European Day of Languages - Event ideas European Day of Languages is a council of Europe initiative, that falls on 26th September each year. It is an event of language and cultural diversity, that is celebrated throughout the UK and in 45 countries across Europe. With the help of La Jolie Ronde, we've come up with some great ideas to celebrate European Day of Languages with the children, either at school, at nursery, at the childminder’s, or simply at home. We've listed some French and Spanish event themes, however these can be adapted for any languages you like! Arts & Crafts - Make French or Spanish Flags and Rosettes. Or why not try some Monet or Picasso style painting. Cooking Session - Decorate fairy cakes and biscuits using coloured icing, using French or Spanish phrases as you're reading out the instructions. History Lesson - Talk about famous French or Spanish discoveries, inventions, and other historical events.
