Lewis Collins came close to adding a third goal in the 85th minute, hitting a shot across goal and wide after a mazy run into the box. With all three subs having been used, Leverstock had a problem over the closing minutes as Durnin picked up a groin injury. Rather than go down to ten men, Durnin was moved up front with Carruthers taking his place in the back four. Three minutes into stoppage time the Green side broke away from a Halstead attack, and Rio Beach ran the ball down to the bye line before floating over a cross, which found none other than Durnin, who had made his way slowly from the halfway line to be in place to head home a third Leverstock goal from a yard out. It was a well deserved win for the Leverstock side, who played some excellent football throughout the afternoon and can now look forward to another home tie on Saturday 20th August.

Saturday 6th August 2022

There were further chances for Chris Blunden and Mooney on the hour which d idn’t go in, as the home support began to wonder whether their side would pay for their missed chances. The visitors had a chance to equalise on 63 minutes as Poku got on the end of a cross, but his shot was deflected wide by a great block from Luke Durnin. Leverstock had their best chance yet to double their lead when Nagheeb was brought down by a trip inside the box, and the referee awarded a penalty. Blunden stepped up to take the kick, and made no mistake, sending the keeper the wrong way to finally put Leverstock 2 0 up.

Leverstock Green (1) 3 (Mitchell Gears 20, Blunden 67 pen, Durnin 90+3)

It was Leverstock that were on top, though, with Nagheeb being denied by Halstead keeper Jack Cherry, who tipped his shot over the bar in the 30th minute. On 36 minutes a superb pass from Mitchell Gears put Luke Beckwith in behind the defence but he shot wide. In first half stoppage time Mitchell Gears just failed to get on the end of a cross from Alvin Kyeremeh. Leverstock went in at half time with a narrow 1 0 lead, which did not reflect how much they had been on top, but they continued to impress in the second half. On 50 minutes Mitchell Gears just failed to get on the end of another cross, this time from Ethan Mooney. Beckwith had a run at goal and shot wide on 53 minutes, and a minute later Carruthers hit a shot from the edge of the box that went inches over the bar.

Leverstock Green 3 Halstead Town 0

Leverstock went into the game with an unchanged starting line up from Tuesday night’s win, and the opening 15 minutes of the game was somewhat cagey with neither side creating a chance. However, the Green side made the breakthrough in the 20th minute with an excellent goal, as skipper Ibraham Nagheeb ran to the bye line and delivered a pin point cross to the far post, where George Mitchell Gears came in to head home his first competitive goal for the club.

The lead was almost doubled two minutes later as Ryan Carruthers hit a shot from distance that went over the bar. The visitors should have been level in the 28th minute when Calvin Poku seemingly had the goal at his mercy from close range, but shot over the bar when it looked easier to score.

Alan Lee Reporting FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round

Leverstock Green continued their perfect start to their competitive season with a second win and a second clean sheet. Fergus Moore’s side enjoyed a more comfortable than expected win over Essex Senior League side Halstead Town to progress into the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup, where they will be at home to fellow SSML Premier Division side St Panteleimon in two weeks time.

Leverstock killed the game off completely with Rio Beech breaking down the left wing and his cross was headed home at the back post by Luke Durnin to complete a comfortable win for the hosts.

Halstead came into the match after an opening day defeat at the hands of Barking and the starting eleven had a couple of changes with Matt Coppen and Adam Hampson in the starting eleven.

The Humbugs made their return to the FA Cup, after a year’s absence, with a first ever trip to Leverstock who ply their trade is the Spartan South Midlands league and are based in Hertfordshire and play at the quaintly named Pancake Lane.

Leverstock got the game underway and were kicking down the slight slope with the opening ten minutes providing plenty of endeavour but no real chances. The deadlock was broken on 20 minutes when the Tree’s got down the right flank and a superb ball from Ibrahim Nagheeb was headed home at the far post by George Mitchell-Gears, on balance of play probably deserved as the hosts were looking th e more threatening.

Halstead Town Match Report

It took until the half hour mark for Humbugs to have an effort on the hosts goal as Hampson got through 1 on 1 but fired over and then a Jack Schelvis free kick saw Jordan Palmer’s header go straight at the keeper. Nagheeb almost extended the hosts lead with a curling effort from 20 yards, which Jack Cherry touched over his bar as the hosts enjoyed a period of pressure on the visitors.

