Dolné mesto. Each of these sites is original in its density and in type of development. From detached houses, through civic buildings to individual industrial halls. The location also excels in natural locations such as the protected inundation zone of the waterfront.

RIEKA Vo svetovej literatúre všeobecné označenie prirodzeného vodného toku. Na Slovensku sa pod riekou chápe vodný tok s rozlohou povodia väčšou ako 150 km2. Rozlišujeme aj veľké rieky, resp. veľtoky (veľrieky), ktorých rozloha povodia je väčšia ako 100 000 km2.
BREHOVÁ ČIARA Priesečnica brehu a maximálnej hladiny vody, ktorá ešte stačí pretekať korytom bez toho, aby sa vylievala na priľahlé územie. Pri ohrádzovaní vodného toku je súčasťou koryta aj územie medzi pôvodným korytom toku a hrádzami (medzihrádzie).
River In the world literature a general label of a natural watercourse. In Slovakia, a river is a watercourse with area of more than 150 km2. We also distinguish large rivers, resp. streams with area of more than 100,000 km2.
Bank line The intersection of the shore and the maximum water level, which is still enough to flow through the riverbed without flowing into the adjacent area. When fencing a watercourse, the area between the original riverbed and the dikes (intermediate dams) is also a part of the riverbed.
RIEČNA KRAJINA Riečna krajina je koridorová entita chápaná ako priestor (koridor) nachádzajúci sa na dne doliny, resp. inej zníženiny s vodným tokom, ktorý je „produktom“ fluviálnych procesov, a ktorého základnú substrátovo-morfologickú bázu predstavujú fluviálne sedimenty morfologicky definované ako aluviálna rovina, resp. niva, koryto vodného toku s dnom a brehmi, na ktorú je viazaná faciálno-pôdna štruktúra biotopov s vegetačnými a živočíšnymi spoločenstvami a štruktúra krajinnej pokrývky. Súčasne sa v nej formujú špecifické sociálne a ekonomické aktivity a procesy.
HRÁDZA Zemná stavba spravidla lichobežníkového tvaru s výrazne prevládajúcim dĺžkovým rozmerom pozdĺž vodného toku alebo menej často naprieč vodným tokom slúžiaca na vzdutie vody (priehrada), zadržovanie povodní, ochranu okolitých pozemkov pred záplavami, na spevnenie, úpravu a ochranu brehov či splavnenie.
River landscape The river landscape is a corridor entity understood as a space (corridor) located at the bottom of the valley, resp. another depression with an aqueous flow, which is a product of fluvial processes, and whose basic substrate-morphological base is represented by fluvial sediments morphologically defined as the alluvial plane, respectively. floodplain, riverbed with bottom and banks, to which the facial-soil structure of habitats with vegetation and animal communities and the structure of land cover are connected. At the same time, specific social and economic activities and processes are formed in it.
Embankment An earth structure, usually trapezoidal in shape with a significantly predominant longitudinal dimension along a watercourse or less frequently across a watercourse used to inflate water (dam), retain floods, protect surrounding land from flooding, strengthen, modify and protect banks or navigability. BREH KORYTA VODNÉHO TOKU Bočné (postranné) ohraničenie koryta vodného toku od jeho dna po brehovú čiaru, za ktorou sa nachádza niva. Podľa polohy vzhľadom na os koryta toku, pri pohľade v smere po prúde sa rozlišuje pravý a ľavý breh toku. River bank Lateral boundary of the watercourse bed from its bottom to the bank line behind which the floodplain is located. Depending on the position with respect to the axis of the flow channel, when viewed in the direction downstream, a distinction is made between the right and left bank of the flow. URBÁNNA AKUPUNKTÚRA Ide o sociálno-environmentálnu teóriu, ktorá kombinuje súčasný mestský dizajn s tradičnou čínskou akupunktúrou pomocou malých zásahov na transformáciu širšieho mestského kontextu. Urban acupuncture Is a socio-environmental theory that combines contemporary urban design with traditional Chinese acupuncture, using small-scale interventions to transform the larger urban context.

