We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it.
For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough.
When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments:
• Players will be removed from play and suspended.
• Teams can have points deducted.
• Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders.
Together we can end hate in football.
Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs.
We want everyone across grassroots football to know...
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TELL US, WE’LL TACKLE IT.

Leverstock Green collected a battling point against Cockfosters at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium on Saturday. After a dubious red card left them with ten men for over 70 minutes, the Green side dug in and defended well, and had the game’s two best chances. It was a third straight clean sheet for Leverstock in five days.
Leverstock were already without leading scorer Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica, who was serving a one-game suspension after his red card at Real Bedford last Saturday. In the opening minutes of the game Dan Pett appeared to receive an elbow from Harrison Rookard in full view of the referee, but he got nothing more than a talking to. However, in the 17th minute when Guiseppe Delgaudio reacted to provocation from Jay Lovell, who went down clutching his face, the referee showed a straight red card to reduce Leverstock to ten men in what was considered by everyone else in the ground as a very harsh decision.
In a game of few chances, Leverstock had a good one in the 24th minute when a pass from Pett put Luke Beckwith through, but he shot into the side netting from a narrow angle. Cockfosters were finally shown a yellow card in the 41st minute, although the wrong player received the card, and at the same time Josh Dooley was sent to the sin-bin to reduce Leverstock to nine men. Despite their numerical disadvantage, Leverstock came closest to scoring in first half stoppage time when Pett hit a superb shot which visiting keeper Tiernan Parker did well to turn round the post.
The second half saw Leverstock defending against the slope. Cockfosters had little to offer as an attacking threat other than long throws, and the Green side defended them well, with Ryan Carruthers in particular giving a man -of-the-match performance. A low shot from Ethan Rookard on 51 minutes brought a good save out of Liam Gauthier, but otherwise there was little danger of a goal at either end during the half.
Leverstock are still well-placed in third in the SSML Premier Division, and they face a tough trip to in-form Tring Athletic on Tuesday night.

Leverstock Green are through to the quarterfinals of the Gladwish Challenge Trophy after a 2-1 win over Division One leaders Northampton ON Chenecks. A goal from Dan Pett put Leverstock 1-0 up in the 21st minute, and although the visitors equalised in the 57th minute, a late penalty from Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica put the Green side through to an away tie at Codicote in the quarterfinals.

KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd).
After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.
If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home.
Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible.
We thank you for all your support.
In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come.
Jane Bateman, Head of International Relations, The Football AssociationTring Athletic Youth FC was formed in March 1958 by a group of local men who contributed towards the purchase of 3.4 acres at Miswell Lane. The cost of providing changing rooms, fencing, equipment and ownership of the ground was approximately £2,000, a lot of money in those days. Committee members, players and friends carried out most of the work, including the building of the changing rooms and during the early days the team had to play on another pitch in Tring. Originally the Club was formed to provide football for youngsters aged under 21 and despite playing against adult teams we won many trophies in the West Herts Saturday League during the early 1960's including the Division 1 title 3 times in 5 years.
We then went through a lean spell and in 1971 decided to scrap the upper age limit and drop youth from our name. Many former players returned and we had another successful period during the early 1970's. Over the years many fine players appeared in our shirts and many went on to play for professional/senior clubs.
In the mid-seventies the Miswell Lane ground was sold to the Council and we had a bad time and but for the efforts of a few loyal members would have certainly folded. The Reserves were disbanded and the First Team dropped down to Division 3. We decided to turn to youth again and gradually forced our way back up through the league and by 1986 we were competing in the Premier Division and running a Reserve side again.
In 1988 we joined the South Midlands and as a result gained senior status with the Herts FA. In 1989 we entered into a 3 year ground sharing arrangement with Isthmian League side Tring Town moving back to Miswell Lane in 1992 where the Reserves had continued to play. We established ourselves in the South Midlands by gaining promotion to the newly formed Senior Division in 1993. In 1994/95 the First Team reached the final of the Senior Division Cup whilst the Reserves were finalists in the Apsley Junior Cup for the second year running.
