WELCOME TO KOKOMO
HOUSING
In 2020, Kokomo’s housing stock was ranked No. 2 in the nation and No. 1 in the Midwest in affordability. All this has resulted in an influx of housing development, with Kokomo seeing its fair share of projects in recent years. Multiple housing and apartment developments are now underway in Kokomo.
Whether you’re in the market for a Victorian mansion in the National Register Historic District, a luxury apartment, a downtown condominium or a newly-built bungalow in an established neighborhood, Kokomo’s housing supply has something for you.
Mayor Tyler Moore
“There’s a lot of great things going on in Kokomo these days!” It’s encouraging to hear this statement made by other citizens and visitors. Many are surprised when they recognize Kokomo’s vibrant and growing network of commerce, arts, universities, world-class manufacturing and quality amenities help Kokomo remain one of the best Midwestern cities. I want to personally welcome you to visit our city and to see for yourself what Kokomo has to offer.
EDUCATION
From early childhood to post-bachelor, Kokomo has long recognized that a world-class education system is critical to developing a world-class workforce. Our Kokomo schools provide instructional opportunities to all students through its Advanced Placement curriculum, International Baccalaureate Program, International School and Career Center-all which prepare students for college or technical training.
Kokomo’s post-secondary education opportunities are unmatched by very few other communities in Indiana. The growing campuses of Indiana University Kokomo and Ivy Tech Community College attract students from across the Midwest. In addition, Purdue Polytechnic’s and Indiana Wesleyan’s programs have expanded to meet the workforce demands of the nation’s leading employers.
QUALITY OF PLACE
As the birthplace of one of America’s first gasoline combustion-engine cars, stainless steel, signal seeking radios, stellite, and more, Kokomo’s history of innovation and ingenuity spans over 150 years. For this reason, our community has a strong employer presence in the automotive, manufacturing and technology industries. Companies like Stellantis, formerly known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, which has invested $2.5 billion in the Kokomo area, recently chose to expand its Kokomo facilities to take advantage of our talented workforce.
It is the breadth of new amenities and vibrant community events that attracts new residents to Kokomo. Things like our new Championship Park baseball multiplex, scenic Riverwalk, amazing Summer Concert Series, Farmer’s Market and annual community festivals are just a few of the many, wonderful attributes that make Kokomo great.
HOPE TO SEE YOU IN KOKOMO!
Tyler O. Moore, Mayor
