Why did I choose these three projects? I try to explore landscape solutions to the waste land caused by three typical reasons: natural disasters, urbanization, and policy changes.

Post-disaster Reconstruction Site Lower Ninth Ward,New Orleans,USA AREA 40ha TYPE:Drawing&Concept Deepening(lndividual Work) Preliminary Concept(Teammate:Miao Ruiqing) DATE:04/2017 ADVISOR:Siyu Bei After Hurricane Katrina in 2005,Lower Ninth Ward is the hardest hit area in Orleans.Ten years later,the post-disaster reconstruction road is still bitter for the Lower Ninth Ward, which has more than 90% black residents.The Lower Ninth Ward is still full of dilapidation, which has become the most criticized place for the post-disaster reconstruction work in New Orleans. However, the residents of the original community still want to come back. There are three problems in the process of rebuilding the community: criminal threat, flood hazard and disappearing community. Our aim is to design a new community model to solve problems.

Hurricane Katrina, a Category 5 storm, struck the city of New Orleans on the morning of August 29, 2005 causing widespread destruction.The city remained flooded for over a month. The Lower 9th Ward residential neighborhood is probably the most extreme example of the change Katrina caused in the city of New Orleans. It was among the hardest hit by the storm and levee failures more than a decade ago.

Cisterns of different sizes form a new system of community parks. Most pocket park water can be concentrated in the community park along the main drainage road. The water in the community park passes through the highway to the wetland park, and the water in the wetland park passes through the railway and drains into the wetland. A planting pond formed by a pile of soil on either side can be used to form a plantation to provide jobs.

1.Houses collapsed in flood and hurricane
The thing that people fear most is being forgotten. The list of the dead in Hurricane Katrina was engraved on the entrance monument, hoping that people can remember the disaster. At the same time, the bottom of the monument provides space for memorial flowers and candles.

Turning house ruins into activity spaces, such as basketball courts, tennis courts, etc. The activity space is lower than the ground.it is used as a daily activity space during non-flood period while it has the functions of water storage and drainage to face the problems of 100-year flood and sea level rise.

Revitalization of Shanghai Old Town SITE Huangpu,Shanghai,China AREA:18ha TYPE:Teamwork Work | Teammate:Zicheng Fan(Analysis) DATE:03/2018 ADVISOR:Yuting Su With the development of urbanization,the old town of Shanghai has lost its past prosperity.Due to the surrounding high-rise buildings and the increasing number of internal housing in the old town,the streets are e omi ro ded ad Ȁ e i i ili o Ȁfire fi i ildi i Ȁde rea i At the same time,with the influx of immigrants,the old town is no longer a close-knit community.Our goal is to revive the old town,reconnect the relationship between people and recreate the spiritual symbol.

The site is located in the fourth quadrant of old town,Huangpu District of Shanghai and existed long before the concession areas were built.With the rapid development of urbanization, the historical value of the site itself is constantly challenged.

The site is close to kindergartens and memorial halls with the roof garden,so we design a children' park and a landscape bridge connected to the roof garden in the site.At the same time,it is close to commercial street and the food market with a large flow people, so there is activity square.
This site is an activity square where watchtower can be seen.People can gather here at night to hold activities or watch the light show or movies of the tower on the landscape bridge. In addition, since the nearby buildings are mainly historical buildings, the square can also be used as a meeting and speech space during the day.

The site is close to community center and watchtower,therefore, we design a gathering square for celebration,performance,job fair and etc.In addition, screens iare added to the alarm to play the movie for the public.
In the evening, community centers sometimes hold activities and people come to play in this square.At the same time, the side of the tower will show movies to the residents of the community.

Re-imagine Abandoned Railways

Site:Hongkou,Shanghai,CHINA AREA:0.8ha TYPE:lndividual Work DATE:09/2016 ADVISOR:Haoran,Li With the development of the times, the policy is constantly changing,so many outdated factories and railways are gradually abandoned. I want to reactivate these abandoned sites because Shanghai is very crowded and needs more activity space.The site is an abandoned railway.The surrounding conditions are very limited, Firstly,there is a subway line above the project.Secondly,there are uneven rails inside the site. My jod is to explore the possibility of turning these negative factors into positive factors.

CONCEPT TIME RECORD
The site is an abandoned railway land.We explore the possibility of using the abandoned urban fringe and try to turn the negative factors in the site into positive factors to attract people. Most of the areas near the site are schools and residences,but but there are few parks,so the goal is to create a dynamic and inviting place for the pedestrians and the people from the nearby neighborhoods to spend quality time there.

Within 30s after the subway passes, the color of resonance art installation will change according to the amplitude, which can form a good urban landscape to attract people to enter the site and activate the site.

LAYER ANALYSIS The site is seperated from the city's main roads by shrubs and trees.A series of planters and benches are placed along the building through the site. It invites people to sit down to rest and interact with the module blocks.Two tracks with module blocks are placed at the entry under the viaduct.When the subway passes by, people sit on blocks to watch the changes of artistic devices.When the subway does not pass, people can watch the blocks change automatically or participate in pushing boxes to form different combination forms to meet different activity requirements,such as skateboarding, crawling, resting and so on.