INUNDAČNÉ ÚZEMIE Územie priľahlé k vodnému toku, zaplavované pri prietokoch presahujúcich kapacitu koryta vodného toku. BIOKORIDOR Biokoridor je lineárny úsek krajiny, ktorý umožňuje migráciu organizmov medzi jednotlivými biocentrami. S nimi dohromady tvorí územný systém ekologickej stability. Biocorridor A biocorridor is a linear section of land that allows the migration of organisms between individual biocentres. Together with them, they form a territorial system of ecological stability. BIOCENTRUM Biocentrum je biotop alebo súbor biotopov v krajine, ktorý svojím stavom a veľkosťou umožňuje trvalú existenciu prirodzeného či pozmeneného, avšak prírode blízkeho ekosystému. ESEJ : Čo je pre mňa urbánna akupunktúra ? Akupunktúra je v mojom ponímaní vnímaní ako stratégia alebo taktika, ktorá je o procesoch, vďaka ktorým vzniká optimálny výsledok z hľadiska riešení problémov a využívania kvalít priestoru mesta, krajiny, rieky. Aký je však tento optimálny výsledok, stav rovnováhy a kvalitného výsledku aktuálnej situácie ?
Pri získavaní odpovedí na otázku stratégie a taktiky sa stretám s viacerými dvojicami slov, dualitami, protipólmi. Má byť prístup k urbanistickej akupunktúre, alebo akupunktúre nábrežia odvážny a rázny, alebo citlivý k prostrediu ? Majú byť zmeny v zasiahnutom prostredí titerné, doslova akupunktúrne body, alebo zmeny masívne a vo veľkej mierke spojujúce viacero menších vstupov ? Aké faktory sú pri posudzovaní samotných vstupov do konkrétnej lokality dôležitejšie: ekonomické, ekologické, estetické, sociálne, alebo sú si všetky rovnocenné ?
Nemyslím si, že odpoveď na vyššie uvedené otázky a problémy je jednoduchá formulka použiteľná na všetko. Konkrétne problémy lokality a konkrétne riešenia by mali vychádzať z genius loci priestoru mesta, štvrte, bloku, nábrežia. Samotná téma nábrežia je veľmi špecifická, zaujímavá, rôznorodá a tak rozsiahla, že presahuje samotný pozemok riešenej lokality. Nie je možné zastaviť sa na hranici pozemku a povedať dosť. Výsledok takéhoto tvorivého počinu by bol ne-strategický, ne-logický, ne-dokončený, ne-vyriešený. Možno by vytvoril viac problémov, ako ich riešil. V téme akupunktúry nábrežia je podľa mňa nie možné, ale nutné prekročiť hranice a smerovať do susedných blokov, premýšľať nad tým, ako sa človek dostane z vybranej lokality do centra mesta, na druhú stranu brehu. Je konkrétna akupunktúrna lokalita destináciou, cestou, alebo oboje ? Všetky myšlienky týkajúce sa nábreží a akupunktúrneho vstupu do mesta by mali byť odvodené od samotnej lokality, mali by byť tzv. site - specific, ale zároveň by mali reagovať na problémy, potreby a možné príležitosti nábrežia v kontakte s mestom vo viacerých susedných lokalitách. V prípade nábrežných lokalít a nábrežnej akupunktúry je význam lokality, jej vlastností a emócie z nej o to dôležitejší, pretože rieka samotná je veľmi významný faktor ako v histórií stavby miest tak aj v súčasnosti ako jeden z najväčších atraktorov a možných najkvalitnejších pobytových priestorov v rámci štruktúry mesta a krajiny. Preto si myslím že akupunktúrne riešenia problémov a hľadania potenciálov na nábreží by mali popri kladení dôrazu na emóciu miesta presiahnuť určenú jednu stranu nábrežia a blízke okolie. Myšlienky a taktické vstupy do lokalít riešiť koncepčne na jednej strane hlboko do mestskej ( sídelnej ) štruktúry, široko po oboch stranách nábrežia po smere a v protismere toku rieky a zároveň by mali premietať aj to, čo sa deje na opačnom nábreží.
Každé nábrežie je špecifické a má svoje vlastné parametre, či ide o veľkosť inundačného územia, o dĺžku samotného nábrežia, prehrádzky alebo prístup ľudí na nábrežie vo vzťahu k mestu. Nábrežie Váhu v Trenčíne poskytuje veľké množstvo rôznych atmosfér a potenciálov, ale nájdeme na ňom aj množstvo kritických situácií a problémov. Správne zvolená stratégia prístupu k ich riešeniu preto bude rozhodujúca.

