Knowledge Center This project is an architectural design project for a 2,000 sqm Knowledge Center in a land at Surasak’s Junction. Surasak is a district that is known for high-rises office buildings. From the statistics Thai people reads only 5 books/year!! And this is one of the major issues that need to be improved. How can reading be integrated to the life of people who doesn’t have a reading habit? How can reading or gaining new knowledge become a good experience? How can improve the reading experience? Answering these questions through architectural design is the main challenge in this project. My answer for these questions is “Ambiguity”. Ambiguity allows people to interpret things in different ways, therefore respond differently. By seeing different alternatives, try different things; explore different possibilities is definitely a way of learning, yet, interesting. Using these attitudes in the design is what being done in this project.

Ramps tubes are use for creating the main circulation path. This is to create a harmonious shift from one space to another, both physically and psychologically, and also to form a “Maze type of circulation, which increases the sense of exploring.
Both in and above the ramps are being use for circulation. This created more options for the users to choose, and add the complexity to the circulation.

This is an example of a daily routine for a working class person. This routine is kept on repeating from a week to months and to years!! And formed a rhythm, which could finally become a definition for life of the person. However not everybody is happy about this. This is why people started to find different solutions like, a holiday, travelling to different places, visiting theme parks, try other activities and etc., to Escape from this repetition. Shopping mall is one of the places that are well integrated into our lives and fit perfectly to our reality. They are designed to answer all our needs and attract us. They are using all of their might to encourage us to spend our time in and end up buying. They are using advertisements, promotions, events, attractions, sales, architecture, services and so on, to lure us inside their space, where they can control everything, and spend like in Casinos and Theme parks. Unlike Casinos and Theme parks shopping mall is not totally disconnected to the outside world and is belong to the Reality. Trying to integrate the Imaginary experience, or the sense of Escape, to the Reality is what being challenge in this underground shopping mall project. Visciral Intricacy - Cappricio Alteration
Cappricio is a painting for Architectural Fantasy. Every single elements in the Cappricio are neccessary for creating the ideal situation in the scene. Therefore learning by altering the the Cappriccio bit by bit would tell us to what extend we have to change to create an effect to the whole scene and what we have to change to create a new visual experience we desire.

Visciral Intricacy - Site - Old Deira Dubai
Old Deira is considered to be the old Dubai. On one hand it is where we can experience the Dubai traditional atmosphere, full of souq (dubai’s term for market), with mainly commercial and some residential building typologies. On the other hand it is a very develop office district, with high rise offices and condominiums. The contrast of the two could be seen in this district.

Different colors shows different feelings that a person would feel inside the shopping mall. In this case Yellow- the impressive moment Red- the stressful Purple- the combination of both stressful and impressives. These feelings are constructed by different types of the shops, people in the area, space, temperature, lighting, etc. This is to create variety of experiences.

Visciral Intricacy - Sections through the Project The first impression of this shopping mall from the main entrance is design to be boring and disappointing!! By orienting the regular, mundane, shops that people can find anywhere in this corridor. This is to lower the expectations of the guest and prepare them for a more surprising moment that will be following up.

3 Form of Recollection People always drawn to, wish to, recollect something that is special to them. Examples like Disneyland that recollects different Disney characters environment to fulfil the dreams of many people, Harry Potter world that constructed the world of wizards or even Amphawa that recollects the Thai traditional floating market and the “Thainess”. These sites of memories are proven to be one of the most successful architectural typology commercially. And this is the Recollection of “Wonderland” in “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. What is being recollected here is the logics behind the story, environments and the sense of “Escape” from our “daily”, “normal characters”, which we have seen in our everyday life. Wonderland according to the story is actually an environment that consists of everything that existed in our everyday life, however what is different is the way they work. Sometime they work in the opposite or sometime completely different manner than what we expected to happen in outlives. All the actions, conversations, environment etc. may seem to be non-sense, but everything that doesn’t make sense is completely making sense in the Wonderland, and this is the secret behind the fantasy of Wonderland, therefore The only way to experience the sense of Escape in Wonderland is to

Form of recollection - Learning from Amphawa Amphawa is one of the successful example of “Form of Recollection therefore it is important to learn about the technique used to construct these experience.
This is the comparison of the original Thai house (above) and the new buildings (below) found in Amphawa. The two of them uses totally different materials, different purpose, different lighting etc. but both of them gives the same feeling in fact the new one is actually gives the feeling of the oldness even more than the actual one.
34
Form of recollection - The Cosmography
35
This is a Cosmography map of the tourist behavior It shows the experiential aspect from the point of view of the tourists in Amphawa. What is really palpable inside Amphawa are the “Leisure lifestyle” “Thainess” “Old as the new Modern” “Traditional ways of Living” These qualities are shown on the 4 corners. In the outer most circle shows the behavior of different type of tourists when they are in Amphawa. The scattered circles toward the center shows all the tourist attraction spots. In the background is the map of Amphawa.