In 1996/97 we led the Senior Division throughout the season and looked favourites to win the title. However, some unlucky defeats in the last few games saw us drop down to 3rd place. In addition to our impressive league form we also had some terrific cup runs during that season. In 1997/98 we just missed out on the Senior Division title by the narrowest of margins to New Bradwell St Peter - a goal difference of just 2! We finished the season in fine style, suffering just 1 defeat in our last 21 league games. The Reserves went one better by winning their league by a clear 10 points and in doing so achieved 100% success in their league games at home.
In 1998/99 we picked up our first major South Midlands trophy when we won the Senior Division Cup. We also won the St Marys Cup for the 2nd time in 3 years. In the league a terrific run of just 1 defeat in our last 28 games saw us finish in 3rd place. During this magnificent run we went 15 hours without conceding a goal. The 1999/2000 season proved to be one to remember. During the summer we spent over £50k on building new changing rooms and extending the social and bar area. To mark the opening of the new changing rooms we played a Watford XI in front of a huge crowd of about 1,000 people. The game was refereed by Graham Poll and Graham Barber. The season turned out to be the most successful in the Club's history. In addition to winning the Senior Division title by 11 points we also reached 5 finals.
We won the Herts Charity Shield, Herts Senior Centenary Trophy and the Cherry Red Books Trophy in its inaugural year. We were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Letchworth in the Senior Division Cup. Our achievements were recognised by the South Midlands who awarded us the Houghton Regis Cup for achievements in outside competitions and Mick Eldridge, Ray Brimson and Richard Vincent were voted Managers of the Season. In 60 games in all competitions we lost on only 6 occasions.
After finishing the old millennium in style we continued our success into the new one (2000/01) by retaining the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy and the Cherry Red Books Trophy. The Reserves won the League title and a newly formed B Team claimed the runners-up spot. The following season (2001/02) we won the Herts Charity Shield for the 2nd time.
SEASON 2002/03 - More success followed as we capture the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy for the 3rd time, to become the first club to do so. We finished 3rd in the table and won the League Cup for the 2nd time, to make 12 major trophies in 7 years. We were also finalists in the Cherry Red Books Trophy. The A Team finished runners up as did the Under 16's in their first season, the B Team won the sporting award for the 2nd year running and the Ladies had a great run in the Women's FA Cup. For the 3rd year running Darrel Bodimeade won an award for the best playing surface, which is just reward for the tremendous job he continues to do for the club.
SEASON 2003/04 - Following our failure to secure floodlights at Miswell Lane we entered into an historic alliance with Tring Town to play our first and reserve team football in season 2004/05 at Pendley where lights were already in place. The main focus was to be to raise the funds needed to build a new Clubhouse, the previous building burnt down in March 2003.
SEASON 2004/05 - New season at a new ground in a new division with fantastic facilities. First team finished 6th in the Premier Division and also won the St Mary's Cup for the 3rd time defeating Hemel Hempstead in the Final. We were also Runners Up in the South Midlands Floodlit Cup Final losing on penalties to Oxhey Jets. Played in the F A Vase for the first time.
SEASON 2005/6 - The Club entered the F A Cup for the 1st time in its history but was defeated in the prelim round. In a disappointing season the highlight was a victory over Watford in the Herts Senior Trophy with a large crowd enjoying a 1-0 win. Defeat in this competition came at the hands of Stevenage Borough of the Conference league.
SEASON 2007/8 - Winners of Herts Charity Shield - We defeated Weylwn Garden City in the final of this County Cup to win the trophy for the 3rd time in our history. This was the first trophy for the new management team of Manager, Phil Casserley, Assistant, Terry Nightingale and Coach Julian Robinson.
SEASON 2008/9 - Treble Winners - SSMFL Challenge Trophy Winners - Athletic defeated Chalfont St Peter at Harefield United's ground to lift this trophy in their first appearance in the final of this competition. SSMFL Premier Division Cup Winners - Athletic defeated St Margaretsbury to lift this trophy in their first appearance in the final. St Marys Cup Winners - Athletic defeated Leverstock Green to lift this trophy for the 4th time.
SEASON 2009/10 - The First Team finished without a trophy however they finished third in the league, the highest position in the Club's history.
SEASON 2010/11 - The First team finished in the highest position, runners up to Chalfont St Peter in the SSMFL Premier Division. They also won the St. Mary's Cup for the fifth time, defeating Leverstock Green 2-1 after extra time. The season finished with a 2-0 defeat to Royston Town in the South Midland Floodlight Cup Final.
