We're targeting discrimination in football. Can you help?
We are taking a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination in football. We’re calling on clubs and leagues like your own to report hate, prejudice or discrimination whenever you see it or hear it. For those people who behave in a racist, sexist or homophobic way, the message is clear. Enough is Enough. When we know it has happened, we can take the actions needed to remove discriminatory behaviour. We'll be doing so through a range of punishments: • Players will be removed from play and suspended. • Teams can have points deducted. • Grounds can be closed for repeat offenders. Together we can end hate in football. Spread the word that discrimination of all forms will be punished. Share with your welfare officers, league and club officials, and everyone across your league and clubs. We want everyone across grassroots football to know...
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. TELL US, WE’LL TACKLE IT.

Chairmans report – Christmas 2023 Season 23/24 seemed to start in a flash this year after finishing the previous quite late due to our success in the St Mary’s Cup. The first half of this season has been very difficult off the pitch but, on the pitch, we have been lucky to witness some great football. Before I talk about football, I must mention the tough start to September that everyone at the club had to go through. The worst thing happened when we sadly lost Dean Bradford, our club Secretary, very suddenly. Whilst arriving at an away game in Shefford, I was told the devastating news about Dean, and this turned out to be one of the hardest days as my role as Chairman but also as Dean’s friend. The club came together during this tough time for each other but also for Dean’s family. Dean we will remember you fondly and you will always be in our hearts.
On the Pitch For the first time in 7/8 seasons the club decided to run a Development side for this season, allowing players to take the step from the Under 18s into the men’s game and then into the first team. This was a new venture for many of us but was going to be exciting as we started the new season. The first team started training early as normal and pushed on into Pre-Season games. A lot of old faces were back, and we welcomed a few new ones also. Pre-season went well with 5 out of 7 wins and scoring quite a few goals made us look very much forward to the start of the season. The lads had a mix bag from August to October, winning just as many games as we lost, with a little visit to Walthamstow in the FA where we were very unlucky not to win, although the scoreline would suggest different. Middle of October rolls round and we push on with 6 games unbeaten only to fall at the hurdle against Harpenden. Next up we faced a difficult couple of games against a very good MK Irish and a hardworking physical FC Romania, coming out with 4 points out of the 6 available. The weather has since got the better of us but as Christmas rolls around, we have some very local games to look out including Dunstable, Colney Heath, Crawley Green and Tring Athletic. The First team are currently sitting in a very respectable 4th place for the first half of the season which keeps us all very excited for the next 4 months ahead. The Development Team stepped straight into the Herts County league Premier Division for their first season at Leverstock. A big step but one we all grabbed with both hands. It’s been a very up and down start to the season for the lads and the management team, as we unfortunately had to make a change in management mid-way through as we bought in the new management team of Andy Murray and Steve Newing. The Development teams’ results have been varied over the first half of the season, but they have been able to show their abilities. We’ve played very well against some of the top sides, just narrowly losing out to Belstone just before Christmas in a 2-1 defeat and winning important games to hopefully keep pushing us above that line. I’m excited to see what this team builds on for the remainder of the season. The Under 18’s have also had a very varied start to the season with results not showing the effort and abilities that this group of players have between them. We started this season with a new Management team in Aaron, Dan Renton and Dan Sadler which introduced players from last season’s EJA U16 team and some remaining players from the season before. A highlight for all the lads I’m sure was the brilliant away win at Barnet which was so well deserved with the performance of the season so far. They are such a great bunch of players and I’m very much looking forward to seeing the second half of the season and seeing where these lads will end up.