Form of recollection - Site selection
“Alice was begining to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank and of having nothing to do; once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, ‘ and what is the use of a book’, thought Alice, ‘without pictures or conversation?’ So she was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisychain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a WHITE RABBIT with pink eyes ran close to her”.
and this is when it all begins
Character in the World Expo
The Disappearing Site - The chosen site is the 2015 Expo site in Milan. This is because the World Expo would attracts people from all over the world and is an opportunity to gather variety of guests which would become the characters in the Wonderland
37
Form of recollection - Proposal
Top view of the wonderland - The chosen area is the area near a the organic garden in the Milan expo.
The first impression of the guest - While they are walking in the Expo they see a very large mushroom structure, that they would have no idea about what it is, what kind of program is that, and how to get there?
38
Form of recollection - Proposal The entrance to the Wonderland is some what hidden. The only clue is a home symbolic strcuture with nothing attractive. That raise up out of now where in the a park in the Expo.
The moment you enter, you will find the most unexpected unresonable program, in this case a toilet, then a bed room, then a living room, all of these are the lobby of this wonderland, these are non logical for any hotel
The Reversal of the LOGICS The logic in Wonderland works differently from the logic on the real world. Over here the sequence of experience, works the opposite of the above ground like you can see in the order in the diagram
39
The Underground lobby that contain all the private facilities and mixture of all the different facilities in the same place regardless how contrast they are.
The plan is also the mixture of different symbols in Alice in Wonderland, to remind people about the story. This is regardless the function of them.

4 Shimokitazawa Linear Park Shimokitazawa is a very unique district in Tokyo. It is a very lively district that active for full 24 hr. It is a very comfortable district, which is full of creativities. In the daytime it is famous for vintage style clothing, cafes, and restaurants. In the night it have a very active nightlife with music performance, theatre, and unique bars. In the past Shimokitazawa is separated by the active railway tracks, these tracks cause difficulties to the people. But today the city has built the underground train station, and these trains has gone underground, leaving the inactive railway tracks on ground. The goal of this project is to transform this inactive railway track into something that is suitable for Shimokitazawa. In this project what is being done is transforming these tracks into the “Ever changing part of the district, which would be suitable for Shimokitazawa. And also reflects and enhance the creative characteristic of the place.

Invisible Boundaries The theme for this workshop is to create an art installation that covey the message of “Boundaries”. The site for this installation is at the Berlin Wall memorial site, where the idea of boundaries and conflict is being emphasized. After several discussions among the group members we decided to deal with the “Invisible boundaries” which have the potential to be a very strong one. Invisible boundaries in this case is the boundaries that created by human, for example, people taking a photograph would create an invisible boundary in front of them which would indirectly force the people to walk behind this particular person by instinct, to avoid being capture in the photograph. Or when two people are having a conversation, this would create an invisible boundary between them which would stopping people from walking cross them. In this installation we exploring to what extend does these boundaries works, and what are their limitations and what is the effective method for creating the boundaries. First the experiments were carried out by the group members, later we do it by handling out the instruction cards about the formations to friends to create natural invisible boundaries in a lager area.

INDA + Meiji Workshop This is an urban design workshop held in Chulalongkorn University. The given site is a piece of land in Rachaprasong area. My team and I are doing a street design for the area. What we think is necessary to make a pleasant walking space for this very large area is the Street Hierarchy. This is to provide variety in the pedestrian experience. In this case there are 3 types of streets depending on the context of the site, the Main street, Commercial street, and Residential street.

Tamura International Workshop This workshop was held in Tamura, Fukushima, a place that had received a great impact from the nuclear radioactivity by the Tsunami incident in 2011. Since then most of the people had moved out to other city and do not wish to come back, leaving only the elderly people in the area. The tourism industry was damaged, factories were closed, vegetation industries were severely effected, leading to depopulation. The main goal of this workshop was to Revitalized Fukushima, and the topic for my group is “How To Revitalize Miyakoji” (a district in Tamura city) Our plan is to transform the area into “3As district” which includes “Agriculture” “Alternative” and “Adventure”. With these three goals we think we will be able to bring back people into Miyakoji. The goal for Agriculture is to make Miyakoji a sustainable city, so the elderly people would be able to live by themselves. Also the environment would also be transform into barrier free environment, which would be liveable by the elderly. The agriculture would also introduce the agricultural tourism, where tourist could learn the agriculture culture of Japan. Next is to develop research centres, university and experimental institutes, in Okubo community of Miyakoji. With the research centre it would guaranteed the safety of the people and gives hope for new alternatives for Miyakoji. Also to promote the adventure tourism in the area from the existing natural assets. By introduce new activities, tree houses, new trekking route, adventure camps, etc.

2B@ Wangyai This is a “Design Build for community” project at Wangyai, Khon Kean Thailand. What we did was a small library for the community. The Design process took 1 month and another month for the construction. The project involves 20 students and 2 instructors. The work were divided into “Facade Design” “Roof Design” “Public Relation” and “Landscape” and I was in Facade Design Team. The concept of this facade design is to create a new attractive facade that have a connection with the old rice store next to it. This connection is done by leaving a horizontal line that match with the horizontal line of the old rice store. The attractiveness of the facade is done by Colorful colors that would be seen differently when approaching the building from two different side. Also the 3 dimensional effect created by the smart board panels on the facade is what make this facade different form other buildings.
