Christmas for Causes Holiday Craft Show Early this year, Marcie Taylor had an idea to hold a holiday craft show to benefit the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation as well as many other community organizations. Her idea came to life at the Christmas for Causes Holiday Craft Show, held at Corner Coffee in Shippensburg on Monday, November 22, 2010. The foundation sold items like hats and scarves for American Girl dolls, wine charms and jewelry made by Marcie and her mom. Profits from the event raised approximately $166 for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation, and over $900 was raised by the seven charities in attendance.

Shippensburg University Homecoming 2010 In October, the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation was chosen to be the homecoming charity for Shippensburg University’s Homecoming 2010. Events were held during the week of October 18-23 and donation buckets as well as cover charges to the events all went to benefit the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation. Aside from all the profits from the events, the king and queen candidates this year were required to fundraise for the foundation as a percentage of their winning score. Between fundraising by the king and queen candidates, donation jars and event fees, the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation received a check for approximately $4,000 from the Shippensburg University Homecoming committee chairpersons. The check was presented to Randy and Marcie Taylor at the Dash for Drew in November.

Fifth Annual Dash for Drew Once again, the Dash for Drew was a smashing success for the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation! Now in its fifth year, the Dash was held on a sunny Saturday on November 13, 2010 at Greencastle-Antrim High School with 525 participants taking part in the race. For the second year in a row, Justin Dosch finished first, coming in with a time of 10:02. Amy Stahlman also repeated as the Masters’ women’s champion. Entry fees and t-shirt sales led to a $6,000 profit for the foundation, and community support in the form of food and drink donations helped the event to be a huge success. Thank you to all who participated and helped in making this event run smoothly!

Ready, Set, Go! Fall 2010 The fall session of Ready, Set, Go! was held on November 2 at James Burd Elementary School. After a dinner of baked ziti and salad, children participated in educational activities while parents attended workshops on early learning.

Drew’s Hope Fall 2010 The fall session of Drew’s Hope held its remembrance ceremony on Monday, December 13, 2010. This year (fall), the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation and professors and students from the Shippensburg University Counseling Department helped 11 families deal with their loss of a loved one.

Philly Rock N’ Roll 1/2 Marathon Both Randy and Marcie Taylor ran races this fall as Drew’s Crew members to raise funds for the DMTF. On Sept. 19, 2010, Marcie raised $900 running the Philly Rock-n-Roll ½ marathon (her first half since 2005). On Oct. 31, Randy ran the Marine Corps Marathon for the third time, along with local Drew’s Crew members Mark Ward and Todd Kirkwood. Joining in the MCM Drew’s Crew experience this year was Dave Mazza, a Horace Mann Ins. Co. colleague from western PA. Randy raised $5,000 and several more thousand dollars were added by Dave, Todd and Mark. If you would like more information about supporting the DMTF through Drew’s Crew, see the foundation website at www.drewmichaeltaylor.org for more information.