SEASON 2011/12 - Julian Robinson and Tony Armitage took charge in the summer of 2011 knowing that many of last year’s successful First Team had departed. A great re-building job was undertaken with a very credible 6th position achieved in the league and defeats by the odd goal in 3 cup semi-finals.
SEASON 2012/13 - Mixed season with the 1st team winning their initial FA Cup tie at Bedfont and then losing in the next round to Ashford Town after a replay. In the League we finished just below halfway, lost on penalties to Hadley in the semi-final of the Premier Division Cup and were finalists in the St Mary's Cup losing to local rivals Berkhamsted. Midway through the season Tony Armitage left and Ian Richardson stepped up from the Reserves to assist Julian Robinson. Long serving, Stuart Stedman, was appointed coach to assist Colin Phillips with the Reserves who again had an excellent year bringing many players through to the First team.
SEASON 2015/16 - The First Team won the St Mary's Cup for the 5th time defeating Sun Sports and finished midtable in the SSMFL Premier Division. The Reserves did the "double by winning the Suburban Football League North Division and also the Challenge Plate Competition.
SEASO 2016/17: First team won the St Mary's Cup, were finalists in the Herts Charity Shield, 5th position SSMFL Premier Division and reached the 4th round of the F A Vase. Reserves were finalists in the Suburban Football League Challenge Trophy.
SEASON 2017/18: The First Team reached the last 16 of the F A Vase for the first time losing unluckily to Melksham Town in front of a crowd of 1,236. The "A" Team set a Club record winning the West Herts Premier League and Cup double and only losing one game that being the final of the Herts Junior Cup.
SEASON 2018/19: The First Team were Runners Up in SSMFL Premier Division, equalling our best ever position. The Reserves were Suburban Football League Central Division Champions and the "A" Team were Herts Junior Cup Winners and West Herts Senior Cup Finalists.
SEASON 2019/20. Massive change at the club with long serving manager Kevin Richardson standing down and 14 from the previous year’s successful squad moving on to other clubs. Kevin Christou took over the reins for six months, replaced by Chris Juraszek, who had run our reserve team for several years. Chris’ remit was to return the club to its traditional values of operating prudently and developing local talent, which he did. In a season truncated due to covid we finish second.
SEASON 2020/21. A season decimated due to the covid pandemic, playing in fits and starts and behind closed doors until finally the league took the decision to cancel the competition.
SEASON 2021/22. We began this season with a new management team, headed by Ryan Sturges and Lee Groves, both former players at the Club. The covid pandemic provided us with the opportunity to complete a number of behind-the-scenes projects including installing new floodlights and re-furbishing the clubhouse. We had an understandably slow start to the season on the playing side but kicked on massively from the turn of the year. Our victory in the Premier Division Cup Final was just reward for the players and for the behind the sense group.
SEASON 2022/23. We finish ninth in the league, whilst the highlight of the season was our unprecedented run in the FA Vase competition, losing only narrowly in the fifth round to Bury AFC.
SEASON 2023/24. We have lofty ambitions of a top 5 finish and a shot at the new play off arrangements for promotion to Step 4. We shall see!
Colin Phillips returns to the club to run our U23 side and we show our commitment to you and to pathway football by fielding three U18 sides and one U16 side.

On a very wet Tuesday night in Tring, Leverstock Green came away with a well-earned point. Although Leverstock had the game’s better chances and will feel they should have won the game, a point was a decent result against a Tring side that have been in good form recently and in conditions that were becoming near-farcical by the end.
After a dry few days, the rain started a couple of hours before kick-off, but the referee was happy to start the game after some areas were forked. Leverstock made a bright start to the game and could have taken an early lead. In the 7th minute a shot from Luke Beckwith was turned round the post by Tring keeper Josh Allen. From the resulting corner Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica got his head to the ball, but Allen produced another great save to tip it over the bar. The Leverstock pressure continued as Callum Neal hit a shot from the edge of the box that went just over the angle of post and bar. Neal was close again in the 17th minute with a shot from another corner that went just wide.
With Leverstock not having turned their early promise into goals, they were vulnerable to a goal against the run of play, and so it proved in the 21st minute. Godlove Oppong got on the end of a corner with an effort that seemed to bounce up and over the reach of Liam Gauthier, although there were protests that Gauthier was being impeded as he tried to reach for the ball.