Luke Beckwith was the next to have a chance for the hosts but his effort, after a great cross field ball, went wide of the far post when he should have done better. Halstead were also grateful to a last minute intervention by Coppen as Mitchell Gears bore down on goal. That completed the action for the first half and the Tree’s went into the break with a deserved advantage. It was the hosts who started the second half the stronger and with just five minutes gone Mitchell Gears should have added to his and their tally, failing to get a touch on an in swinging cross, which would have been all it needed to turn it home. Halstead were struggling to get a foothold and again were lucky not to concede as they gave Ryan Carruthers too much time but his effort just cleared Cherry’s bar. Midway through the half it was still the hosts the most likely to score and after good work down the right Ethan Mooney shot over when well placed, albeit a difficult angle. Finally, Halstead had an effort on goal as Jordan Blackwell’s cross was volleyed goal wards by Jake Brown, but a desperate block meant the hosts only conceded a corner. It was a last minute block at the other end by Schelvis’ s head, which prevented Mitchell Gears effort ending in the back of the net. Halstead then had a penalty claim turned down and to add to their woes they then conceded a penalty as Nagheeb went over a defender’s leg . Chris Blunden stepped up and sent Cherry the wrong way to get the goal his game deserved Home substitute Lewis Collins was proving to be a danger down the right and having gone passed the defenders on the outside his effort flashed just wide of the far post as the home side showed no signs of settling for a two goal advantage. Halstead almost made the final 5 minutes of overtime interesting when Blackwell’s free kick was met by Coppen but his effort went just the wrong side of the upright.

The opening round of the FA Cup began with 20 SSML clubs dreaming of a day out under the arch (personally the twin towers was better), the draw brought about one all SSML tie and that served up a footballing feast as Leighton Town defeated visiting Baldock Town 9 2, the result was the hosts biggest FA Cup success while for the visitors it was their heaviest FA Cup defeat. Joining Leighton in the next round are eight other SSML clubs with another three facing midweek replays, Arlesey Town drawing 1 1 at Barton Rovers, Colney Heath gained a 1 1 draw at Hertford Town while Stotfold were held 2 2 at home against FA Vase winners Newport Pagnell Town. Shefford Town & Campton’s first ever FA Cup tie saw them host Stanway Rovers and they marked the occasion with a 4 1 success while St Panteleimon were another club to secure their first FA Cup success (albeit not their first excursion into the competition) as they won by the odd goal in three a t White Ensign. Other notable SSML successes came at Ardley United (3 2 at home against Wokingham & Emmbrook), the winner coming ten minutes into stoppage time and at Dunstable Town who defeated visiting Great Wakering Rovers 2 0 (more on this one later in the ramblings) while hosts Harpenden Town saw off last season’s SSML Premier Division champions New Salamis 2 1, the Harps coming from a goal behind at the interval along with their keeper saving a penalty to progress. Completing the SSML sides into the next round are Leverstock Green (3 0 winners at home against Halstead Town, Potton United 3 2 winners against Norwich United, the game played at Potton due to unavailability of the Norfolk sides pitch while Aylesbury Vale Dynamos gained revenge on last season’s defeat by Longlevens when winning 3 2 on the road. The remainder of Saturday’s ties brought about cup exits, as Crawley Green went down 1 2 at West Essex, Tring Athletic suffered a 1 3 defeat at Roman Glass St George while Risborough Rangers were beaten by a solitary goal at home by Holyport and it was a solitary goal defeat for

DIVISION ONE

COMMITTEE AWAYDAYS

SSML’s Division One kicked off the 2022-23 campaign on Saturday, the new season saw five clubs making their SSML debut and they enjoyed mixed emotions. Ampthill Town were the biggest winners with a 6 1 home success against Thame United Reserves while newbies Lutterworth Athletic certainly had a day to remember from their long haul to relegated Holmer Green, winning 5 1 to ensure the trip home had a party atmosphere. The biggest crowd, 273, saw Real Bedford FC (the new guise of Bedford) ease their way to a 3 0 win over visiting Rushden & Higham United while 176 watched new boys Moulton FC defeat visiting Buckingham Athletic 2 0. Wellingborough Whitworth, who missed out on promotion in the play off Final, suffered a narrow home defeat as Winslow United won by the odd goal in three while Amersham Town, who have been busy in the close season recruiting, overcame newbies Rugby Borough by the odd goal in five. Northampton Sileby Rangers edged out visiting London Tigers 2 1 and Letchworth Garden City Eagles opened their new campaign with a solid 3 0 home success against Burton Park Wanderers. The day’s other action saw Langford welcome another of the newbies, Eaton Socon, the game ending 1 1 while the last off the newbies Northampton ON Chenecks (relegated from Step 5) were beaten by a solitary goal at Raunds Town. Full results and goalscorers (where known) are listed below.