In my understanding, acupuncture is perceived as a strategy or tactic, which is about the processes which ends in the optimal result in terms of solving problems and using the qualities of the space of the city, landscape, river. But what is this optimal result, state of balance and quality outcome of the current situation?
When getting answers to the question of strategy and tactics, I will encounter several pairs of words, dualities, opposites. Should the approach to urban acupuncture or waterfront acupuncture be bold and forceful, or sensitive to the environment? Should the changes in the affected environment be tiny, literally acupuncture points, or should the changes be massive and on a large scale connecting several smaller inputs? What factors are more important when assessing the entrances to a particular site: economic, ecological, aesthetic, social, or are they all equal?
I don’t think the answer to the above questions and problems is a simple formula applicable to everything. Specific problems of the site and specific solutions should be based on the genius loci of the area of the city, district, block, waterfront. The very theme of the waterfront is very specific, interesting, diverse and so extensive that it extends beyond the land itself. It is not possible to stop at the boundary of the plot and say enough. The result of such a creative act would be un-strategic, un-logical, un-completed, un-solved. Maybe he would create more problems than he solved. In the topic of waterfront acupuncture, in my opinion it is not possible, but it is necessary to cross the border and head to the neighboring blocks, to think about how one gets from the selected location to the city center, to the other side of the shore. Is a particular acupuncture site a destination, a road trip, or both? All ideas concerning the waterfront and acupuncture entry into the city should be derived from the site itself, they should be so-called site - specific, but at the same time they should respond to the problems, needs and possible opportunities of the waterfront in contact with the city in several neighboring locations. In the case of waterfront sites and waterfront acupuncture, the importance of the site, its properties and emotions from it is all the more important, because the river itself is a very important factor both in the history of urban construction and today as one of the biggest attractors and possible best living spaces within the structure, cities and countries. Therefore, I think that acupuncture solutions to problems and the search for potentials on the waterfront should, in addition to emphasizing the emotion of the place, extend beyond one side of the waterfront and the surrounding area. Ideas and tactical entrances to localities should be addressed conceptually on the one hand deep into the urban (settlement) structure, wide on both sides of the embankment in the direction and opposite the flow of the river and at the same time should reflect what is happening on the opposite embankment. Each waterfront is specific and has its own parameters, whether it is the size of the floodplain, the length of the waterfront itself, the dam or the access of people to the waterfront in relation to the city. The Váh embankment in Trenčín provides a large number of different atmospheres and potentials, but we can also find a number of critical situations and problems on it. Therefore, a well-chosen approach to their solution will be crucial.

CENTRUM BEZ VÁHU Dnes prakticky neexistuje kvalitné spojenie centra mesta s nábrežím a jeho napojením na potencionálnu transformáciu bývalého liehovaru Old herold. NOVÉ MESTO Súčasný industriálny komplex bráni rozvoju mesta do krajiny smerom na juh. Jeho premiestnením vznikne priestor na dopovedanie mestskej štruktúry. New town The current industrial complex hinders the development of the city into the country to the south. Its relocation will create space for completing the city structure.
VÝHODNÁ TRANSFORMÁCIA Dnešná industriálna zóna už nespĺňa svôj pôvodný účel a tvorí veľkú jazvu na brehu rieky. Je to zóna, ktorá ponúka oveľa viac. Strategické umiesňovanie miest vhodných pre akupunktúrne vstupy nábrežia podmieňuje takzvaný efekt zvlnenia, kedy jednotlivé zmeny postupne zasahujú väčšie územie a menia svoje okolie aj v širšom merítku ako len vo svojom území.
V užšom kontexte je efekt zvlnenia prenesený do zóny, ku ktorej pristupujem aktívne a zapájam rôzne súvislosti do jedného celku. Snažím sa zachytiť genius loci danej zóny, využívať jej danosti a zároveň využiť jej hranice a prekročiť ich v zmysle prístupu XL.
Ripple effect
Active approach to the zone
The strategic location of places suitable for acupuncture inputs of the waterfront conditions the so-called ripple effect, when individual changes gradually affect a larger area and change their surroundings on a wider scale than just in their own territory.
In a narrower context, the ripple effect is transferred to the zone, which I actively approach and connect different contexts into one whole. I try to capture the genius loci of a given zone, use its conditions and at the same time use its boundaries and cross them in terms of the XL approach.

