Sound Reinforcement Setup
Main Setup • Firstly, consider power sources. Where will you plug in the desk, speakers, monitors and backline? • Arrange the desk, speakers and monitors appropriately for the venue. Plug in to mains. DON’T SWITCH ANYTHING ON YET!
Connecting The Gear Connect all XLR inputs from the stage box to the desk
Main Output Connect the Main Outs from the desk to R1(left) and R2 (right). (These are for the main speakers)
Monitors Connect the R3 and R4 cables to Aux Sends 3&4 on the back of the desk to (these are for your monitors) Aux Send 3 - R3 Aux Send 4 - R4
Connecting the Effects Unit • Take an output from Aux 1 and plug it into the input of the FX unit • Connect the left and right outputs of the FX unit to the stereo Aux returns on the back of the desk. Be sure to match up the L and R
Connect XLR cables from the stage box to the speakers and monitors R1 – Left speaker R2 – Right speaker R3 – Left monitor R4 – Right monitor
Power On Procedure • Power on at the walls • Desk power supply on • Ensure all speakers/monitor volumes are down, power on and set volumes to half way notch.
Stereo Recording Take an output from group 1-2
Plug the cable into a recorder (Tascams are good) You could also plug straight into Pro Tools/Logic via an interface Press record to see the input level and use the group output fader to set the right level
Press record again to start the recording

Turn down all faders Turn down all volumes on speakers/monitors Power off speakers/monitors Power off desk Power off wall sockets Pack up all equipment