Cockfosters at Southend Manor. For both London Colney and Biggleswade United there were heavy defeats, Colney losing 0 5 at home to Witham Town (more on this one later in the ramblings) while United were beaten 0 4 at Gorleston, all the goals coming in the first half. Finally Sunday saw another SSML side exit as Hoddesdon Town were beaten by the odd goal in three at Edgware & Kingsbury. Full results and goalscorers (where known) are listed below.

On a day in which so many our clubs excelled, former London Colney star Ramiah Mills returned to Cotlandswick to haunt his former club, his wizardry on the ball setting up Isthmian League North side Witham Town for a crushing 5 0 win. The Mad Scot Bill Hamilton also saw Colney’s inability to defend corners lead to all sorts of trouble. Three of them from Witham’s wing back Liam Whipps resulted in goals, including two headers at the back post from Adam Vyse who went on to complete a hat trick. Centre back Joseph Alatise added the other two on a day when the young Colney side found themselves outfought and for the most part overrun. This is a game they will want to put firmly behind them as they resume their League campaign.

The Non League Show on Three Counties Radio (Herts, Beds & Bucks) has returned with a new day and time. It will air live between 12 2pm every Saturday. For those who missed it then you can catch up here:

SSMFL Board & Committee member Bob Flight was at Dunstable Town and pens the following report: The extra preliminary round of the FA Cup saw Dunstable Town entertain their step 4 visitors Great Wakering Rovers. In an entertaining, if a little feisty match, it was Town that deservedly won the game 2 0. In front of a crowd of 175 and on a perfectly green and well presented pitch it was Rovers who dominated the first 15 minutes. Indeed they were unlucky to see a long range shot hit the Town post and bounce safely away on only 5 minutes. Gradually Town got into the game and Kelvin Osei Addo had two good chances to score but the first was blocked and the second the keeper tipped round a post. However, he was not to be denied and on 36 minutes he converted a cross with a shot into the far corner of the Rovers net. Indeed it could have been better for Town if Kyle Faulkner had converted another good chance just before half time. Rovers did have a couple of chances of their own but a shot flew just wide and a goalmouth scramble saw the ball cleared off the Town goal line. Thus the half ended with Town in a narrow lead. The second half was more even with both teams having good chances and the Town keeper had to make a good save to keep the Rovers out. The Town goalscorer was substituted on 54 minutes with Remell Stirling taking his place. This proved an inspired move as Stirling just missed the goal with an early shot. He then got the important second goal for Town by slotting home a cross on 58 minutes. Rovers began to dominate the half as they desperately sought a goal. However, despite several near misses and some wasted chances they failed to breach the home defence. With time running out, Town had several opportunities to extend their lead and Stirling missed another good chance near the end. The game petered out with some time wasting and silliness from some players but Town fully deserved the win over a club from a higher League and can go through to the next round with confidence.

Tuesday night saw three SSML clubs involved in FA Cup Replays looking to progress, alas for two of them it was not to be. Toast of the night were Stotfold who travelled to FA Vase winners Newport Pagnell Town and came from a goal down at the break to stun the 329 crowd with two late goals to earn a home tie with Grays Athletic. For our other to clubs it was a case of cancelling that open bus tour in June as they both exited the competition, Arlesey Town went down 0 3 at home against Step 4 side Barton Rovers while Colney H eath suffered their heaviest FA Cup defeat as they were thumped 1 6 by visiting Step 4 side Hertford Town. Baldock Town 0 Leverstock Green

Alan Lee Reporting SSML Premier Division

Leverstock Green continued their remarkable start to the season as they made it three wins and three clean sheets from three competitive games. Two early goals were enough to claim the three points from Saturday’s trip to Baldock Town, in a game played in sweltering conditions with temperatures in the mid-30s. The only change to the previous game’s starting line-up was the return of skipper Dan Weeks to the side, in place of the injured Luke Durnin.