Off the Pitch Off the pitch work is never ending as normal and this year was no different. We worked hard to finish some summer jobs around the club and the grounds team worked incredibly hard to get the pitch ready in a very short space of time. We started off the season in the same way as we left last with regards to the Officers and welcomed a few new faces to the committee, making the committee the largest it has been in about 7 years. It’s a pleasure to welcome new committee members and allow them to see why we all do what we do. A thank you to Lords again for signing up for another season with us as our main club Sponsor, providing all the kits for the first team and under 18s. We also welcomed Condell’s who come on as the Sponsors for the Development Team, thank you again for all your support. A huge thank you to all the sponsors that have come on board this year with board signs, donations, and package deals, we are so grateful for your support. A massive thank you to the Management teams, Players, Officers and Committee members for their hard work and effort as always, allowing the club to push forward in the way we all believe it can. The Supporters for watching us in the sunshine, cold, wind and rain and supporting all the teams equally. The Bar and Tea Bar staff for all your hard work and to the backroom staff, I thank you. I’m very excited to see the remainder of this season with opportunities for Leverstock to progress further than before, changes going on to the facilities and changes in the backroom staff, stay with us as we all go through these exciting times. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Your Chairman Emma

https://kitaid.net A few words about KitAid KitAid is a charity set up by, Derrick Williams MBE, who visited Tanzania on a WaterAid supporters’ trip in 1998. Derrick, being a mad footie fan, was amazed at the reception he received from children and adults in remote villages just because he was wearing one of his favourite football shirts (he follows Watford, Liverpool and Chesham Utd). After two weeks in Tanzania, a flame was lit in Derrick’s heart, and he was on a mission to provide kit and equipment to the bare-footed children playing with footballs made of tied string and plastic bags. Twenty-one years on, KitAid has lots of volunteers and to date we’ve sent out 900,000+ kits to children and adults in 55 different countries across the world.
How to donate
If you’d like to support the KitAid cause, the easiest way to donate your unwanted football kit, in order for us to find it a new home. Alternatively, if you don’t have any unwanted kit, but would still like to support us, we’re very grateful for any donations which will help to fund our annual costs as well as support other partnership charities where possible. We thank you for all your support.
In working in some of the most under-privileged countries around the world, The Football Association is no stranger to seeing the impact the donation of something as simple as a shirt or a pair of shorts can make. KitAid has brought an enormous amount of pleasure and enjoyment to young and old alike through the gift of football kit and has shared the spirit of British clubs and the England team with communities in all corners of the globe. We are proud to be associated with KitAid and wish them all the best in their endeavours for the years to come. Jane Bateman, Head of International Relations, The Football Association

Tring Athletic History
THE EARLY YEARS Tring Athletic Youth FC was formed in March 1958 by a group of local men who contributed towards the purchase of 3.4 acres at Miswell Lane. The cost of providing changing rooms, fencing, equipment and ownership of the ground was approximately £2,000, a lot of money in those days. Committee members, players and friends carried out most of the work, including the building of the changing rooms and during the early days the team had to play on another pitch in Tring. Originally the Club was formed to provide football for youngsters aged under 21 and despite playing against adult teams we won many trophies in the West Herts Saturday League during the early 1960's including the Division 1 title 3 times in 5 years. THE 70's/80's We then went through a lean spell and in 1971 decided to scrap the upper age limit and drop youth from our name. Many former players returned, and we had another successful period during the early 1970's. Over the years many fine players appeared in our shirts, and many went on to play for professional/senior clubs. In the mid-seventies the Miswell Lane ground was sold to the Council, and we had a bad time and but for the efforts of a few loyal members would have certainly folded. The Reserves were disbanded, and the First Team dropped down to Division 3. We decided to turn to youth again and gradually forced our way back up through the league and by 1986 we were competing in the Premier Division and running a Reserve side again. SOUTH MIDLANDS - THE 90's In 1988 we joined the South Midlands and as a result gained senior status with the Herts FA. In 1989 we entered into a 3-year ground sharing arrangement with Isthmian League side Tring Town moving back to Miswell Lane in 1992 where the Reserves had continued to play. We established ourselves in the South Midlands by gaining promotion to the newly formed Senior Division in 1993. In 1994/95 the First Team reached the final of the Senior Division Cup whilst the Reserves were finalists in the Apsley Junior Cup for the second year running. In 1996/97 we led the Senior Division