Leverstock continued to put pressure on the Tring goal, but they were denied again by Allen in the 35th minute as he turned a shot from Guiseppe Delgaudio round the post. However, two minutes later Ryan Carruthers delivered a superb cross from distance into the box, and Delgaudio got on the end of it with a thunderous header to level the scores at 1-1 against his former club.
Gauthier produced a good save late in the half to turn a shot from Harry Shepherd round the post and send the teams into the break on level terms.
The rain did not relent, and indeed became ever heavier during the second half. With conditions becoming increasingly difficult underfoot, chances were few and far between at both ends, but Leverstock were still able to put together some impressive passages of play. In the 63rd minute Delgaudio went close again with a header from Neal’s cross that went just wide. At the other end Tring threatened occasionally, but their threat was well-handled by the Leverstock defence and the sure hands of Gauthier when he was called into action.
By the end of the game there were sticky patches all over the pitch and spray coming up every time the ball hit the ground. However, Leverstock almost won it in the 89th minute with a moment of quality from Carruthers, who hit a low shot from distance which was goal bound, but Allen just got a hand to it to turn it round the post. It would have been tough on either side to lose the game at the death, and the draw was a fair result in the end.

Man of Match vs Crawley Green was Ethan Mooney with Deck Chair Pete
Leverstock Green kept their playoff hopes on track with a 3-1 win at Crawley Green in Saturday’s SSML Premier Division fixture. It wasn’t pretty, but it was another crucial three points in the bag.
With St Panteleimon having suddenly withdrawn from the league this week, and their results being expunged from the table, Leverstock found themselves four points down from where they were a few days ago, losing more points than any other club in playoff contention. Leverstock were also without a striker for this game, with Rawn Seale away and Guiseppe Delgaudio starting a three-game suspension. The hugely influential Dan Pett was also unavailable today.
Leverstock had a chance in the opening thirty seconds of the game, with Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica crossing to find Luke Beckwith, but his header went wide of the target. Leverstock had much the better of possession during the early stages but were unable to create much from it. Stefanoaica was through on goal from a long kick by Josh Bowler but chose to cut back and square the ball for Ethan Mooney, but his pass was overhit.
It took until the 38th minute for Leverstock to finally make the deserved breakthrough. Ademide Baruwa did well on the left touchline to set up a shot for Rio Beach, which was blocked across goal. Callum Neal laid the ball back for Stefanoaica, who finished with a superb shot into the top corner.
There was an even better goal to come in first half stoppage time as Baruwa played the ball to Mooney, with his back to goal on the edge of the penalty area. Mooney ran along the edge of the area before unleashing a fantastic strike into the top corner which gave former Leverstock keeper Adi Connolly no chance and sent Leverstock into the break with a healthy 2-0 lead.
There was a change at half time, with Stefanoaica being replaced by Lewis Collins. In the 56th minute a pass from Mooney put Collins clear of the defence, but his attempt to square to Beckwith was cut out by Connolly. Leverstock were still looking comfortable with a two-goal lead until the 60th minute when that lead was reduced. A poor challenge from Josh Dooley just outside the box earned the Leverstock defender a yellow card and gave Crawley a free kick in a dangerous position. Harry Peterson’s free kick eluded the Leverstock wall and ended up nestling in the bottom corner of Bowler’s net.
There was a chance for Leverstock to re-establish their two-goal lead in the 67th minute as Collins played a neat one-two with Mooney and went clean through, but his shot was turned round the post by Connolly. In the 80th minute Nat Connolly almost struck his first goal for the club with a shot from the edge of the box that was goal bound, but defender Paolo Deritis slid in to deflect it over the bar. Finally, in the 85th minute Collins played in an out swinging corner and Callum Neal came in with a thumping diving header to make it 3-1 and give Leverstock some breathing space over the final minutes.

The Clubs finishing in the bottom two places in each of the eight divisions at Step 4 at the end of the Regular Season will be relegated and placed in a feeder pool and placed in the most geographically appropriate division at Step 5 for the following Playing Season.
Clubs relegated for finishing in the bottom two places in each of the eight divisions at Step 4 will be replaced by the Clubs finishing in 1st position in each of the sixteen divisions at Step 5 together with a further 16 Clubs (one Club from each of the sixteen divisions at Step 5) determined by a series of Play Off Matches.