Ibrahim Nagheeb swung over a corner, and centre back Alvin Kyeremeh came in with a powerful header which found the net. Three minutes later the lead was doubled. George Mitchell Gears hit a shot from long range which home keeper David Archer could only parry away, and Chris Blunden followed in with a composed finish to net the rebound for a 2 0 Leverstock lead.

Mitchell-Gears hit another well-struck shot in the 16th minute, but this time Archer held onto the ball. The two teams took a well deserved drinks break midway through the half, and Baldock started to come back into the game. Ryan Carruthers cleared a header from a corner off the line in the 35th minute. Leverstock almost added a third in the 43rd minute as Nagheeb played a one two with Luke Beckwith and crossed to the far post, but Mitchell Gears headed wide. The half ended with the home side winning two corners in quick succession, but the Leverstock defence stood Thefirm. pace of the game continue to slow in the second half, and both sides used their full allocations of five substitutes. There was a good chance of a third Leverstock goal in the 61st minute as a pass from Mitchell Gears intended for Beckwith instead deflected into the path of Blunden, who was clean through, but his shot was saved by Archer. In the 73rd minute a free kick from Carruthers found Mitchell-Gears all alone at the far post, but he shot wide.

There was little threat to the Leverstock goal until the closing minutes. In the 87th minute Lawrence Ajong was clean through on goal, but Josh Mollison did well to save with his legs. In the 90th minute there was another one on one situation as Harrison Sollis was clean through, but shot wide of the target.

The Green side had made a good start to the game, and they took the lead in the 10th minute.

Leverstock were content to play out the five minutes of stoppage time with what they had, and they are now one of only three sides in the SSML Premier Division to have won both of their opening two games.

The London Colney Football Club was formed in 1907, playing at Whitehorse Lane until moving to its present ground at Cotlandswick, London Colney in 1976. The Club played in the Mid Herts League until the mid fifties, when it joined the Herts County League. The Club has enjoyed many successes over the years with the 1st team winning the Premier Division League 3 times between 1986 and 1990, and the reserves winning the Reserve Division 4 times between 1987 and 1992. In 1992 the Club moved to the South Midlands League where in the first season the 1st Team became runners up in the Senior Division and the Reserves won the Division 1 Reserves section. Further successes came between 1993 and 1998 with the 1st Team winning The O, Brian Butcher Challenge Cup, The Herts Charity Shield, The Herts Centenary Trophy, The Premier Division Cup, and gaining promotion to the Premier Division. The Reserves also did well during this time and in 1998 won The Reserves Challenge InTrophy.the1998/99 season, the South Midlands League amalgamated with the Spartan League to form the Minerva Spartan South Midlands League and London Colney finished 3rd in the Premier Division. The Blue Boys had the title within their grasp after a brilliant 11 match winning streak between October and December and they remained in the top two throughout the final weeks of the season only to be piped at the post on the final day of the season by Barkingside and Potters Bar Town. This disappointment was eased a few days later when they beat Hoddesdon Town 1-0 to win the Herts Charity Shield. The Reserves had a brilliant season winning the Reserve League and the reserved cup comfortably. This was also the year that The Spartan South Midlands League Management committee made first Team Manager Mick Wright Manager of the Year for the 1998/99 season. The 1999/2000 season saw Malcolm Doctor join Mick Wright as a joint manager of the 1st Team. They were finalists in both the Challenge Trophy and the Premier Division Cup only being beaten in penalty shoot outs in both matches. This year London Colney was once again a competitor in the FA Vase and reached the last sixteen losing 4 3 to Eccles Hill United who travelled from Yorkshire for the match.

The 2000/2001 season saw the 1st Team finishing runners up in the League. The reserves finished a creditable 6th in the reserve division. In the 2001/2002 season, London Colney saw its greatest successes yet with the 1st Team winning the League with a ten point difference as the highest in the league's history. We lost only two games; scored a massive 119 goals; had a goal difference of 87 after going unbeaten for the first 27 league games. We went top after just three games and maintained domination apart from a few days in December, won 28 of our 38 games, and provided the leagues leading scorer through Gary Sippetts who bagged an incredible 45 strikes. London Colney were also runners up in the Herts Senior Trophy, the only team in the league to ever reach that position, only narrowly losing to Borehamwood 3 2 in a very hard fought match. We also won the Challenge Trophy and were semi finalists in the Premier Division Cup. These achievements were rewarded with our Managers, Malcolm Doctor and Mick Wright being awarded the Managers of the Year Trophy.

