Student Support Services What are student support services? Student support services, include prevention, intervention, transition and follow-up services for students and families. Student support service professionals provide direct services for students, especially those who are experiencing problems that create barriers to learning. This can include any professionals involved in providing assessment, diagnosis, counseling, educational, therapeutic, and other necessary services as a part of a comprehensive program to meet student needs.
“As a corps member, I witnessed that students with special needs face additional barriers to learning, and without support services they will struggle to reach their full potential. I chose to pursue speech pathology to work with students who are often at a greatest disadvantage in our schools, and to help the parents of students navigate the system in order to obtain services that support their children's ability to learn and be successful.