throughout the season and looked favourites to win the title. However, some unlucky defeats in the last few games saw us drop down to 3rd place. In addition to our impressive league form we also had some terrific cup runs during that season. In 1997/98 we just missed out on the Senior Division title by the narrowest of margins to New Bradwell St Peter - a goal difference of just 2! We finished the season in fine style, suffering just 1 defeat in our last 21 league games. The Reserves went one better by winning their league by a clear 10 points and in doing so achieved 100% success in their league games at home. In 1998/99 we picked up our first major South Midlands trophy when we won the Senior Division Cup. We also won the St Marys Cup for the 2nd time in 3 years. In the league a terrific run of just 1 defeat in our last 28 games saw us finish in 3rd place. During this magnificent run we went 15 hours without conceding a goal. The 1999/2000 season proved to be one to remember. During the summer we spent over £50k on building new changing rooms and extending the social and bar area. To mark the opening of the new changing rooms we played a Watford XI in front of a huge crowd of about 1,000 people. The game was refereed by Graham Poll and Graham Barber. The season turned out to be the most successful in the Club's history. In addition to winning the Senior Division title by 11 points we also reached 5 finals. We won the Herts Charity Shield, Herts Senior Centenary Trophy and the Cherry Red Books Trophy in its inaugural year. We were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Letchworth in
the Senior Division Cup. Our achievements were recognised by the South Midlands who awarded us the Houghton Regis Cup for achievements in outside competitions and Mick Eldridge, Ray Brimson and Richard Vincent were voted Managers of the Season. In 60 games in all competitions, we lost on only 6 occasions. THE NEW MILLENNIUM After finishing the old millennium in style we continued our success into the new one (2000/01) by retaining the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy and the Cherry Red Books Trophy. The Reserves won the League title, and a newly formed B Team claimed the runners-up spot. The following season (2001/02) we won the Herts Charity Shield for the 2nd time. SEASON 2002/03 - More success followed as we capture the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy for the 3rd time, to become the first club to do so. We finished 3rd in the table and won the League Cup for the 2nd time, to make 12 major trophies in 7 years. We were also finalists in the Cherry Red Books Trophy. The A Team finished runners up as did the Under 16's in their first season, the B Team won the sporting award for the 2nd year running and the Ladies had a great run in the Women's FA Cup. For the 3rd year running Darrel Bodimeade won an award for the best playing surface, which is just reward for the tremendous job he continues to do for the club. SEASON 2003/04 - Following our failure to secure floodlights at Miswell Lane we entered into an historic alliance with Tring Town to play our first and reserve team football in season 2004/05 at Pendley where lights were already in place. The main focus was to be to raise the funds needed to build a new Clubhouse, the previous building burnt down in March 2003. SEASON 2004/05 - New season at a new ground in a new division with fantastic facilities. First team finished 6th in the Premier Division and also won the St Mary's Cup for the 3rd time defeating Hemel Hempstead in the Final. We were also Runners Up in the South Midlands Floodlit Cup Final losing on penalties to Oxhey Jets. Played in the F A Vase for the first time. SEASON 2005/6 - The Club entered the F A Cup for the 1st time in its history but was defeated in the prelim round. In a disappointing season the highlight was a victory over Watford in the Herts Senior Trophy with a large crowd enjoying a 1-0 win. Defeat in this competition came at the hands of Stevenage Borough of the Conference league. SEASON 2007/8 - Winners of Herts Charity Shield - We defeated Weylwn Garden City in the final of this County Cup to win the trophy for the 3rd time in our history. This was the first trophy for the new management team of Manager, Phil Casserley, Assistant, Terry Nightingale and Coach Julian Robinson. SEASON 2008/9 - Treble Winners - SSMFL Challenge Trophy Winners - Athletic defeated Chalfont St Peter at Harefield United's ground to lift this trophy in their first appearance in the final of this competition. SSMFL Premier Division Cup Winners - Athletic defeated St Margaretsbury to lift this trophy in their first appearance in the final. St Marys Cup Winners - Athletic defeated Leverstock Green to lift this trophy for the 4th time. SEASON 2009/10 - The First Team finished without a trophy however they finished third in the league, the highest position in the Club's history. SEASON 2010/11 - The First team finished in the highest position, runners up to Chalfont St Peter in the SSMFL Premier Division. They also won the St. Mary's Cup for the fifth time, defeating Leverstock Green 2-1 after extra time. The season finished with a 2-0 defeat to Royston Town in the South Midland Floodlight Cup Final. SEASON 2011/12 - Julian Robinson and Tony Armitage took charge in the summer of 2011 knowing that many of last year’s successful First Team had departed. A great re-building job was undertaken with a very credible 6th position achieved in the league and defeats by the odd goal in 3 cup semi-finals.