London Colney FC 1907 - 2021

2004/05 saw Mick Wright stepping down as Manager leaving John Templeton in sole charge. After a very good start, when we won 7 league games in a row, we seemed to lose our way and finished a disappointing 11th in the league. However, we faired better in the Challenge Trophy and were finalists but were well beaten by Hillingdon Borough 4 1 on the night. The Reserves finished in the lower half of the table in the Reserve Division

The 2002/03 season what a difference a year makes whilst not expecting the same successes as the previous season the loss of many of our players to other clubs meant a disastrous start to the season. We then lost Malcolm Doctor who resigned early in the season. However thanks to John Templeton stepping into the breach to join Mick we managed to finish the season a creditable 6th in the league. Our reserves were an academy side and whilst their footballing skills were undisputed and they won the league and were finalists in the reserved cup, they contributed little to the well being and spirit of London Colney Football Club.

2007/2008 London Colney FC Centenary Year. Saw the club relegated from the Premier League for the first time we now start the next century of the club trying to get back to Premier SSMFL Premier status.

2006/2007 We started the season with a new management team but it was decided that for the long term good of the club we would have to part company with the new manager before the end of the season. The 1st team finished mid-table and had an early exit in all major cup competitions. In contrast, the Reserves, under the guidance of Manager Mark Tyrrell, had a brilliant season by winning the league on the last game of the season and also winning the Reserve Challenge Cup beating WGC Reserves from a division above. They were also the losing finalists in the Herts Intermediate Cup.

2008/2009 saw additional committee members joining a new management team of Julian Robinson as Manager with Frank Patrick as his assistant with most of the young squad retained with a couple of new faces to begin the season in Division One and begin a period of stability with steady consolidation of a club that had shared near past of turmoil with near extinction a possibility.

2009/10 After what seemed an endless season due to fixture congestion and the weather being so inclement the club had a tremendous campaign, albeit after the disappointment of losing out by 1 point for one of the promotion places leaving everyone at the club deflated for a while until we reflected on two cup final victories and one losing 9 10 on pens in the other. The first team with a third place finish in the MSSML Div One good cup runs in the FA and Vase competitions, the reserves having a tremendous season finishing second in Div Two, The A team won the Bingham Cup and finished runners up in the other cup final and finally the U18’s winning the league and cup double.

2005/06 season saw a new Management Team of Nigel Tester, Kevin Bland, and Vince Buck without much success with the 1st Team finishing 14th in the league but having a good FA Vase Cup run. The reserves finished third under the management of Mark Tyrell and Gary Barber.

2010/11 A management team of Dave Townsend and Frank Patrick were quickly invited into the hot seat following the departure of Julian Robinson to Tring Athletic to try and stabilize the club once more and push for honours, following early disappointing results the team was unable to reach the promotion spots to remain in the division although a Hertfordshire Charity Shield Final saw the Blueboys lose against Premier side Leverstock Green.

2003/04 season saw several of our players returning to the club and with an optimistic outlook and a great deal of enthusiasm. The first team management remained the same with Mick Wright and John Templeton at the helm. The reserves have reverted to a normal club side with Ray Flanagan and Alan Connell in charge. The first team finished 6th in the league and were finalists in the Challenge Trophy losing to Brook House on penalties after extra time. The reserves finished in the bottom half of the reserve division, which was commendable as it was the first season with Ray and Alan in charge.

2011/12 Following the disappointment of staying in Division One a new management team of Ryan Thompson, Chris Day, and Tony Kavanagh were brought in to bring fresh impetus into the club after Dave

Townsend stepped down to become a reserve team manager due to his heavy work commitments together with his impending marriage. The season went from strength to strength with promotion to the premier division gained by a record 15 points with top scorer Matty Newman hitting the 50 goal mark over all competitions, with the young reserve side finishing a creditable mid table.

Season 2012/13 saw the side finish 7th in the Spartan Midlands League Premier Division consolidating the improvement under Ryan Thompson's guidance this after a season of unprecedented injuries leaving the squad sadly depleted of up to 10 first team players for most of the season.