18° 03’ východnej zemepisnej dĺžky, 48° 55’ severnej zemepisnej šírky, nadmorská výška 204 - 210 m.n.m, rozloha mesta 8 199,70 h. Trenčín sa nachádza na severo - západnej strane Slovenska, je krajským mestom a centrom obchodu. Mesto obklopujú pohoria Biele Karpaty, Strážovské vrchy a Považský Inovec.
Trenčín má cca 56 000 obyvateľov, hustota obyvateľstva predstavuje 720 ľudí na km2. V posledných rokoch má počet obyvateľov tendenciu klesať, čo s aodráža v ponuke pracovných miest a bývania.
Najväčšiou dominantou mesta je Trenčiansky hrad, ktorý tvorí historický landmark a hlavné turistické miesto v meste. Druhou dominantou mesta je rieka Váh, ktorá preteká prakticky stredom územia mesta. Ostatné dominanty tvorí lesopark Brezina a kultúrne a historické objekty ako sú Synagóga, Piaristický kostol sv. Františka Xaverského, mestská veža alebo morový stĺp.

Trenčín is located on the northwestern side of Slovakia, is a regional city and a center of trade. The town is surrounded by the White Carpathians, Strážovské vrchy and Považský Inovec mountains.

Demography Trenčín has about 56,000 inhabitants, the population density is 720 people per km2. In recent years, the population has tended to decline, reflecting the supply of jobs and housing.
City landmarks The biggest landmark of the city is the Trenčín Castle, which forms a historical landmark and the main tourist place in the city. The second dominant feature of the town is the river Váh, which flows practically in the middle of the town. Other dominants are the Brezina Forest Park and cultural and historical objects such as the Synagogue, the Piarist Church of St. Francis Xavier, city tower or plague column.

