2013-14 Annual Report • Athletic Director’s Address…..........................3 • Three C’s of CFA Athletics…………………………….4 • Facts at Your Fingertips…..……………………………5 • Athletic Department Highlights…………………..6 • Analysis….…………………………………………….........9 • Team Accomplishments................................10 • Athlete Recognition…………………………………….13 • Appendix……………………………………………………..17

Dear Black Tiger Faithful, Interscholastic athletics has a long and rich tradition at Cuyahoga Falls Academy. Throughout its 143-year history, our students have proven they can compete on the playing field, as well as in the classroom. Along with the many conference and state titles earned over the years, our community has always placed a premium on the values instilled and the lessons learned from athletic competition. CFA mission states, in part, that the Academy exists "to offer growth promoting opportunities" for the members of our student body. Cuyahoga Falls Academy sponsors 68 athletic teams in 12 girls' sports, 11 boys' sports, and three coed sports. Approximately, 84% of our students in grades 9-12 participate in at least one sport. Athletics provide the opportunity to extend classroom lessons to a broader playing field where life lessons can be learned; lessons in teamwork, self-discipline, personal sacrifice, respect, and responsibility that enrich the lives of our students and prepare them for life in the "real world" following graduation. A commitment to athletic excellence is not only reflected in the many championship banners collected over the years, but also through Cuyahoga Falls Academy’s adherence to high standards of personal conduct and good sportsmanship on the part of coaches, players, and fans alike. Sincerely, Tommy Callahan ‘87 Director of Athletics

THE THREE C’s OF CFA ATHLETICS CHARACTER • COMMUNITY • COMPETITION We strongly believe that athletic competition, in a properly structured atmosphere, is an important developmental opportunity for our student participants. Cuyahoga Falls Academy’s participation in team-oriented sports (in particular, league competition within the WSSAA on the high school level) presents an opportunity for individuals with specific athletic skills to be involved in competition against other schools. While the emphasis of the program should never be to “win at all costs,” pursuit of victory through physical and mental preparation within a team atmosphere is deemed to be a worthy standard.

The role of athletics at Cuyahoga Falls Academy is multifaceted, offering variety of opportunities for the students in different grade levels of the school. First, as a general program incorporating the entire student body, athletics at CFA are designed to teach fundamental physical development. Through an all-encompassing program of activities and exercise programs, each student learns to maintain proper care of his/her physical body. Every student is provided with an opportunity to be involved in specific physical activities on a daily basis.