Season 2016/17 saw the club bring in Joe Sweeney and his team from Chesham. An excellent start to the season meant that the Blueboys went straight to the top of the table, and remained there until the end of the season becoming the Spartan Premier Division champions. The Reserve team also won the Suburban league table to make it a double to remember. The powers that be decided to refuse promotion to the Ryman’s League Division 1 which meant 2nd place Hertford Town gained promotion instead. Manager Joe Sweeney and almost all the promotion winning squad left the club after this decision for pastures new. The board also decided they no longer wanted to carry on running the club so unless a new board could be found quickly the club would fold with immediate effect.

Season 2013/14 Saw the side again finish 7th in the Spartan Midlands League Premier Division in what would be Ryan Thompsons last season as manager. After a slow start, the team had a good middle and end to the campaign climbing up the table in the process. Matt Newman also departed scoring 32 goals in his final season with the Blueboys, backed up well by Martin Collins with 17 goals.

Season 2017/18 saw a new consortium headed up by Chairman Gareth Davies along with former Peterborough, Watford and Birm ingham centre forward Ken Charlery agreeing to become the new custodians of the club which was perilously close to folding.

The season started brightly with the Blueboys top of the league after the first 6 games which were a remarkable achievement considering the club had no players with less than 4 weeks to go until the season started. With a very young inexperienced squad (no less than nine under 19s) the early pace could not be maintained and the club finished the season in 13th place while also reaching the semi final of the League cup before going out to Risborough Rangers.

Season 2014/15 had seen the start of a new era with Jim Nicholls and his coaching staff at the helm. However, due to work commitments, Jim became Chairman and Ryan Thompson came back as first team manager. The club went on a remarkable unbeaten streak during the second half of the season, narrowly missing out on the title by finishing second to Kings Langley.

EJA Peter Peters Cup Final

The goal came in the 30th minute, as Georgiou got on the end of a free kick with a looping header that came down off the bar. A defender tried to clear off the line but the linesman flagged to indicate that the ball had crossed the line.

Wednesday 11th May vs. Welwyn Garden City

There was almost a second goal five minutes into the second half when Sadler hit a fierce shot from distance, which the keeper did well to tip over the bar. However, over the last half-hour of the game the long season started to take its toll on the Leverstock side, as they looked out on their feet. The side had to dig very deep under constant pressure from the Welwyn side, which had a couple of agonising near misses. Green keeper Freddie Burroughs was very impressive, often having to come off his line to thwart breakaways from the Welwyn side.

A long period of stoppage time saw several Leverstock players go down suffering with cramp, but they held out until the end to claim a well deserved trophy at the end of a season where they were just piped by Berkhamsted to the U15 Brown Division title.

There were early chances for the Green side, with Joe Sadler’s free kick bringing a great save out of the WGC keeper on 12 minutes, and Shay Kelly heading over the bar from the resulting corner. In the 16th minute Lucas Georgiou set up a chance for Josh Weidner, but he shot wide.

The Under-15s ended their season with a deserved trophy as they lifted the EJA Peter Peters Cup on Wednesday night.

The Leverstock side earned the trophy with a hard fought 1 0 win over Welwyn Garden City U15 in Wednesday night’s final played at Ware F.C.

Leverstock Green Football Club would like to thank the Vice Presidents for their help and assistance pledged for last season. Colin Bull, Peter Dennis, Jim Doble, Peter Frasier, Roger Stokes As in previous seasons the donations made by our Vice Presidents have assisted us in providing many improvements. Would you like to join, £25 will secure your place. VICE PRESIDENTS CLUB 2022 -23 Step 5 and Step 6 Promotion and Relegation Changes have been made to the promotion and relegation guidelines given in the summer for Step 5 of the FA’s National League System. This is due to vacancies that have arisen in the NLS for a variety of reasons. At Step 4, the 8 Clubs finishing 4th bottom and 2 clubs ending 3rd bottom with the highest PPG now do not have to take part in the Inter Step Play Offs. This leaves 6 eligible Step 4 Clubs for the Play-Offs and 16 eligible 2nd placed Clubs at Step 5. As a result, the Clubs finishing in 2nd position at Step 5 are ranked on PPG with the 10 highest being automatically promoted. The 6 remaining Step 4 Clubs and 6 remaining Step 5 Clubs are placed into geographical groupings and paired by PPG as per the Play Off Criteria 12 Clubs finishing in the bottom two across Step 5 will now be reprieved from relegation ranked on PPG. It has to be noted that the above situation is the current position and could change if the Committee feels there is a valid reason in the best interest of the NLS.
