TM RESIDENCE Junior Architect at MSA The Osborne, New York City

MSA in collaboration with Selldorf Architects redesigned the refurbishment, the extension and the interiors of a magazine editor and gallerist’s family apartment located in Manhattan’s historic Osborne apartment building. Known for its richly embellished lobby and varicolored mosaic-tiled and marble walls and floors, the 1885 mid-rise provided inspiration for the design and allowed for an elegant balance between the building’s traditional style and modern sensibilities. Unique architectural elements in the apartment were restored to their original condition, including the parquet floors, leaded-glass windows, geometric transoms, intricately carved moldings, and the fireplaces. Vibrant hues extracted from the jewel-toned mosaic tiles of the original fireplaces inspired colors seen across the 14-ft ceiling living spaces, dining area and kitchen. Contemporary art throughout the entire apartment is in balance with the understated white walls that offer a backdrop to the art and furniture.

BLUPRINT OFFICE Junior Architect at MSA Chelsea, New York City

Bluprint is an advertising and brand identity restyling company located in the heart of Chelsea. The challenge in this project was linked to the necessity of rearranging the existing 80’s office layout to a more contemporary , flexible and clean spatial environment. Our intervention has aimed to create an open space office arranged around an high cabinetry element that creates a hierarchy between the main working space, the staircase, the restrooms, the kitchen and the dining area. The meeting room situated towards the eastern wall has been designed in order to be visually continuous with the main space, but also acoustically insulated through the use of a detailed glass partition. The fresh and neat furniture, furnishing and fixtures reflect the office young and dynamic approach.

WPWB INSTALLATION Graphic Designer at MSA Winter 2018-2019

Year after year MSA has been asked to design and realize the tombola cards draft and installation at the Wassaic Project Winter Benefit. The event is a way to the Wassaic Project resident artists to exhibit and sell their art pieces. For the 2018 and 2019 I had a personal collaboration with the artist and organizers in the making of the bingo cards installation. A common graphic inspiration for both the editions came to me by the interest in generating an optical illusion in order to provide a 3D effect through a merely graphical way. The 2018 WPWB installation is a variation on the trompe l’oeil artifice, whose inspiration comes from the key displaying shelves in Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel. Every card is in fact the key to receive the actual artwork price. In the 2019 installation I explored the augmented 3D effect through the use of mirrored squared cards, precisely designed and etched by laser to obtain multiple reflections. As waves in the water, also the font wants to increase the effect, inspired by Lance Wyman’s Mexico ‘68 style.

MUSEUM DER MODERNE Diploma Studio: Aires Mateus Salzburg Monschsberg

Through a geometric and rational principle, already dear to the planning of the baroque garden, the project arises as an artificialelement that you stand as a horizontal line on the hilly topography of the site. If seen from the city’s historic center, situated at a height of more than 60 meters at the foot of the MÜnchsberg, it represents an ideal crowning to the anthropic and natural stratigraphy of the heights. The plate containing the exhibition spaces and the foyer of the museum is supported on the underlying topography, highlighting a suspended, monomateric and impenetrable facade from the outside which contrasts with the introspective character of the two inner courtyards. These voids represent the threshold between nature and artifice and give the building a visual permeability, valued by its horizontal character. A confident construction that presents the weight and density of its task which, in parallel, show the attraction of a void yet to inhabit. It is a building that in its isolation, opens itself to the world. The structure is articulated by a large beam-wall pattern containing service and display storage areas. The large spaces created by the structural texture are flexible and can therefore be further divided and reorganized in relation to the exhibitions from time to time provided.

RESTAURANT UNDER A SQUARE Design Studio: Valerio Olgiati Place du Palais Royal, Paris

Since the ancient times, the ritual of feeding on is strictly connected to other aspects that are not directly involved with the simple taste of food. In a restaurant, what is sold is more than simple food, it is an olistic performance. A restaurant is a stage. The duality of front and back scene, the sense of catharsis proper of theatrical art, synonym of restoration, and the influence of appearance are transforming the primitive ritual of collective eating. Famous restaurants are today similar to arenas in which we play a mise-en-scene of our lifestyles. The restaurant transforms the square into the gigantic foyer of a mysterious place, beneath it. The public link to the hidden restaurant is given by a ramp that runs through the dept of the ground to finally reach the underground space. Through a continuous slope in the ground, the guests experience a catharsis, losing their sense of orientation and perception of the underground space.

TRAIN STATION IN PROVENCE Design Studio: Frederic Bonnet Marseille Agrocity

The structure of the station has been designed in horizontal according to the lenght of the trains and the landscape issues. It is composed by two lines of pre-casted and post-assemblied on site concrete arches that contain functional facilities, such as ticket service and small cafeteria and a botanical garden. This garden runs through all the lenght of the station and is populated by local plants, such as nympheas and the typical Provence dry vegetation. The internal greenhouses contain then pluvial or desertic trees, taking light directly from the roof openings. These spaces are insulated from the noise and low temperature during winter. The attention towards designing not only a functional infrastructure, but also a public natural space answers to the necessity of not conceiving the infrastructure as a “non lieu, but also as a protected spot to stay and relax, contemplating the landscape.