Where a Club finishes in 1st position but does not meet the minimum criteria for promotion to the next Step (which shall include being awarded a Grade 5 following an independent ground grading inspection), the Club finishing in 2nd position shall be promot ed and the Club finishing in 3rd position (and so on) shall be the Club in the next eligible position to take part in the Play Off Matches. Where a Club finishes in a Play Off Position but does not meet the Criteria for participation in Play Off Matches, the Club finishing in the next eligible position shall take part in the Play Off Matches.
In each division at Step 5, the Play Off Matches shall be played so that the highest placed of the eligible Clubs plays against the lowest placed of the eligible Clubs and the other two eligible Clubs play each other. The ties will be played on a single match basis with the home Club being the Club with the best points per match ratio in the Regular Season. If there are only three eligible Clubs, then the highest placed eligible Club shall receive a bye and play the winner of the other Play Off Match, and the winner of that match will be promoted. Clubs finishing below 7th position will not be eligible to take part in Play Off Matches.
The promoted Clubs will be placed in a feeder pool and placed in the most geographically appropriate division at Step 4 for the following Playing Season. In addition, a Club promoted to Step 4 shall comply with the Licencing System provision as set out in Appendix 1 to the Standardised Rules.
Currently the Play Off’s look like.

Leverstock Green Development moved up to 11th in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division with a well-earned draw away to high-flying Hertford Heath on Wednesday night. Leverstock led 2-0 at half time through two goals from Jayden Newman, on his way back from injury. The home side came back to level the scores during the second half, although Leverstock hit the post and bar during the half.
Leverstock Green Development were beaten for the first time in ten games in Saturday afternoon’s Herts Senior County League Premier Division game. George Mitchell-Gears put the Leverstock side 1-0 up early on, but visitors Lemsford came back to win 3 -1.
Leverstock Green Development continued their excellent form as they travelled to Buntingford Town for a Herts Senior County League Premier Division fixture and came back with a 4-1 win. It was the side’s seventh win in a nine-game unbeaten run. Callum Moore scored twice, with Jamie McIntosh and Ethan Horwood also finding the net.
The Under-18s were beaten 2-1 at Berkhamsted in Monday night’s SCFYL Corinthian Division game. Luc Dischamps put Leverstock into the lead in the 5th minute, but the home side had a 2 -1 lead by half time, which they retained during the second half.
After a month without a game due to the weather problems, Leverstock Green’s under-18s returned to action with a big win on Thursday night.
Visitors Buckingham F.C. are bottom of the league without a point, and when James Renton scored an early goal, it looked like a routine win was likely. However, Buckingham soon equalised, and did so again after Luc Dischamps had put Leverstock back in front. The score was still 2-2 at half time, but in the second half Leverstock took over and scored four unanswere d goals by Dischamps, Shay Kelly from the penalty pot, Kaashan Darr and Elijah Acheampong.
A second half goal from Oscar Martin earned a point for Leverstock Green U18 against Leighton Town U18 in Thursday night’s SCFYL Corinthian Division game at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium. Leighton had taken the lead in the 9th minute, but Martin’s 55th minute goal levelled the scores.

Leverstock Green FC was formed around 1895. The first match reports appeared on January 4th 1896 in the Advertiser and gave an account of a match against Hemel Hempstead Rovers.
The first competitive fixtures were reported during season 1908/1909 when the Club competed in Division Three of the West Herts League. Other clubs competing in the league at that time were: Abbots Langley, Bovingdon, Boxmoor, Bushey Heath, Hagden Lane, Ki ngs Langley and Potten End.
The Club ground in Pancake Lane originally formed part of the Gorhambury Estate, Lord Verulam making the ground available for the youth of the area and his estate workers to enjoy a game of ball. Clearly Lord Verulam was an early enthusiast, providing timb er-built changing rooms, which have been progressively replaced since the 1960s by the existing brick-built clubhouse and changing rooms.
On the death of the Lord, certain parcels of land, including that on which the Football Club stood, fell to the Crown in lieu of death duties and is administered on its behalf by the Commission for New Towns, who have remained the Clubs landlords since that time, despite two unsuccessful attempts by the Club to buy the freehold.
