Competition site was only small public space in fron of OC Labut. Therefore we decided to extend our task to whole street and to do like a vision of the opportunities for the city. The project is divided into phases. First phase is the site itself. We placed there three basic furnitures, „coach“, „terrace“ and map of the city as a plate that protects roots of the tree. In the second phase, we complete the renovation of the irst half of the street. It depends on the demolition of the ugly staircase. Afterwards will be created new square with interactive fountain, benches for different situations and information panels about communistic demolishing. Square is place for concerts markets and other activites. In the third phase the street is completed. The new buildings are erected and a lot of trees planted. There are spaces for various activites like cafés, green lawns for picknicks, gardens and also parking.

Project develops the urban design project „South harbour“. The main volume is an enclosed urban block - to emphasise fact, we are in he city centre. It is open to the side, so courtyard act as a living street. On the other side there is adequate privacy. Block contains commercial groundfloor, office in west wing, underground garrages, flats and small houses. All appartemets and houses are accessible from the courtyard, so the is very clear circulation. There is a big variety of appartements so the soicial groups can be mixed. There are big teraces and balconies to provide space for private gardes, etc. The added value is a community room below the office and dock for private boats. The smallest apartment is 3m width. It is purposely againts current regulations. Project try to go against tradditional regulation stereotypes. The structure is made of laminated wood panels. It is used for all parts of structure except of basement. The stuctural material is shown on the facade as a big scale (3x3m) CLT panel cladding. The bottom of the building is claded by reused bricks from demolished former warehouse (cradle to cradle). In this way, the project try to be really sustainable and resilient. Energy is produced by PV panels on the roof and other parts of the building. Cooling is suplied from the district network. Garages are reduced, so it is motivation to not use as many cars (in the city centre it is not so important).

Basic concept is to activate harbour pier. The most significant intervention is cubic pavillon floating in the sea. The building can migrate to various places in the harbour and it makes constant change of panorama of the city - one of the main features of the place. It reffers also to other singularities of thah site. Building is shaped like a ship and it create another island of the scattered helsinhi shore. Another intervention is to bring atmosphere of the 19th century harbour. Former shoreline was organic with vegetation. One piece of infill land is therefore excavated to the original coast. It is part of open air presentation of the martime museum .

Location is as complex and valuable as can be. Therefore the design respect spirit of the place and follow the context. The site is divided into three parts. In the central part, there are designed only interventions. A new landmark of the cityscape that moves from one to another side of the quay and integrate to existing harbour dynamism. The left side has subtle terminalbuilding that respects the landscape panorama. The right side is formed as a dense urban quarter with mixed functions and intimate courtyards. Design reffers to industrial architecture and its urban fabric.

Commision was specific due to fact, that renovation was already set up and building layout was predesigned by sombody else and in progress. My objective was to keep and strenghten the vernacular look within a client modern vision. My design is fence to the street, south facade with sliding doors connecting interior with exterior, extension of summer kitchen with pergola, terrain modification and materiality of design.

VERNACULAR FAMILY HOUSE

Objectives was simple and pragmatic. To find out suitable location, to propose sustainable programm and to design building with minimal impact to its environment. Social context, location, materials, co2, use, recyclation and energy was teken into consideration. The most identifiing element was courtain wall as a buffer zone and circulation space made completely of old reused wooden windows. Energy was calculated in PHPP: 2kW/m2 a and building produce more energy than it needed. Active house.

ZERO IMPACT STUDENT HOUSE

Assignment was as vague as possible. To find a location within gentse ringway and in than according to survey came with kind of intervention. We found abandoned appartement house occupied by squatters. Our proposal is looking for a balance between city, inhabitants and squaters. This anti-squatting sollution is based on participation and legalisation of squatting with some basic rules. Project gives an opportunity for minorities to start new phase of their lives. Programm is wide: start up offices, student housing, families in needs, art, organising events, common r e n o v a t i o n o f b l o c k a n d c o n t r i b u t i o n t o n e i g h b o u r h o o d . In return, city receives tax money from succesful start up projects or saved families / individuals.

´The task was to came with architectonical statement about futere and sustainability of the neighbourhood in Antwerpen. The site was already built with strong impact of traffic connected to art deco neighbourhood. Design was divided into group masterplan and individual part. Our proposal was to vacant existing urban texture, create connections and common garden for row houses in the block. In my proposal i design „in-between“ housing in fomer public building with pablic spaces and multypurpouse public space within former lidl structure. Concept is based on reusing of existing buildings. Dwelling is combination of house and flat typology. As a statement to a future homeworking every unit has a workplace separated from living area and all units contains big entrance space to strore bikes and technology. Project is strenghten by subtle and sensitive threshold between public and private spaces by using diffrent levels, ramps, dimensions of corridors or frontyards (bench), ... Public space within lidl provide opportunities for neighbourhood activites, sport, leisure, cafe, bbc, graffity art, ...

Objectives of the restoration was to adapt upper strorey of our family house to new situation when childrens went away and house stays occupied only by parents Second reason was adaptation to older parents by better cirulation and organisation of plan and adding missing kitchen. This helps to avoid using stairs and move living only to one floor. During renovation 11 doors was removed and only 5 were placed. 6 small hallways was attached to room to make them spacious. Only small parts of walls and openings were built again. Most of work was done by yourselves such as suspended ceiling, concrete slab, floor heating, insulation ... Emphasis was placed to use healthy and natural materials. Chld room is designed like flexible space that can be simply demounted and connected to living room.

HOME RENOVATION

Urban concept is to create gradient of public, collective and private spaces. Urban block is enclosed to the street to ensure safety and to make a buffer to the highway. Parking is semi-underground level under the backyard. Main idea is to propose maximum diversity of collective living supporting the individuality of tenants. As well the composition of big urban block is divided into small units. Refference to the project was netherlands and scandinavian architecture and also historical city centres that has appropriate scale and diverity of facades. This is key to attractive urban structure. Concept of diversity is also applied in plans. 20 different types of flats is proposed. Complex is in passive standard.

One nave church in late gothic from 15th century was closed due to bad state. The tower collapsed and fell down. We propose sensitive renovation. Idea was to bring back previous volume of tower in new but neutral material. Tower is simplified copy of former one and has new purpouse. On the top of it, there is a viewpoint and along the staircase is exposition of the village. It is also circullation space to the community space in the loft where library is located. Architecture is contextual. Exernal plaster of the church was removed to present gothic walls. New volumes are made of contrete to not compette with old church and to make a clear difference. Roof is covered by red zinc plates. Layout of interior follows gothic phase. These is new pram in vestibule, toilettes and dressing room for priest.

Project should cover needs of neighbouring faculties and provide space for common activites, representation, accomodation for guest proffesors and social / workshop space. Main idea is to promote university and its research, outcome to society and strenghten image of the institution. Promotion is shown up in differnet ways. The building extend to the street walkway and in this way communicate with pedestrians by pop up exhibitions, digital platforms. This extension is also buffer zone to the street. Glazing act as a big advertising screen and support the image of the university as modern institution. Centre is open to the public and vertically divided. The more higher level the more quiet space. Building contains also underground collator parking.