KONCEPT
PRÍNOS
Idea vypracovať projekt urbánnej akupunktúry na nábreží vznikla na základe premýšľania nad rôznymi prístupmi transformácie a vstupov do štruktúr miest. Každé mesto má svoje problémy, potenciály a možnosti a tie sa znásobujú tým, ak sa spájajú aj s vodným tokom pretínajúcim mesto. Ako príklad bolo vybrané mesto Trenčín, ktorým preteká rieka Váh a prakticky ho rozdeľuje na polovicu. Toto mesto má mnoho kvalitných verejných priestorov, ale aj tých problematických v spojitosti s nábrežím. Forma urbánnej akupunktúry ako taktického vstupu do jednotlivých lokalít sa javí ako vhodný nástroj ozdravenia a premeny zón na nábreží, ktoré majú potenciál ovplyvniť okrem vlastného zásahu aj širšie dotknuté územie. V histórií sa mestá stavali na rehoch riek a tieto nábrežia boli aktívne využívané z hľadiska práce, ale aj voľného času. Dnes sa však vo veľa prípadoch mestá od riek vzďaľujú a nepracujú snimi, tvária sa že nie sú ich súčasťou. Táto práca ponúka náhľad, ako by sa dalo mesto a rieka znovu spojiť v jeden živý organizmus, ktorý naplno ťaží zo svojich potenciálov.
Základný koncept projektu sa skladá z troch bodov, ktoré predstavujú proces transformácie mesta v zmysle urbánnej akupunktúry. Samotný koncept využíva deväť princípov alebo nástrojov, ako projekt pracuje s danosťami lokality, takzvaným genius loci a zároveň tieto nástroje pracujú s možnosťami premeny a prehĺbenia vo väčšej mierke mesta. Koncept sa sústredí na udržateľné princípy architektúry a urbanizmu, pracuje s existujúcimi podmienkami miesta a snaží sa dotvárať mestský priestor v rôznych formách a mierkach. Jadro konceptu sa sústredí na rieku Váh v intraviláne mesta Trenčín. Koncept s riekou pracuje ako s hlavným aktérom, ktorému podmieňuje všetky jeho elementy a so svojimi nástrojmi sa snaží prítomnosť rieky vhodne premietnuť do mesta vo forme rozmanitých verejených priestorov, pestrou zeleňou strategicky navádzajúcou a definujúcou aleje, voľné priestory alebo stretávacie zóny. Aktívna práca s vegetáciou a akcentom rieky, reinterpretácia verejných priestorov a architektúry by mali spĺňať základné požiadavky konceptu a tak vytvoriť manuál tejto práce.
Trenčín je mesto, ktoré ponúka veľa možností a ktoré vie o svojich prednostiach a vie ich aj využívať. Táto práca ponúka riešenie lokalít, ktoré by si zaslúžili pozdvihnuť na vyššiu úroveň. Ponúka pohľad, spôsob uvažovania nad takzvanými jazvami mesta súvisiacimi s nábrežím, na riešenie problémov ale aj na poukázanie na spiaci potenciál nábrežia rieky v meste. Projekt sa snaží využíť prázdne a zabudnuté miesta na nábreží Váhu, transformovať plochy a hrany nábrežia, ktoré by mestu dodali nový charakter mesta na rieke. Revitalizáciou nevhodne využitých a podceňovaných oblastí vzniknú nové mestské štvrte, zóny plné života, práce, kult=ury a oddychu. Spôsob využitia taktického prístupu urbánnej akupunktúry dokáže v takto zložitom zadaní docieliť premeny území v rozličných mierkach, od rých najväčšíc zahrňujúce urbanizmus zóny, cez riešenie transformácie zanedbaných objektov až po materialitu povrchov verejného priestoru a zapájanie obyvateľov a komunít v zasiahnutých oblastaich. Dokáže vytvoriť efekt zvlnenia, transformácie a rozvíjať nábrežie vo vzťahu k mestu a jeho hlbším vrstvám.
Idea
Concept
The idea to develop a project of urban acupuncture on the waterfront arose from thinking about different approaches to transformation and inputs to urban structures. Each city has its problems, potentials and opportunities, and these are multiplied by the fact that they also connect with the river crossing the city. The city of Trenčín was chosen as an example, through which the river Váh flows and practically divides it in half. This city has many quality public spaces, but also the problematic ones in connection with the waterfront. The form of urban acupuncture as a tactical entry into individual localities seems to be a suitable tool for the healing and transformation of zones on the waterfront, which have the potential to affect not only the intervention but also the wider affected area. Historically, cities have been built on river banks and these embankments have been actively used in terms of work as well as leisure. Today, however, in many cases, cities move away from the rivers and do not work with them, pretending not to be part of them. This work offers an insight into how the city and the river could be reunited into one living organism that is fully using its potential.
The basic concept of the project consists of three points, which represent the process of transformation of the city in terms of urban acupuncture. The concept itself uses nine principles or tools, how the project works with the conditions of the locality, the so-called genius loci, and at the same time these tools work with the possibilities of transformation and deepening on a larger scale of the city. The concept focuses on sustainable principles of architecture and urbanism, works with the existing conditions of the place and tries to complete the urban space in various forms and scales. The core of the concept will focus on the Váh River in the city of Trenčín. The concept works with the river as the main actor to whom it conditions all its elements and with its tools it tries to project the presence of the river into the city in the form of diverse public spaces, colorful greenery strategically guiding and defining alleys, open spaces or meeting zones. Active work with vegetation and accent of the river, reinterpretation of public spaces and architecture should meet the basic requirements of the concept and thus create a manual of this work.
Benefit Trenčín is a city that offers many possibilities and that knows its advantages and can use them. This work offers a solution of sites that deserve to be raised to a higher level. It offers a view, a way of thinking about the so-called scars of the city related to the waterfront, to solve problems but also to point out the sleeping potential of the river embankment in the city. The project seeks to use the empty and forgotten places on the Váh embankment, to transform the areas and edges of the embankment, which would give the city a new character of the city on the river. The revitalization of inappropriately used and underestimated areas will create new neighborhoods, zones full of life, work, culture and relaxation. In such a complex task, the way of using the tactical approach of urban acupuncture can achieve territorial transformations in various scales, from the largest ones including urbanism of the zone, through solving the transformation of neglected objects to the materiality of public spaces and involving residents and communities in affected areas. It can create the ripple effect, transformation and develop the waterfront in relation to the city and its deeper layers.