Leverstock Green FC remained members of the West Herts League until 1954 when it broadened its horizons and successfully applied to join the Herts County League.
By the mid 1970s the Club started to move forward with a new clubhouse, post & rail, and the installation of training lights.
The playing side of the club also improved and in 1979 the club won Division One of the Herts County League and were promoted to the Premier Division – the highest standard the Club had achieved in 80 years.
In 1991 Leverstock Green FC were accepted into the South Midlands League and had two highly successful seasons in the Premier Division before being forced to drop into the Senior Division, as floodlights were then not available. In 1996 the club finished in runners-up position and the following season were the divisional champions but could not be promoted because floodlights had still not received approval from the Council.
Premier Division status was eventually regained in 2003, and the club is now the longest-standing current member of the division. The club’s highest finish in the Premier Division has been 4th, in season 2010/11, with top six finishes also being recorded in 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2008/09.
Season 2010/11 also saw the club’s best ever run in the FA Vase, with wins over Welwyn Garden City, Enfield, Hullbridge Sports, Tunbridge Wells and Bemerton Heath Harlequins before defeat in the Fifth Round against Rye United. The club has twice reached the Third Round of the FA Vase, in seasons 2006/07 and 2018/19.
Leverstock Green FC entered the FA Cup for the first time in 2004, and the club’s best performance has been reaching the Second Round Qualifying, which was achieved in 2014/15, where we were beaten by Staines Town, and in 2018/19 where we were beaten by Dorking Wanderers.
County honours were won in 2006/07 and 2010/11 as the Herts Charity Shield was lifted, and the club were beaten finalists in the Herts Charity Cup in 2011/12. After finishing runners-up four times over the previous 12 years, The West Herts FA St Mary’s Cup was finally lifted for the first time in 2017/18 with victory over Berkhamsted in the final at Vauxhall Road.
Between 2005 and 2015 the club ran a successful Ladies’ Team, which rose from the Beds and Herts League into the Eastern Region Womens League, reaching the Premier Division in 2013.
The under-18 side competes in the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth League. The team finished runners-up in their division in seasons 2010/11 and 2014/15, and in 2015/16 they reached the final of both the Brian Hitchings Cup and the Colwyn Cup, losing in both finals to Luton Town Cedars. Many players have made the step up from under-18 level to first team level, and those who have gone on to play much higher up the non-league pyramid include Charlie Gorman (Eastbourne Borough), Luke Warner-Eley (Royston Town, St Albans City) and Jonathan Lacey (Hemel Hempstead Town) who also represented the England non-league side in the Falklands while a Leverstock Green player.
The Pancake Lane ground has seen many improvements due to ever more stringent ground grading requirements. In 2007 the Peter Metcalfe changing rooms were built at a cost of £90,000. 2008 saw the refurbishment of the clubhouse to include new toilets and a new hospitality suite. In 2009 the concrete walkway was completed to cover three sides of the ground and a seated stand accommodating 113 spectators was installed.
Season 2018/19 was one of turmoil and sadness, as long-serving fixture secretary Graham Smart passed away suddenly only weeks after taking on the role of interim chairman. A season which promised so much at the start ended with the club only securing Premier Division safety on the final day.
Emma Smart took over as chairman for season 2019/20, and with a new management team and a new spirit of optimism the club was on course for a safe mid-table finish before the season was
brought to a premature end by Covid-19. The management team of Matt Harding and Mick Vipond continued into the 2020/21 season, which again came to a premature end.
For season 2021/22, a new management team of Fergus Moore, Scott McGleish and Paul Marks was appointed. Fergus and Scott continued through season 2022/23 and won their first silverware for the club with a 1-0 win over Tring Athletic in the final of the West Herts St Mary’s Cup.
Fergus and Scott are joined by former Under-18 manager Ross Bargent for season 2023/24, and the club has also started a Development Team this season, which will be playing in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division.
Four club stalwarts have received awards from the Football Association and the Herts FA for 50 years’ service to football. The first was Jim Matthews, affectionately known as “Macca”, who passed away at the age of 90 in 2006. The second was Bill Dawes in 2014, and the third was longserving club secretary Brian Barter in 2019. Brian stood down from his role as secretary in 2020, having twice been honoured with awards from the Spartan South Midlands League. The fourth to receive the award was vice-chairman and treasurer Tony Smart in 2023.