SEASON 2012/13 - Mixed season with the 1st team winning their initial FA Cup tie at Bedfont and then losing in the next round to Ashford Town after a replay. In the League we finished just below halfway, lost on penalties to Hadley in the semi-final of the Premier Division Cup and were finalists in the St Mary's Cup losing to local rivals Berkhamsted. Midway through the season Tony Armitage left and Ian Richardson stepped up from the Reserves to assist Julian Robinson. Long serving, Stuart Stedman, was appointed coach to assist Colin Phillips with the Reserves who again had an excellent year bringing many players through to the First team. SEASON 2015/16 - The First Team won the St Mary's Cup for the 5th time defeating Sun Sports and finished midtable in the SSMFL Premier Division. The Reserves did the "double by winning the Suburban Football League North Division and also the Challenge Plate Competition. SEASO 2016/17: First team won the St Mary's Cup, were finalists in the Herts Charity Shield, 5th position SSMFL Premier Division and reached the 4th round of the F A Vase. Reserves were finalists in the Suburban Football League Challenge Trophy. SEASON 2017/18: The First Team reached the last 16 of the F A Vase for the first time losing unluckily to Melksham Town in front of a crowd of 1,236. The "A" Team set a Club record winning the West Herts Premier League and Cup double and only losing one game that being the final of the Herts Junior Cup. SEASON 2018/19: The First Team were Runners Up in SSMFL Premier Division, equalling our best ever position. The Reserves were Suburban Football League Central Division Champions, and the "A" Team were Herts Junior Cup Winners and West Herts Senior Cup Finalists. SEASON 2019/20. Massive change at the club with long serving manager Kevin Richardson standing down and 14 from the previous year’s successful squad moving on to other clubs. Kevin Christou took over the reins for six months, replaced by Chris Juraszek, who had run our reserve team for several years. Chris’ remit was to return the club to its traditional values of operating prudently and developing local talent, which he did. In a season truncated due to covid we finish second. SEASON 2020/21. A season decimated due to the covid pandemic, playing in fits and starts and behind closed doors until finally the league took the decision to cancel the competition. SEASON 2021/22. We began this season with a new management team, headed by Ryan Sturges and Lee Groves, both former players at the Club. The covid pandemic provided us with the opportunity to complete a number of behind-the-scenes projects including installing new floodlights and re-furbishing the clubhouse. We had an understandably slow start to the season on the playing side but kicked on massively from the turn of the year. Our victory in the Premier Division Cup Final was just reward for the players and for the behind the sense group. SEASON 2022/23. We finish ninth in the league, whilst the highlight of the season was our unprecedented run in the FA Vase competition, losing only narrowly in the fifth round to Bury AFC. SEASON 2023/24. We have lofty ambitions of a top 5 finish and a shot at the new play off arrangements for promotion to Step 4. We shall see! Colin Phillips returns to the club to run our U23 side and we show our commitment to you and to pathway football by fielding three U18 sides and one U16 side.

Step 4 and Step Flay Offs 2023/24 Season The Clubs finishing in the bottom two places in each of the eight divisions at Step 4 at the end of the Regular Season will be relegated and placed in a feeder pool and placed in the most geographically appropriate division at Step 5 for the following Playing Season. Clubs relegated for finishing in the bottom two places in each of the eight divisions at Step 4 will be replaced by the Clubs finishing in 1st position in each of the sixteen divisions at Step 5 together with a further 16 Clubs (one Club from each of the sixteen divisions at Step 5) determined by a series of Play Off Matches. Where a Club finishes in 1st position but does not meet the minimum criteria for promotion to the next Step (which shall include being awarded a Grade 5 following an independent ground grading inspection), the Club finishing in 2nd position shall be promoted and the Club finishing in 3rd position (and so on) shall be the Club in the next eligible position to take part in the Play Off Matches. Where a Club finishes in a Play Off Position but does not meet the Criteria for participation in Play Off Matches, the Club finishing in the next eligible position shall take part in the Play Off Matches. In each division at Step 5, the Play Off Matches shall be played so that the highest placed of the eligible Clubs plays against the lowest placed of the eligible Clubs and the other two eligible Clubs play each other. The ties will be played on a single match basis with the home Club being the Club with the best points per match ratio in the Regular Season. If there are only three eligible Clubs, then the highest placed eligible Club shall receive a bye and play the winner of the other Play Off Match, and the winner of that match will be promoted. Clubs finishing below 7th position will not be eligible to take part in Play Off Matches. The promoted Clubs will be placed in a feeder pool and placed in the most geographically appropriate division at Step 4 for the following Playing Season. In addition, a Club promoted to Step 4 shall comply with the Licencing System provision as set out in Appendix 1 to the Standardised Rules.