Katalyzátorom zóny je jedna silná os,na ktorej sú dôležité objekty s verejnými priestormi, zapája viaceré mestské časti a dostáva podporu od dvoch sekundárnych osí vedúcich k nábrežiu. Objekty a zastavané plochy ktoré spĺňali účel boli adaptované a transformované.
Vhodné vyplnenie priestorov mezdi objektami a na nábreží pozostáva z programovo diverzifikovaných verejných priestorov a aktívnej zelene, ktoré vo veľkej miere tvoria kvalitu zóny.
Use of existing conditions The catalyst of the zone is one strong axis, on which there are important objects with public spaces, it connects several city districts and receives support from two secondary axes leading to the waterfront. Objects and built-up areas that served the purpose were adapted and transformed.

They were used as multi-storey garages and as a warehouse. It prevents access to water and forms a dead point zone.
The connection creates a new object, which also acquires an area by completing the lower stage and obtaining the solitaire.

VÝSLEDOK Objekty transformáciou a dostavaním získali svoje pevné miesto v novovznikajúej mestskej štruktúre, vznikol jeden solitérny komplex ktorý tvorí prístup k vode a zároveň ju prekračuje. Result Through transformation and completion, the buildings gained their firm place in the newly emerging urban structure, a single solitary complex was created which forms access to water and at the same time exceeds it.

Bude Trenčín moderné a funkčné mesto? Mesto podľa ideálnych predstáv, s dobrou infraštruktúrou, kvalitnou pešou dostupnosťou ku všetkému. Mnoho vlastností má už dnes, no v textúre esta badať aj mnoho problémov.
Trenčín je obklopený prírodou. Lesopark Brezina alebo príroda na povodí Váhu sú mestské priestory vhodné kultivácie a rozvoja.
Trenčín je jedným z kandidátov na EHMK 2026. Iniciatívu vedie mladá partia zapálených ľudí, akých je v meste veľa. Umelcov, architektov, grafikov, zanietených ľudí. Kedysi sa Trenčín nazýval mesto módy, je šanca že by ho takto ľudia nazývali aj v budúcnosti ?

Will Trenčín be a modern and functional city? The city according to ideal ideas, with good infrastructure, quality walking distance to everything. It already has many properties today, but there are many problems in the texture.
Trenčín is surrounded by nature. Brezina Forest Park or nature in the Váh river basin are urban spaces suitable for cultivation and development.
Trenčín is one of the candidates for ECOC 2026. The initiative is led by a young group of passionate people, of which there are many in the city. Artists, architects, graphic artists, passionate people. Once Trenčín was called the city of fashion, is there a chance that people would call it that way in the future?

ODPORÚČANIE PRE MESTO
Každé mesto má problémy, a Trenčín nie je výnimkou. Mesto je krásne, ale tým že cezeň preteká rieka, vznikajú okrem príležitostí aj problémy. Rieka alebo vodný tok je všeobecne finančne a materiálovo náročnou položkou, preto sa zvyknú niektoré problémy prehlaidať, až kým sa nestanú jej súčasťou. Postupne sa z mestskej riečnej promenády stáva priestor bez definície, bez aktívnej náplne a hrádza sa mení z verejného priestoru iba na svoju podstatnú funkciu a tou je bariéra. Problém ignorovania naedostatkov alebo posúvanie riešenia na neurčito iba prehlbuje jazvu v meste, ako napríklad bývalý priemysleý park v Nových Zlatovciach, ktorý neplní dostatočne svoju funkciu a pritom sa nachádza hneď za chránenou inundačnou zónou, na nábreží rieky. Takéto priestory však vedia priniesť veľkú pridanú hodnotu, ak sa s nimi správne pracuje.
Rieka a mestské nábrežie majú okrem rizík a problémov aj veľa výhod a potenciálov, ktoré sa týkajú verejného priestoru a života v meste. Dokážu nalákať množstvo ľudí aby tam trávili svoj čas, či pracovný alebo voľný. Trenčín má dokonca dva ostrovy, jeden z nich je využívaný ako športová plocha, no tejnto ostrov skrýva ešte väčšií potenciál, aký sa využíva dnes. Ostrov by mohol byť strediskom športu a prechodného bývania. Veľký potencál má však okrem športu aj celá nábrežná línia váhu, inundačná záplavová zóna, ktorá by sa so správnym narábaním mohla stať dominantnou pešou trasou popri Váhu, nie len na hrádzi.
Mesto by malo počúvať ľudí, ktorí chcú niečo zmeniť, sú aktívni a už teraz pracujú na lepšiom verejnom mestskom živote. Hlavným záujmom obnovy a transformácie nábrežia by pre mesto mala byť hrádza a to nie le n ako priestor určený na presun ľudí z bodu A do bodu B, ale aj pre aktívne využívanie priestorov hrádze a pod ňou. Trenčín ponúka široké spektrum typológie nábrežnej hrany a ešte väčšie potenciály ak sa tieto nábrežia začnú transformovať.
Problem definition Every city has problems, and Trenčín is no exception. The city is beautiful, but because the river flows through the cesium, there are problems in addition to opportunities. A river or stream is generally a financially and materially demanding item, so some problems tend to be overlooked until they become part of it. Gradually, the city’s river promenade becomes an area without definition, without active content, and the dam changes from a public space only to its essential function, and that is a barrier. The problem of ignoring the shortcomings or postponing the solution indefinitely only deepens the scar in the city, such as the former industrial park in Nové Zlatovce, which does not fulfill its function sufficiently and is located just behind the protected floodplain, on the river bank. However, such spaces can bring great added value if they are used properly.

