I
n this project, I proposed a new method for perceiving the physical city through walking, runnning and cycling. I aimed at srchitectural design that ingrates the value of spaces taht are overlooked by the logic of "calculation" such as productivity and economy with the logic of "space". Traveling through the urban is synonymous with physically perceiving the urban. While traveling, people move from one destination to the other, experiencing the urban environment, without spaces to rest. These spaces are buried within the city. InTokyo the imperial Palace is a location that people experience phisically through running. Everyday the Imperial Palace, a lot of runners that circle the inner moat. The Tokyo marathon, one of biggest marathon in the world, which threadsthrough many histrical sites of the city, goes through the grounds of Palace. Historically, the traditional Japanese festival of Sannoh Matsuri is held the Hie Shrine. The Palace proviedes the histrical and topographical content to these activities. Referring to the Imperial palace running, I proposed the "The Castle Moat Cycling" which poeple can use on a daily basis and the space for them where is transformed as the plaza for festival like Piazza del Campo. I tried to revive the relationship between the urban and the temporal overlap of human beings and reconsider the community. This project shows the one of the next destinations to grow in the urban life in the economically mature cities.

hat is stimulating sensation? People tend to look at unusual things that stimulate sensation, but there are a lot of things like that in daily life. I tried to design architecture that sharpens the sensation. In Shibuya, I designed an art culture center with a concert hall, library, braille librariy, gallery, while considering the complicated circulation of Shibuya Station. I tried to design architecture consisting entirely of Hyperbolic Shells. Around this site, There are stations of JR line, Tokyu line and Tokyo Metro and bus stops, so here there is potential to e a place where uidity stay. The plan is configured to involve people in hi uya with the daily scenery that stimulates the five senses and lead them to an extraordinary space. Extracting sounds, characters, pictures, smells and scenery and incorporating them into the space, I intended to sharpen certain senses and invite them to the space that appeal to the senses.
Guest Prof. Norio KITA (KAJIMA DESIGN, Principal Architect) Visiting Prof. Yoshiharu KANEBAKO (Kanebako Structure Engineers) Assignment Architecture can provide friendly environments that can serve every one, including the dusabled. Base on this idea of universal design, the assignment for this studio was to propose an srt center for the disabled, ehich could create a cultural environment easily accessi le within the usy traffic node of hi uya. In this art center, five senses were to be liberated. Through program, it was hoped that students could amplify the use of some or neglected senses and discover new possibilities of architecture. Type of Project Sense-stimulation Art Center for the Disabled Place Shibuya Station, Tokyo Site Area 3500 ㎡ Program Hall for 800 people (1500 ㎡ ) Art gallery (1500 ㎡ ) Workshop room (1000 ㎡ )

he site has dense small shops in the district of Ōimachi Higashikou i is located ne t to Ōimachi station and faces the Main street. The pedestrian road is leard with Sakura trees.I proposed the Cinema Complex with exsit small shops. There are planar axis and layers which make the locality unique depending on the distance from surrounding environment. I made them to be three-dimension and new unique locality. Each layer were interfered with each other by Cinema. The space induces the chance to people who are there to find goods, movies and shops they didnt know.
Prof. Shin-ichi OKUYAMA Assignment These days there are large redevelopment projects happening in many cities. On the other hand, some high-density old districts that consist of super small shops are left. The assignment for this studio as to propose an alternative redevelopment project to renovate such a district with new architectural concept of multiplication. The project site is a partial lock facing main road located ne t to Ōimachi station, which contains a restaurant area called Ōimachi Higashikou i Type of Project Redevelopment Project for a Super-Dense Small Shops District Place Ōimachi, Tokyo Site Area 3760 ㎡ Program 8 Cinemas (for 300 people ×2,for 150 people ×2 and others) Including the all exist small shops

n Tokyo Tech, the education and research are highly specialized. However, each field is subdivided and there is no exchange with each other. In addition, buildings in university accelerate expertise, but they hide them from outside. Then, I proposed that by using sports as opportunities, the interfaces of people will be increased and "ferment" Tokyo Tech. This project is rebuilding the existing sports facility. The site where I selected is the sports facility including gym, pool and so on and this building separates sports field from center of university and the the original topography was vanished. Referring the former scenery, I tried to design the landscape as architecture which has the spaces where people in different fields can Guest Prof. Akihisa HIRATA (akihisa hirata architecture office) Assignment A university is an intergrate space of various types of insight and new research. However, in most cases, each research endevor on tends to be isolated in each learning domain, and there is room left for interventions, which make full use of architecture creativity. There is possibility pf three-dimentional development of open space with a narrow site. Here, we offer "fermentation" which may increase the interface of interchance in a university. The word also suggests a changing architectural form based on the existing university network. The assigment is to select a specific location inTokyo Tech to propose architectural investions inspired from contavt with poeple in position of different field, and spending toime with them in com fortable and creative way. e just made a very primitive space using quite limited resources around the site in Boisbuchet. So we decided to use our bodies and took simple, primitive gesture of digging. This hole has quite a complex story behind it - one that involeves human scale, the scale of collectiveness, the scale of the enviroment and the context of place, especially the paticular place surrounding Boisbuchet. We also thought a lot about hidden scales, about modularity hidden within the environmet. We tried to to perceive and structure the environment in new way, so its location could not be really casual or random. In order to observe elements of the scenery in the way we wanted to, example is more or less 75 centimeters(30 inches) eyes were level with the grass. From that eye level, the depth of field, the depth of scenary was in effect cancelled out. We started to see single elements within the landscape, one detached from another. They're not really structured or composed. We began to see the singularity of the chateau, a tree, our shed, our dormitory space. The view from the hole enabled a non-hierarchical perception of the things around us. That's what we wanted to produce as a space.
Cheaf of Japanese group Go Hasegawa(Go Hasegawa and Associates) Type of Project Installation Place Boisbuchet, France Site Area -㎥ Program Depression