Alan Lee Reporting Leverstock Green 1 Colney Heath 4 It was an afternoon to forget for Leverstock Green, who crashed to a heavy home defeat to in-form neighbours Colney Heath and suffered a serious injury. It was a similar line-up to that which had played the last four games unbeaten, except that Ryan Carruthers was absent through suspension, and George Mitchell-Gears started in place of Luke Beckwith. The visitors opened the scoring in the fourth minute of the game, and it was a goal that Green keeper Josh Bowler will be disappointed with, as a long-range shot from Jack Kimber bounced in front of him and found the net. A few minutes later Mitchell-Gears went into an innocuous challenge with an opponent but landed awkwardly. After initially trying to continue, Mitchell-Gears went down in agony and was stretchered off in the 13th minute with what looked like a serious ankle injury. Three minutes later Leverstock were two goals down to another avoidable goal, as Jack Percy ran from his own half through the Green defence with barely a challenge before slotting past Bowler to double his side’s lead. On 24 minutes Leverstock had the chance to pull a goal back when Rio Beach was sent flying by a challenge in the box and the referee awarded a penalty. However, Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica missed for the second Saturday in a row as his kick was comfortably saved by Colney keeper Connor Sansom. The penalty miss was soon forgotten, as four minutes later Dan Pett swung in a free kick from the right, and Stefanoaica connected with a looping header that went in off the post to reduce the arrears to 2-1 and put Leverstock back in the game. However, it was only another three minutes before Colney were two goals back in front, as Kai ThomasFraser got up unchallenged to head home a corner at the far post. In the last minute of first half stoppage time Stefanoaica got on the end of another Pett free kick, but this time his header went into the arms of Sansom, and the scoreline was still 3-1 at half time. Leverstock needed to get a goal back and they very nearly did in the 52nd minute. Ethan Mooney’s cross was headed away, but only as far as Luke Beckwith, who hit a shot that rattled the crossbar. Instead of pulling a goal back, Leverstock found themselves further behind four minutes later, Bowler pulled off a good save to keep out a shot, but the rebound was not cleared, and George Sippetts had an easy chance to shoot home from close range. That put paid to any chance of a comeback, although Beckwith was unlucky again in the 76th minute as he struck the woodwork again, this time with a shot that hit the inside of the post and rebounded across goal, but didn’t go in. It was only Leverstock’s second league defeat since early October, but they will need to turn things around quickly with further home games against Crawley Green and Tring Athletic between Christmas and New Year. Leverstock Green (1) 1 (Stefanoaica 28) 1. Josh Bowler, 2. Ethan Mooney, 3. Rio Beach, 4. Paul Marks (18. Luke Durnin 63 mins), 5. Callum Neal, 6. Nat Connolly (17. Mikey Havill-Tierney 75 mins), 7. Jayden Newman (14. Lewis Collins 59 mins), 8. Dan Pett, 9. Rawn Seale, 10. George Mitchell-Gears (12. Luke Beckwith 13 mins), 11. Radu-Mihai Stefanoaica 16. Callum Moore 81 mins).

Development & U18’s Team News Leverstock Green Development registered their first win since the appointment of Andy Murray as manager as they travelled to Baldock Town Reserves and came away with the three points. Two goals from Jamie McIntosh were enough for a 2-0 win. It was a bad day at the office for Leverstock Green Development, who were 3-1 down at half time and 6-1 down at full time to Oracle Components. Manager Andy Murray described it as “a spanking”. Leverstock Green Development put in a great effort against unbeaten league leaders Belstone in Saturday’s HSCL Premier Division fixture. There were several new signings in the squad, including Evripidis Grigoriou, on loan from Barnet, and his goal had the Leverstock side leading 1-0 at half time. However, Belstone struck back in the second half and eventually won the game 2-1 with a last-minute goal. The Development Team registered their fourth win of the season as they overcame local rivals Colney Heath Reserves at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium on Saturday. Two goals from Callum Moore midway through the first half, the second from the penalty spot, established a 2-0 lead which was held until Colney pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time at the end of the game.
The under-18s registered their third league win of the season on Thursday night, an impressive 30 result against Aylesbury Vale Dynamos at the Lords Builders Merchants Stadium. Shay Kelly scored the opening goal in first half stoppage time, while Jamie McIntosh (76) and Luc Dischamps (82) added further goals in the second half. The under-18s moved into the last 16 of the Brian Hitchings Cup with a 4-1 win at Crawley Green in Tuesday night’s Second Round tie. Connor McGinty opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and Jamie McIntosh added a second six minutes later. The hosts pulled a goal back after half time, but McIntosh struck again in the 76th and 8th minutes to complete his hat-trick and a 4-1 win.