Potentials and solutions In addition to risks and problems, the river and the city’s waterfront also have many advantages and potentials related to public space and city life. They can entice a lot of people to spend their time there, whether working or free. Trenčín even has two islands, one of which is used as a sports area, but this island has even more potential than is used today. The island could be a center of sports and temporary housing. However, in addition to sports, the whole waterfront also has great potential, an inundation flood zone, which, with the right handling, could become the dominant walking route along the Váh, not only on the dam.
Potentials and solutions The city should listen to people who want to change something, are active and are already working on a better public city life. The main interest of the restoration and transformation of the waterfront should be a dam for the city, not only as a space intended for the movement of people from point A to point B, but also for the active use of the dam space and below it. Trenčín offers a wide range of embankment edge typologies and even greater potentials if these embankments begin to transform.

AKO VIDÍM S ODSTUPOM ČASU SVOJ PROJEKT ?
ČO BOLO NA TOMTO PROJEKTE ŤAŽKÉ ?
ČO SOM SA NAUČIL ?
Projekt časom naberal väčšie a väčšie rozmery, čo sa možno dalo očakávať, ale aj tak som bol prekvapený kam sa až dá zájsť. Z mierky mesta a až regiónu som sa dostával do mierky materiálov a povrchov vo verejnom priestore. Myslím si, že orojekt nabral neočakávanú hĺbku a vedel by ukázať možnú hypotetickú premenu nábrežia, aspoň jednu jeh očasť a jednu z veľkého počtu možností jeho transformácie.
Najťažší bol time management celého projektu, pretože ešte nikdy som sa nestretol s mierkou celého mesta a akupunktúrnych vstupov na jeho viacerých častiach. Premýšľať nad takýmito súvislosťami a zároveň sa snažiť sústrediť na jednu lokalitu a detailné vstupy v nej bolo asi najviac “ challenging”.
Nie som si istý, či som sa to už naučil, ale aspoň sa snažím naučiť sa chápať v jednom čase rôzne diametrálne odlišné mierky a ich súvislosti. Je to beh na dlhú trať.
What were the difficulties of this project ?
How do i see my project now ?
The most difficult was the time management of the whole project, because I had never encountered the scale of the whole city and acupuncture inputs in its several parts. Thinking about such contexts and at the same time trying to focus on one location and detailed inputs in it was probably the most “challenging”.
I’m not sure if I’ve learned it, but at least I’m trying to learn to understand different diametrically different scales and their connections at one time. It’s a long-distance run... :)
Over time, the project took on larger and larger dimensions, which might have been expected, but I was still surprised where to go. From the scale of the city and the region, I got to the scale of materials and surfaces in public space. I think that the project has taken on an unexpected depth and would be able to show a possible hypothetical transformation of the waterfront, at least one part of it and one of the many possibilities for its transformation.
